Had a chance to play Father Padilla Park this afternoon with Jeremy Gentry after a trip to Discs Unlimited. We played a total of 14 holes, which I'm pretty sure was the tournament layout that Dennis is setting up for his DU tourney later this month. Although this website only has 9 set up, weird. Anyway, as for the course itself, I thought it was pretty fun. There are some interesting lines throughout, offering a good mix of hyzer/anhyzer choices. Most of the holes were on the short side, I'd say an average of about 250' or so. Never really had a chance to open up, but it's good for working angles and accuracy. Another thing that comes to mind is tee-pads, or lack there of. They'd be great, but it's not a show stopper at all. I can see it being a problem after the rain though, as a lot of the tee areas are worn down to the dirt. I can't really complain though, as my home course (Ft.Riley) has grass tee-pads too. Most of the course signage seems to have been vandalized, or torn down all together which is sad. The course layout could've been very confusing had we not had a map provided by Dennis at Discs Unlimited. Once you know where you're going though it's laid out pretty good. I say that because it's such a small park and most of the baskets are placed somewhat close together. All in all I think it was a good course and want to commend Dennis for putting it together.
