Lakeside Hollows is a fun 9-hole course that is mostly pitch and putt. The course only has one set of tees at the moment, playing to 3' wooden stakes with the hole number painted on them. The course forms a loop, featuring water carries and accuracy tests. Holes 2, 3, 4, and 7 play near the lake. Holes 1, 6, 8, and 9 play alongside the creek. Every hole except #5 has water in play! Each tee has a hand drawn tee sign which includes a map of the hole, the hole number, the par, and the distance. Every hole is a par 3.
Hole Breakdown:
Hole #1 starts on a steep hill on the edge of the woods. Your first shot will be through a gap in the trees downhill. There is a creek about 175 feet from the teebox, making you decide whether to lay up or bomb it through the dense trees. The pin sits about 15 ft behind the creek. The hole is about 190 ft, downhill, and heavily wooded.
Hole #2 starts in the woods and shoots through a clearing. The pin sits on the edge of a small hill, which leads directly into the lake if you overshoot. The lake is about 5 feet behind the pin. The hole is about 170 ft, mostly flat, and moderately wooded.
Hole #3 is a complete water carry. The tee sits on a small hill, and you shoot your drive over the lake. The pin sits on the edge of the water, about a foot away from the lake. If you leave the drive short, your disc is gone. If you throw it too long, you will end up having to put towards the lake. The hole is about 165 ft, slightly downhill, and lightly wooded.
Hole #4 is the signature hole, and the hardest hole on the entire course. Even though the pin is to the right of the tee, most players have to shoot to the left on a 15 foot strip of grass between the lake and O.B. wooded area. After laying up on the left side, you must throw to the pin perched on the side of an extremely steep hill sloping towards the lake. The hole is about 240 ft, hilly, and moderately wooded.
*Follow path lined with branches to the #5 tee(Tee is in the woods, about 100 feet from the #4 pin*
Hole #5 is a true accuracy test. It is entirely wooded. Your tee shot must go through a pair of large trees, the only mando on the course. While the hole is short, an inaccurate drive will most likely give you a bogey. The pin is really unique. It sits on a raised up patch of land, with two curved logs surrounding the pin, making a "roundabout"(Tough to explain, pictures will be posted soon). The hole is about 150 ft, flat, and heavily wooded.
Hole #6 is another incredible accuracy test. There are multiple lines to be hit. This is the longest hole on the course, and plays entirely through the woods. The pin sits on the edge of the creek. The hole is about 285 ft, slightly downhill, and heavily wooded.
Hole #7 has a distinct fairway, with the lake on the left and dense woods on the right. The lake, while not an extreme threat, can creep into play if you go hard left. The pin sits on the side of a small hill sloping towards the woods. The hole is about 145 ft, mostly flat, and moderately wooded.
Hole #8 starts off straight through the woods, and takes a very sharp dogleg turn left. If you have a good first shot(very short putter drive), the pin is visible. The pin sit on a peninsula, with water in front of, behind, and to the right of the green. The approach must be very strategic to avoid a penalty stroke. The hole is about 240 ft, mostly flat, and heavily wooded.
Hole #9 shoots directly back to the #1 tee in the woods. It is the shortest hole on the course. The creek isn't really a factor unless you hit a tree very close to the tee. It plays slightly uphill, and the pin in on a flat surface between two medium sized trees. The hole is about 110 ft, slightly uphill, and heavily wooded.
Pictures will be added soon!
CURRENT COURSE CONDITIONS(As of 11-11-15): 7/10 Muddy in spots, but overall in pretty good shape. The tee signs have been added, and a path has been made through the woods for navigation purposes. Permanent targets will be added next week. lessCourse Privacy The course is restricted for friend and family use only.
