Okay heres a warning to everyone, be careful what you roll into ff with in your posession and what you do on the course, dont be stupid and smoke right out in the open and in front of dog walkers! I was out cleaning the tee pads today and had no choice but to call troy pd and oakland cnty animal control after a dogwalker got in my face because he didnt like that i asked him nicely to put his black german shepard on a leash and the only thing coming out of his mouth was about the disc golfers dri ... more

Id like some votes...would anyone like to see another league on this side of town? If so, where at, what day of the week/weekend or early morning or glow rounds? A2 and kensington have quite a few people and with a $5 ace pool it grows fast and pays nicely! but those are a drive for most of us and id like to know if any others are as interested as i am to have more leagues for us all to enjoy. Please give feedback i might start one up!

MCCG Ice Bowl....I am offering up my own personal $50 bounty to one person that can beat my $540 and is the highest cash contributor at this years Motor City Chain Gangs Ice Bowl event. If I exceed the $540 and win again then I will give that $50 to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen on top of my regular $20 donation. I have won the highest cash donation the last three years starting with my first Ice Bowl in 2010 with $144, then 2011 with $330 and 2012 with $540. This isn't hard to do and any on ... more

So its safe to say that my glow boss and my destroyer were picked and stolen from the glow doubles. Thats pretty pathetic that someone could steal a disc with someones name on it and just walk away like its theirs. RESPECT THE GAME OR DONT PLAY!!

Did anyone grab a glo boss with the firefighters classic stamp on it. It was on the other side of 18 by the bridge. Yellow star destroyer somewhere on hole 1. And another blog boss on 4 half way down but its somewhere around the water. Awesome if returned names and numbers on the back of them.

thank you and i totally agree on everything you said jb. But i have written a letter to the city about more trash cans which they will not do. i also wrote about new tee-pad signs, which i guess motor city chain gang and the city are both working on. also i wrote about back filling in the tee-pads and sounded like they will do. for the benches i work construction, therefore wood is free nails are free. i know they will probably get broken, set on fire, and definitely get drawn on. i just hate go ... more

Id give ya an A for effort but if i was you i wouldnt waste my time or money, let the city decide what to do or let john get approval for permanently placed benches that wont just turn into vandalized garbage after being kicked around, youve seen the picnic tables and the young casual punks out there could care less about your willingness to make the course better, theyll just destroy it, tag it or burn it
Scott Smith September 4, 2012 at 8:16pm
Oh no, all good, got better wood, and hopefully get out there soon, but theres wood on sixteen where the old pad is just need nails, hammer and a shovel, I knew the first two werent going to last longer but maybe people would see and join in to make it a better course.

Is there just the doubles league and the skins league here, or is there another singles league?
he's prob the same one that his dog killed the squirrels last year on hole #1 at a turny there
No thats the guy with the black lab im the one who watched that happen and got into with him over it, but they are friends as that guy with the lab was out there walking today with the guy that has the german shep, i talked to animal control this morning and they all got warning on their vehicles and let him know they are always there between 9-11 every morning
I would have had no problem with asking them all nicely as i have in the past but this guy was a reall asshole and also threatened to cut chains on the baskets
They might ask you sometime in the future, if they haven't already, to use sand instead of salt on the pads. The dogs sometimes eat the salt. I know if they had their dogs on leashes then they would not be close enough to the pads to allow the dogs to actually eat the salt. There are plenty of ... more

I know if they had their dogs on leashes then they would not be close enough to the pads to allow the dogs to actually eat the salt. There are plenty of good folks out there with their dogs not on leashes that do not cause discers any issues. Be cautious about who (Animal Control) you are bringing into the issue. When the Animal Control gets called, we bring these good people into our issue. When we force good people into doing something they do not wish to be involved with, we may turn them against us as well.

i just spent 2 and ahalf hours out there cleaning the tee pads this morning so everyone can enjoy playing there just to be met by a dog walker full of rude comments about ALL disc golfers as if that should be taken all out on me for everyones actions on that course, so if anyone wants to debate with ... more

Fight the good fight, dude. The simple fact is it's a city ordinance that dogs must be on a leash. It's a multi-use public park, not specifically a dog park. About the disc golfers' use of alcohol or "illegal substances".... know your rights, and don't get caught (and get your medical card).
I am not sure about ppl hating to play FF, its just that there are nicer courses to play a casual round. FF is great for a quick round or for league play for sure. And yes, every now and again we all run into that non-discer, maybe a dog walker who is just plain rude. In fact, one of the biggest jokes on our league card with Steve Brazel, Damon Evans, Dan James, Mat STivers, and myself is about Steve Brazel holding me back after a few words were exchanged with an elderly (older than I) dog walker whose dog walked right up behind Dan as he was putting on Hole 17 and I had to interrupt him mili-moments before he threw. I said something out loud to the guy when he responded "Do you want to talk about it?" in a not so nice tone. Thankfully Steve was standing next to me holding me back cuz it wasn't gonna end nicely. Yes, there are THOSE people out there...

The authorities are there for a reason. Obviously talking nicely with these folks isn't going to produce any positive results. They'll call us beer-drinking, pot-smoking vandals, and we'll call them inconsiderate shit-factory owners. I sincerely doubt there is any way to reach an amicable solution between the two parties. They know they are breaking the law, and sometimes I break a law or two. However, when I break a law it doesn't leave a steaming pile of shit in the middle of a fairway for someone to set their bag in, or throw a disc in. If they want to break laws on the other side of the park, since there is plenty of prime dog-shitting real estate at FF, I'm all for it. Go let your dog shit all over the kids' soccer fields for all I care.
the piece of information that i learned today when i called troy pd they told me that troy doesnt have a leash law BUT the animal control officer who knows michigan animals laws informed me that the ENTIRE state of mich has a leash law so either way its still against the law
and on top of the dog shit that we step in, set our bags in and our discs fly into as you pointed out the other main problem of the distractions of the dogs running through the fairways and right up to us as we are throwing
@Doug, with or without a medical license, it does not give anyone the right to smoke it in a public park out in the open, which is why we do not need extra eyes on the people on the disc golf course. think its time we stop waiting on hole 15 for dog walkers to pass before we drive. that will learn em.
uh-oh?? lol
I understand that John. I have always maintained that smart folks dont have run-ins with the law. It's usually the idiots that can't keep from getting caught. Regardless, a medical card is just a safeguard. You still need to have a brain in your skull to keep the 5-0 off you and those around you.

I was told that if there is an issue, that I could take plate numbers and report them. I don't want to infringe on anyone having a good time at the course, I know I enjoy a beer or 5 there too lol, but it's been getting worse in the years I've played there. Eventually someone is going to get hit or a dog is going to chew a disc and then we will definitely have an issue on our hands. I'd rather not have it excalate to that, because the possibility of the course being pulled comes into play. Speaking to them nicely should always be first priority, but if they become hostile, then I say go to the authorities.
I got the guy on video acting like a spaz and basically blaming me for everyones illegal activity, and with him screamin at me with his german shepard off the leash circling me felt pretty intimidating not knowing if his dog would attck me if i just tried to defend myself if he did take it there
Just happens that a german shepard is the only dog ive ever been bitten by too..so im within my rights to involve the authorities when i feel threatened just because i asked him nicely to put his dog on a leash
