What a fun course! My favorite of the 3 courses available in San Jose. Pros: Great signage, very welcoming starting area with practice basket and large trees. Bag holders at tee boxes, great tee-pads, awesome variety of long/short holes requiring diff shot selections. The baskets are switched around often offering nice variety. Pros: Great signage, very welcoming starting area with practice basket and large trees. Bag holders at tee boxes, great tee-pads, awesome variety of long/short holes requiring diff shot selections. The baskets are switched around often offering nice variety. A number of deep long shots, Hole 3 is a par 4 at times at over 500ft.

Poison Oak: Watch for it around the back 9!

Cons: Parking fee. $100 ticket for not paying (that was an expensive round for me). The rangers drive around in their trucks and blare on a bullhorn way before sunset demanding that all players leave - it feels a little strict. The best thing to do is park out of the main lot if you can so that you can continue playing after they yell and shut the gate at 5. If you get locked in you can find a small area to drive around it, but requires you to drive around Hole 18 tee-pad.

This course is more recommended to experienced players, but this is disc golf, almost at its best. This course is more recommended to experienced players, but this is disc golf, almost at its best. The reason I couldn't give it an A or A+ is that there is quite a bit of poison oak on the course, and a lot of bushes/trees to lose your discs in. Also, for golfers who like elevation shots, or downhill shots, in particular, there wasn't any of that. Some long holes had to be shot into the famous "Kelley Park wind". But, for golfers who like long shots where they can really let loose with their drivers, this is the course for you. One hole position was 648' and there were several over 300'. There were only 4 "short" holes, and those were very technical, as short holes tend to be.

My brother and I were very lucky today, too, because, just as we were getting ready to play Hole 1, a local named Jim Challas approached us and walked the entire course with us as we played it, telling us where all the baskets and tee boxes were, and even where all the alternate positions, OBs, etc. were, too. It just so happens that, not only is Jim a local, he also designed the course, and helped design 2 other courses in San Jose. At one point, we asked him for his business card and he presented both of us with a mini disc with his name, phone #, and disc golf pertinent info about himself on it. When we got done playing, he also gave both of us beautiful color maps of the course with excellent info on them.

Here are Jim's credentials: PDGA #160, inducted into the Disc Golf Hall of Fame in 2013, inaugural member of the Minnesota Disc Sports Hall of Fame, (2006), former National Frisbee Champion North American Series, 1979 Self Caught Flights, 1977 Overall, and 1976 Accuracy.

Jim, who is originally from our current home city of Antioch, CA, also agreed to help us design and administer a disc golf course in Antioch - where one is sorely needed ...

Kelley Park DGC offers almost everything a disc golfer could desire. Each tee has an all-weather rubber pad, informative sign and bag pole. Kelley Park DGC offers almost everything a disc golfer could desire. Each tee has an all-weather rubber pad, informative sign and bag pole. Each hole has at least 3 positions and presents a different challenge with every throw. From natural obstacles to long open fairways, the 18 hole course will test your ability to pick that perfect flight path. Parking is $6 daily and situated next to the course. Two caveats: mostly flat and a handful of blind shots (would highly suggest joining someone who has played the course before).

TL;DR Best 18 hole disc golf course in the South Bay that offers technical and open fairways.
