Broken Chains is a Trash In/Trash Out course.
Please do not litter and pick up trash if you find it.
As of 20221219, there is only 1 discgolfscene entry for Broken Chains
DGC located in LIncoln University, PA
(there used to be two, but both have been combined into one and the other has been deleted - TLS)
(20250220) TLS - TREES....MORE TREES
I forgot this earlier and this is OLD news.
This occurred sometime in the last 2 months of 2024.
A benefactor donated approx 150 trees and a majority of them were planted
at various places on the course. A lot of them are staked or will be.
The heights varies from 1 ft to over 6 ft.
These trees are considered a part of the course!
So please do not remove or snap them off.
(20250218) TLS
Broken Chains has evolved to contain a mix of novice skill level holes
and higher skill level holes....a mix of technical holes (that are envisioned to require specific shot placement or specific type of shot), distance holes and
some are a combination of both.
#2 the 'claw' is an instance of a hole requiring distance on the drive and
specific shot placement on your up shot to land in front of the basket.
If you throw past the basket...or to the sides....you might have difficulty making
the put. The hole was designed this way on purpose. Almost all baskets
are protected in some way.
NEWS(20250218) - TLS - #14 long par 4 - WORK IN PROGRESS
This is meant to be a higher skill level pro hole....no deadline.
Much works remains on this.
Currently there is the regular par 3 blue basket and a harder par 3 yellow
basket(further back and to the left of the blue one).
The par 4 yellow is approx 200 feet beyond the blue basket...
back in the woods. The anchor is in. The basket is not.
You may see a metal pole with a 'pink' piece of pipe in it.
The top of the pink pipe is the approx location of the band of the basket.
The plan is to put the basket on a mound (similar to the blue one)
NEWS(20241211) - #6 short tee pad....
This actually went in many weeks ago so this news is late
this was done by ahnd..no cement truck...
From my notes #6 measurement is:
o) from the short tee pad: 242 feet
o) from the long tee pad: 333 feet.
There is a single blue basket for hole #6.
This basket has been moved from its original placement..
It is now roughly 25 feet back and to the right.
I added some pics for #6 short and ...now...#6 long.
NEWS(20241122) - #02 tee sign....has been replaced with tee sign with correct basket color coding. I have also reworked/added some of the hazard/ob stakes to the right of
basket #10 and basket #12...to make it easier to tell where hazard boundaries are.
NEWS(20241024) - #14 / long #14 basket(yellow) - this is probably a couple of weeks late
LOTS of work going onto this hole.
A yellow basket has been put into place.......approx 91 ft behind the blue
basket. This is considered a PRO hole...still a par 3.
This long placement is considered a
work in progress.
At the current time...there is no OB on hole #14...except the lake.
There is a blue mando sign for the long placement. THis mando does not
apply to the blue basket.
There is a corresponding dropzone to the right of the mando sign.
Be careful of your footing.
There is also work between the #14 fairway and #15 short tee pad.
NEWS(20240714) - #4 long tee pad - this hole has a mandatory sign(the big M).
The dropzone....if you miss the mando....is the short tee pad.
NEWS(20240710) - #17 long(yellow)...up on the berm.
o) people have asked about this particular basket placement
This is considered a 'work in progress' and will develop
slowly into
a more 'cleaner' shot. - TLS
NEWS(20240522) - some of this news is old and may be repeat
o) i beleive that SteveD has changed udisc to have 2 courses
Alpha(short) and Omega(long) which incorporates the tee pads poured
in April Troy does not mess with udisc stuff.......
o) As a stop gap...i have posted small white plastic signs on the new tee pads posts
with distance and elevation measurements
o) I beleive the new tee pad concrete is stable enough to play from BUT....these
new pads will require work like ground leveling etc before that will be
considered fully complete. play at your own risk at this point...watch your footing
and BE CAREFUL! stay on the concrete...do not over or under step
o) holes being worked on - slowly but surely....as time permits.......
#7long basket, #6 short tee pad, #14 long basket
and #17 long basket still needs work to make it 'more playable'.
NEWS(20240424-TLS) - some of this is quite old at this point
o) new 5x14 concrete remesh reinforced tee pads were poured 20240424:
HOLES 1,4,8,10,12,15,18
These will
NOT be ready for play until at least 20240510-20240422
These may be surrounded by caution tape until ready for play.
Please do not distrub these areas until they are ready.
All of these tee pads will make the hole longer...except for #8 which is shorter
I will refer to these as LONG01, LONG04, SHORT08 and so on.
All long tee pads are meant for higher skilled players.
Pars have not been decided at this point...but we have a good idea.....
o) i hope to hang small white plastic cards on the new tee pad posts
indicating measured distance and elevation....and eventually pars....
