Incredible course! I’ve played this course a few time now and I love it more every time. I had the opportunity to play all my rounds with the owner/designer and I truly enjoyed talking with him about the history and development of his course. Each set of tees is a different challenge. You will use every shot in your bag. There are several very unique holes that very enjoyable. If you live near the course set up a tee time and make the drive to play it. If you live far away do the same it will be well worth the trip.

Really awesome course that will test every shot in your bag. The owner has several tees for each hole and takes great care of the course.

Very fun, yet challenging course with 4 different tee pad locations for each hole... The Guardian Aliens play here often... My wife loves it!

Love the natural settings. Various shots to throw, which makes this course so great. Shot placement is key on some holes. Love the hippos.
Thanks Ken for being so gracious and nice to let a bunch if random dudes play your course. Awesome design.

Best course I have ever played, beautiful scenery and wide variety of shots, very well maintained with distinct fairways.

I had the pleasure of playing the course for the first time today. It's beautiful to say the least. The owner/designer Ken is extremely friendly and was a pleasure to throw a round with. He obviously is passionate about our sport and is definitely building the disc golf community in his area and beyond. The first couple of times you play it's nice to have him as a guide. There are no tee signs or markings for the pin locations. There are however four distinct tee pads for each target. Speak ...

Awesome course nestled in the foothills outside of Athens Ohio. Multiple pin/tee placements. Wide variety of shots (uphill, downhill, hallways and open). Best course in the area in my opinion. Great host and land owner has made his property into an amazing course, jealous. Wish I lived closer! Check it out!

I really enjoy the different shot selections required to make it around the course. It is an even split between left and right hand holes. The course is very well maintained and is dog friendly. Spending a Sunday afternoon out at Hippo Ridge is the highlight of the week for both myself and Scooter the Wonder Dog.

Fantastic course! Loved that the course fits any level. Additionally, the course is full of beautiful and creative hippos in all the shapes and colors. Ken is a great host.

Hippo Ridge dgc is by far my new favorite course. This course has everything I want and nothing that I don't. Friendly environment, wide variety of shots, very well maintained, multiple tee pads, and no real threat of losing a disc. On top of that, the host/course designer was quite hospitable and helpful. Good times at Hippo Ridge DGC. 1 love.

A great 18 holer in the Athens area. 4 different teas for each hole. Nicely wood but all reasonable fairways. Underbrush well maintained. Lots of elevation changes.

Excellent course , owner/designer very friendly. Challenging and very fun course that requires different throws. From a thumber to your max distance drive and ace potential. 100% worth your time to set up a rendezvous with ken and play some disc golf

Perfect place to chase them chains.Very well maintained. Beautiful layout. Challenging holes. 3 tees per hole. You definently will not be disappointed. "Pick up stick" the game. Just ask.

Played the white tees. A very challenging course. Most holes are very technical with varying size trees in the fairway. Tee pads are natural, made out of mostly wood chips. For the longer distance holes it is difficult to get an even run up. There is very few flat areas, elevation is a factor on every hole. Ken is a very gracious host, made time to play with is.

Awesome course, beautiful scenery and no chances of losing a disc. The course will challenge you with any throws in your bag. Multiple tee choices to play from on each hole. Some wide open shot to more technical shots. If you haven't played it yet you need to message Ken and get out there. Ken and his family are great hosts very friendly, with a great course.

Ken Sampson is extremely nice & you must schedule a time for him to play on your first time. This is a TOUGH course. No concrete tees. No markers. They are all natural tees. Most are fine except for maybe 3 tees. Make no doubt about it this is a good course & 100% worth the drive. A trip worth taking at least once.
From the red tees probably 4 birdie oops.
My rating is based on too many holes where I didn’t know what I was throwing at.
Signs, next tee markers and better tee pads needed.

Great course in excellent condition. Great variety of holes. Dog friendly as long as pooch is disc friendly.

Great course, great people. One of my favorites to date by far.

What a gem of a course. The recent re-design of some holes make it a challenging course with very little in the way of throw-away holes. Multiple tee-pads available, and a variety of shots required.

What an awesome course. I love the variation of holes and the elevations. There are just so many cool holes. And I love that Ken is working it on making it even better. Nos 14 and 15 and the new tee box for 16 are gonna be awesome when completed. This course is definitely in my Top 5 now!!!

As it was my first career victory. It is by far the most wonderful always changing master piece.

Great course and even better host! Ken's passion for his course is evident in his willingness to guide groups through it and his interest in seeing the lines people choose.
This course is very difficult but incredibly fun.
I personally loved the natural tee pads. I often slip on other types of pads, but these have amazing grip and held up well. If it isn't smooth when you walk up, you can easily stomp it down.

This is a special place. A lot of love and care has been put into this course. A challenging course that can adhere to a variety of skill levels. Ken is a great guy and was an absolute pleasure to hangout with on his course. I look forward to checking out this place in the fall (prime disc golf season). Hippo Ridge is a hidden gem that has me wishing I lived closer so that I could visit more often. If you’re a disc golf fan looking for a great course, this place is worth whatever drive you need to make in order to play it. I will certainly be back, hopefully next time to enjoy a tournament.
