Crane Creek Regional Park

Very nice course. I loved their signs at each tee, (a circular sign embedded in a ground-level boulder behind glass). Only Hole 7 was missing a sign. The tee boxes seemed to be regulation size, but they were covered with a black rubbery covering and were, at times, loose fitting and dusty. My brother slipped on Hole 1's tee pad, fell and cut his arm. The tee boxes seemed to be regulation size, but they were covered with a black rubbery covering and were, at times, loose fitting and dusty. My brother slipped on Hole 1's tee pad, fell and cut his arm. I liked the general openness of the course, (I believe every basket could be seen from its related tee pad, except one - and that was the cool Hole 5 layout). If I remember correctly, Hole 5's tee pad was under some trees with some poison oak to the right and you had to throw an anhyzer through a tunnel of trees/bushes to the basket that was hidden to the right on an open field. We lost no discs on the day that we played, and there were 3 of us. That translates to the grass was not too tall and there were no formiddable bushes or trees that were there to snatch discs. The layout of the course was good/traditional - as it started to the right and wound around counter-clockwise back to Hole 1. There were restrooms right at Hole 1, which is also where the parking lot is. The parking fee is now $7. As long as some of that money goes to maintaining the course, I'm okay with it ...

The views are worth visiting this course alone. It highlights Sonoma County. Rolling hills, vineyards, nice homes, Eucalyptus trees, Oak trees, and of course poison oak. For those allergic to Poison Oak, be careful. The course itself is OK, and nothing better. Most of the holes are under the wide open sun, with no trees or challenging obstacles. There are couple nice holes, but other than that, this is not my go-to course in the area. I'd much rather drive to Novato. Having to pay for park ...

The course itself is OK, and nothing better. Most of the holes are under the wide open sun, with no trees or challenging obstacles. There are couple nice holes, but other than that, this is not my go-to course in the area. I'd much rather drive to Novato.

Having to pay for parking is understandable being that it is a regional park, but if we are going to pay for course then R.Park Parks and Rec. should invest more money into the tee-pads. Some were still dirt the last time I played there. I survived, but still uneven garbage in my opinion. Lay some sawdust, wood chips, cement, fine gravel, something. Signage is good and there are different pin locations.

Go play it just to check it off the list.
