Hindman 9 DGC in Little Rock, Arkansas reminds me of home. I am a Tennessee disc golfer that happened to get a round in at this small 9 hole course during a trip with my Wife. Immediately, this course felt like home to me. What I mean by that was plenty of trees and plenty of hills! Pretty much everywhere I travel, I play at least a 9 hole course where I am going and this course was one of the closest in style to the courses I am used to playing, that I have come across in my travels. That said, I really enjoyed this course! There are two tees for every hole which allows players to choose which layout they prefer playing that day. I love this type of layout for a course, because sometimes, you don’t want an all out challenge. Some days you just want to get out and have fun and collect lots of birdies while having the potential to grab an ace. Unfortunately, in my experience, Hole 5’s basket was missing after some recent storms that some locals told me about, so there were technically two holes that I did not get to play in 5 Long and 5 Short. I did, however, get the rest of the layout in and I thoroughly enjoyed my round. This layout offers a ton of variety in uphill and downhill holes, very wooded to lightly wooded holes, as well as a good mix of holes that play to the left, straight, and right. The course designer did an excellent job on this small section of the property that was used for this layout. I did also hear that there are more course(s) at this same park that are available to play also, so this would be an outstanding 9 hole warm up course before you take on a longer 18 hole course. My one negative takeaway from this course is that it seemed like the long tees don’t get much love. There were a couple groups of locals there playing when I was there, and I didn’t see a single person playing from the long tees. Furthermore, several of the long tees had tall grass around them that I had to walk through to get to. I don’t know if this is the cause of others not playing these tees, or the result of, but I do wish these tees would get more use. Hopefully I am wrong and these tees do get used often, but that did not appear to be the case when I visited. Overall, I’m not going to recommend anyone to travel to this course specifically to play, but if you are in the area, it is definitely worth getting a round or two in here. If I was a local, I would play this course on a regular basis to help with my upshot game and to warm up for longer rounds. Also, to try and grab some of those elusive aces!
