Lake Chabot Golf Course

Pros: Brand new course! Always a treat to play on a beautiful golf course like this. The signature Hole 4, if you get the opportunity to play C position - go for the goal post! Absolutely awesome. Very well-maintained practice area (2 baskets next to hole 1 tee off) and most importantly, the bartenders are awesome and there is great beer on tap. Cons: A 9-hole with alternate tee pads/pins, but rumored to expand soon. Permanent tee pads not yet there, but will be installed soon (concrete). ...

Pros: Brand new course! Always a treat to play on a beautiful golf course like this. The signature Hole 4, if you get the opportunity to play C position - go for the goal post! Absolutely awesome. Very well-maintained practice area (2 baskets next to hole 1 tee off) and most importantly, the bartenders are awesome and there is great beer on tap.

Cons: A 9-hole with alternate tee pads/pins, but rumored to expand soon. Permanent tee pads not yet there, but will be installed soon (concrete). During winter season, the erosion in some areas can naturally occur, may need re-adjustments down the road.

Beautiful dual-use course with great views. Two baskets and 2 tee-off spots for every hole. It was a little confusing at first knowing where to tee off from and why, but it came. Also, some friendly disc golfers explained how to properly read the distance chart on the scorecard, (G/G = Green tee markers to green basket, Y/Y = Yellow tee markers to yellow basket, G/Y = Green tee to yellow basket, Y/G = Yellow tee to green basket). Not many obstacles, but lots of fun downhill shots. Slight negative: must pay to play, ($10 for non-Oakland residents on weekdays). Another negative: We got behind some slow amateur ball golfers, so Holes 2 -4 were played at a snail's pace. After they finally let us play through, it was much better. (We had an 11:20 tee time, but got on the course at 11:05 - maybe it was partly our fault).

I really like this course. Being on a ball golf course, it is obviously well maintained. Besides that, having two baskets and two tee pads for each of the 9 holes allows for multiple ways to play this course. It is therefore good for beginners (green to green), for advanced players (yellow to yellow), and for those in between, you can mix and match to create the course you're interested in playing. I really like this course. Being on a ball golf course, it is obviously well maintained. Besides that, having two baskets and two tee pads for each of the 9 holes allows for multiple ways to play this course. It is therefore good for beginners (green to green), for advanced players (yellow to yellow), and for those in between, you can mix and match to create the course you're interested in playing. Off the fairways, there is a poison oak presence, so I make sure to wear long pants and always look at the foliage before attempting to retrieve an errant throw. It is about 50% ball golf and 50% disc golf lately, but have heard that it is mostly disc golf these days. Regardless, everyone I've met there is cool and they consistently allow singles/smaller groups to play through. It is a PAY to PLAY course, although the amounts listed on the course review page are incorrect (it is cheaper).
