This is a gem of a course. 16 holes in the woods with the only two open holes as bookends. The course sits on a hill side and offers many up or down hill throws. It is not overly tight making this a fair but challenging course. The rocky terrain does pose a challenge for cart users. The OB rock walls and baskets perched on large rocks or inclines adds to the challenge. Overall, a well designed course with a variety of shots needed to navigate the course. One large rubber tee pad and two baskets per hole.

Played a solo round of both layouts in one day. This course has a little of everything (a lot of woods), is really well maintained, and feels challenging, but fair. My only "complaint" is that the tee signs don't seem to always show the proper location of the basket. The raised basket for blues on 6 or 7 is possibly a little too tricky due to the number of jagged rocks around it - likely wouldn't be a problem if I was used to the course, but caused a little frustration on my first play through.

The property is beautiful and the course is fantastic for only having been around a couple years. No two holes feel exactly alike and I had a great time on both layouts - it never felt like I was playing the last hole backwards or playing a "shorter version" of the harder layout. The field shots on 1, 2, and 18 are some of my favorites in Massachusetts. The folks in the pro shop were really nice, and asked me how my rounds went as I finished up on 18. If I lived closer, I would be here every weekend.

I would rank this course right with Pyramids (same designer, so no huge surprise there). It's a touch above Borderland because there is a shop and its not as difficult to play when crowded, as both layouts at 501 share the same tee pads, which alleviates the confusion of trying to play with groups playing the alternate (blue-white/white-blue) layouts at BL. With stone/concrete tee boxes and updated maps, this course would be an A+. Excited to see how this place ages. If you like courses like Pyramids, Borderland, Tully and Devens, this is a must-play.
