During the summer months, you are almost immediately met with a "gallery" of sorts made up of the patrons who frequent the Rushcreek Pub n' Grub, who enjoy their meals and drinks on the back patio that faces the first hole's basket. Don't fret, you'll often hear the patrons clap you off after you've putted out, regardless of how badly that bogey may've looked!
Like many other "park" courses, the most of your tee shots and upshots are wide open, and make for decent field work to practice your shot types while enjoying your walk through Bremen's Howell Park. The course has ALMOST no elevation, and while most of the pins are easily approachable, a few are tightly nestled into the park's perimeter, making for some tight landing zones that may challenge your par if thrown OB.
You'll end out your round by walking past Howell Park's quaint and beautiful butterfly garden.
NO TOUCHING!
...they're delicate, after all!
On your way out, you may be delighted by the site of Howell Park's professional horseshoe pit, home of three time horseshoe WORLD Champion, Jim Kinsley.
Lastly, now that Bremen has started throwing its Oktoberfest again, the entire fest itself is carefully planned and constructed as to not interfere with one's golf game, and makes for a VERY unique experience. The last four holes of the course have their fairways lined with Oktoberfest goers, happy drunken patrons, vendors, chainsaw sculptors, and even a LIVE band that sees you off on your tee shot on the 9th!
Talk about a ROUND, right?
Don't just pass on the unassuming Scout's Honor DGC. Stop by, breathe in the country air, take in the "village" vibes, and embrace the cultures of the Bremenites!
We'll give you a friendly wave and a nod, and you'll be glad you came.
