Josh Russell's review is very detailed and accurate. He calls most holes either cool, very cool, or WAY COOL, but arrives at a B- rating. This is a course that favors big arms and those looking for respite from woods golf. It is well designed for the land, and well maintained. I'm not a fan of some of the new baskets on 4, 7, and 12 though, but the new basket location on 6 is great.

Good change up for the area considering most courses around here are wooded. The signage and tee pads are the best around and the river playing into a few holes is cool. The tall grass/rough on the back 9 eats discs and gets a little aggravating. Some of the field holes could be a little more creative but nice open park course.

This course is great, and has endless potential. There are a lot of long bomber holes, but a fair share of ace runs and must get birdies. The river and butterfly sanctuary add to the beauty of this place, but will punish you big time for a bad shot. The new short tees are going to make it even more enjoyable for more people. Beware of mud and flooding if its wet out.

My kids and I are new to the sport but we absolutely love it and we absolutely love Mott Park DGC. It has a perfect mix of shorter holes and longer ones and lots of open ground to practice distance drives. The Flint River flows gently through the center of the course and offers great water challenges. The meadow sections are full of butterflies and wild flowers. The open sections are long and offer the perfect setting to show off your long throw abilities. I grew up a few blocks from here, and over the years the park began to show its age. Not any more. It is clean, safe, beautiful, and fun. There is also plenty of free parking. Flint has a reputation for being undesirable, this park is a wonderful example of how GREAT Flint can be. I strongly recommend you come out and try it.

I really enjoy the golf course feel of this place. I can envision the clubhouse being open one day with a full bar and proshop. This place would be a destination if that were the case. Also I can see this being a great place for tournament play, witht the 18th green having a nice place for spectators to enjoy the winners final putt. Great job guys!

A great course installed and funded by some great people. It was an awesome idea to use the old ball golf course and bringing people back out there. This course is a lot of fun and has several different challenges. Nice tee pads, signs, and baskets. Better have a big arm or some of the holes par might be out of reach.. Love the over the river shots. Downfall is the flooding in the spring. We will have to wait for a dry spell in order for it to be playable in the summer.

An awesome course for the Flint area. Good layout and mix of shots. Some long holes favor the big arms but also manageable with accurate throws for those limited to 300 foot drives like me. I was pleasantly surprised that even though the river is a threat on multiple holes, it can be avoided with decent shots. The rough is challenging on holes 12-16 but I easily found the few discs I threw in it. Overall, this course is definitely a nice mix of Firefighters and Frankenmuth (stated in a prior review), but also has the ball golf course benefits of Marlette. A lot of traffic on weekends...a very popular course already,

Old ball golf courses can be pretty cool. To mind comes The Ponds & Paw Paw (formerly known as Macatawa). Generally, the one thing that will be lacking is elevation. On Mott, there is one elevated shot, hole 17. I liked it, even though it was a windy day that was slapping my discs in all kinds of different directions. What it lacked in elevation, it certainly made up for in water hazards. There is a river running through the park & separates some of the course. It comes into play a few times. With the wind blowing as hard as it was, I must admit I was a tad bit nervous to throw across the river, but picked the most stable, expendable disc in the bag & went for it. The span of the river is not too great a distance, probably 200 feet. The first time across is fairly wide open without anything to get in the way. The way back, however, is another story. You must clear a gap of about 50 or so feet between some trees. It's not hard to imagine a disc crossing the river without any trouble, but slamming into one of the trees and plummeting into the river. And imagine is all I could do, this time, because I managed to clear the gap. Great teepads, about 4 x10, I guess. Temporary signage was nothing fancy, but got the job done. Flow of the course was fairly simple. There is a lot of length to this course. It was a bit soggy in areas, but not so much because of the river. Overall, a really nice course.

This course was built on an old golf course and is a very long, open, throw farther than you can see, type of course. These types of courses are never my favorite, and most casuals, beginners, alztimers, am4's, women, and children will not like this course. But most seasoned discer's, esp. those with big arms are gonna love it. Hole 1 is a hyzer shot to the basket tucked in by the river, cool. Hole two is an unremarkable slight uphill ,wide open shot, my only deuce. Hole 3 is an anny preferred shot around some giant trees. Hole 4 is over the Flint river, slightly downhill. Way cool. Hole 5 is slightly uphill, over stumps, under trees, to a basket behind what looks like an elevated burm. Way cool. Hole 6 is long with a few trees in the way. Hole 7 has the teepad tucked in by the river, an awesome spot for a break, to the basket by the river, Cool. Hole 8 has trees on left side and two giant trees in front and framing the basket, very nice. Hole 9 is super long with trees on left. Hole 10 is downhill with tree on left. Hole 11 is the signature hole and is one of the most very special holes that you ever will see. It plays back over the Flint river to a basket placed in several GIANT trees. WAY- WAY COOL! Bring your camera for this one. Holes 12 - 18 play around a field. Holes 12 to 16 have severe rough on the right that is a bummer, but if removed would severely lessen these holes. The fairways are plenty ample. Hole 12 is a hyzer over the rough to the basket behind a tree and next to the river, Cool. Hole 13 is quite long with rough on right and river on left and a ditch in front of basket, nice. Hole 14 is another super long hole with river on left, rough on right and a very nice circle for the basket on the left. Hole 15 is left to right, with rough on both sides, then straight to the basket behind a small pond, cool hole. Hole 16 is a downhill anny with a tree on right to go around. Hole 17 is an extreme downhill, long shot, to the basket behind a giant tree, way cool. Hole 18 is an unremarkable slightly downhill shot. Cons to the course are, very long course, there are no holes that I can reach. Few obstacles. Windy days should make for a miserable score. Hole 5's teepad can easily be hit by Hole 4's teeshot. Significant potential for lost disc's. Pro's are, very nice cement teepads. Chainstar baskets with a 19'th for warm up. 2 holes are played over the river with hole 11 being absurdly awesome, a world class disc golf hole for surel. Good flow to the course. Well designed for what land they had to work with. Overall impression was that this course has some of the fun factor and I will certainly be back on calm days.

I am lucky that i have not lost a disc here yet. I would like to see benches and trash cans on every hole. other than that thanks for a great course thats closer to home.

Nice long cement tees and good holes making use of the trees river and lay of the land with the distances. Nice out of bounds roughs on the back that some people need to realize should be rough and punishing this makes the course a challenge. Only good things to say here the years of league donations have went to a superb cause with this course. I am so glad to have this course in finally and only good things to happen in the future.

Played it the second day it was in. Overall a pretty solid course. Old golf course land so not the most technically challenging course I have ever played. Most of the challenge comes from the length with multiple holes being over 400' and a few probably close to 800'. No absurdly short holes to be found. Walks between pads aren't too bad and will work well for tourney flow. Signs weren't up while I was there which made things a little more difficult but it was a good experience anyways.

The course went in on October 7th, 2017. There isn't a lot of obstacles to work with on the land, it what is there was utilized well. A good mix of 300ft (give or take) and big long shots (450+). It ... show more ›

The course went in on October 7th, 2017. There isn't a lot of obstacles to work with on the land, it what is there was utilized well. A good mix of 300ft (give or take) and big long shots (450+). It is a one of a kind course in our area with it's mix of big arm throws that will require players to actually aim for places to land before throwing to the basket. Also good use of the flint river as OB on two river crossing shots and a few baskets close to it. Concrete tee pads. A few holes have long walks to the new teepads, but they aren't too bad.

This was a really great place for a temp course, would be happy to see this one go in permanently. First Flint Town Flyerz tournament actually in Flint. Lots of longer drives, several over the Flint River. A couple with the river behind for some scary OB, plenty of discs were lost. Giving this a B+ but could easily be higher with permanent baskets that were all the same and a little care. I'd go A+ if someone would fix up the Pro Shop and make it a disc golf shop, and rent out a few golf carts!
