Raised baskets, zen stacks of boulders, its like Mason County dg courses had sex with Flip city and BAM!! Whiskey creek was born!!!! lol
There is a store with drinks and snacks and sandwiches and you're so far.off the grid you feel like you're on vacation,even if it's only for the day

Very impressed with this course. Worth the trip for sure. Nicely carved fairways with elevation to deal with on most holes and lot's of trees and foliage to make it challenging. The beautiful rock gardens and formations add to the scenery and make for additional obstacles.
With better tee pads and fewer distractions from the ATV vehicles racing around, this course would rate even better.

All holes are a kodak moment and most have extreme elevation changes.You better be hitting your lines when you play here or you are in TROUBLE! This course is not cart friendly and you will have gotten your exercise. If your rating is 920 or less you will be happy breaking 80. The manmade rock formations are awesome out there! Top shelf course that all should play for sure! The fun factor is off the charts here. I will be back!

Everyone has heard about Whiskey's teepads. Some are generous and others are tiny, turtle shell lookin' poured concrete pads. Signage is great with directions to the next tee near every basket. Scenery is stunning. Be prepared to pick gnats out of your eyeballs though. All in all a challenging, technical course. Would easily be an A+ with uniform teepads.

Picturesque views and some awesome pin locations. It is definitely a challenging course, relatively new and continuously worked on, but is not worth a bad rating because of it. I personally put this up there with Flip City.

Extreme elevation variability in comparison to other courses in the state. Vigorous Up-and-down on 75% of the holes. Practically every drive is blind. The course layout is somewhat difficult to follow with the course map provided on the scorecard. The tee pads are unacceptably short for tournament play given the required strength for most drives, and several pads are slippery even dry; since this course is used for the state championships, it accommodates serious players who deserve better consideration safety-wise. I am sorry. I would like to support courses with a generous review, but I cannot in this case. Given the $5/day fee strictly enforced, there is no excuse for shoddy tee pads that are inadequate in length and in some cases slippery enough to cause severe injury. On top of that, to be honest, the staff members I encountered were quite rude to me on multiple occasions. Therefore, I am downgrading this from a D+ to an F-. There are far too many courses nearby better kept and run by classier sorts.

Well worth $5 for the beautiful upkeep alone!

This is a really nice course that was pretty well maintained. The tee pads are really bad in most areas though which is why it's not an A course, natural tees would be better to be honest. There is a ton of elevation changes out here and some pretty unique shots. Tons of birdie ops if you know how to get them. Some of the rough gets pretty rough too so also some bogey ops for misplaced shots. People that ran the place seemed pretty friendly and camping 10 bucks a head not too shabby.

Pros- Has a great variation of holes with plenty of elevation. Well thought out and designed and every hole is fair. Will test out every disc in your bag.
Cons- some tee pads could be improved.
Give this course a chance because the rating it currently has is certainly unfair.

Some awesome use of elevation and a great finishing hole. There are a few elevated baskets which I think are fun to putt on. Not to mention the baskets are amazing. The teepads need work, navigation can be iffy in spots and some tall flags on top of blind baskets would be awesome. Overall, fantastic course with a lot of potential.

Thanks to the greed of the owners of this course I will never play here again. They have no idea what the great sport of disc golf is about. All they showed us this weekend was how greedy they really are. I heard they promised completed tee pads and they gave us little pieces of shit pads on all but 3 holes. Then to try to charge $10 at the last second to come to the after states party that was supposed to be free is just ridiculous. That is why i'm giving them the lowest grade you can get until ownership changes their ways. They should take a look at how Bill McKenzie does it at Flip City. He is what every disc golf course owner should strive to be like. Bill knows what this game is about and the owners of Whiskey Creek have no clue. BOYCOTT WHISKEY CREEK

The lack of teepads will be addressed I'm sure of it but what they have now work just fine because they are level through the entire teeing area. I myself will not cut ties with the course even though I disagree with there antics.

I will drive right by your place and go play another course. If I hear of anyone I know, contemplating on where to stay in that vacinity, I will direct them to another campground. Have a great day.

Teepads. Throw away every garbage teepad besides 1,2, and 4 and you have a solid A course. The shots required on most of the holes with uneven, 3x4' scrap splats of "so called teepads" cause some of the worst run up conditions out there for a course that requires a pretty solid run up for most of the holes. Charging $5 per person to play and they don't even have proper teepads. This course could be soooo much better. I would rather throw from a natural teepad all day than what they have to offer at this course.

Only played 1 hole of a sick disc golf course but will not give it any love because of the people who own the property. Do not support these greedy big headed fucks. I may return one day to play but I sure hope some serious changes are made. Things I seen staying at the campground such as young children driving atvs unsupervised throughout the property lead me to believe this campground will not be around very long with the current owners some one of these kids is gonna get seriously hurt with the treacherous terrain and an ambulance would take like an hour to get there unless maybe it's a helicopter. There need to be better distribution of bathroom facilities through the property some type of security to maintain a peaceful noise level in the after midnight hours would prove useful and the fact that nobody was checking cars coming in to the disc golf camping area or any of the areas for that part (until after the awards on Sunday and it was player party time) I could have not paid for my weekend of camping if I was that type of person and probably think I shouldn't have after seeing what they pulled on Sunday. Dan Gipe (real good guy) put endless hours of work into this course and into doing fireworks etc. I hope these people get their shit straight with their business the course and the way they handle things

The owners of Whiskey Creek really did a good job bringing in a team, Mason County Disc Golf Club (MCDGC) mostly Dan Gipe, to design and install the course for the 2015 Discraft Michigan Disc Golf State Championship. The elevation changes make the disc golfer work hard at just traversing the course, the details like rock formations throughout the course, large tee pads, and unique tee signs only add to the future success this course will enjoy. You can tell that the owners of Whiskey Creek have put a lot of effort into their course and it is worthy of hosting major events even in its infancy stage. With more work already planned to complete what they have, this course will be one the players look forward to play for many years to come.

Great course, lots of elevation and views - and rock formations similar to Flip City. I love a course where you can toss 300 foot and have it go 450! Elevated baskets, tight lines and open, red/white/blue baskets, forehand and backhand shots and a couple of amazing teepads (hopefully they build them throughout). Once this course beats in it could be world class. Drawbacks were tons of gnats, they really need to add bat houses. Also heard they had some disagreements with the staff of the State Championships and won't be part of States in the future - so I guess it's lucky I played it this year as I will likely not go back if they don't make amends with States....

Small man made lake and an indoor pool were great to use and unwind after a long and exhausting round. We will definitely add this to the list of places to camp during the summer!

I think the course is fantastic! it is certainly rough around the edges, but with increased play will beat in nicely. The elevation changes make the course play tougher than it is, due to the amount of hiking a round takes. I normally play pretty fast when solo and each round took me about two hours to play.

The custom 'merica baskets are awesome looking. The two rock pin locations are great. The amount of work put into this course in the first year is outstanding.

The course could certainly use numbered baskets, and even flags on baskets for the blind shots. The first day i played i found myself walking up a lot of fairways just to see the basket. 21,22,23 could stand for some improvement. I found the tees to be ok. If they were 100% leveled they would be sufficient, but many had craters down the middle of the pad and near the front from all the tee shots. I could usually find a semi flat area to tee from the side or back.

The holes/design arent that challenging in themselves, but the amount of hiking adds to fatigue level which is a chalenge in itslef.

You can tell that there has been a LOT of hours put into the course which is really nice! The rocky raised baskets on 1 and 16 are really cool. I enjoy the elevation changes and there seems to be a good amount of left/right/straight holes. I played this course in December when it didn't have its "makeup" on (no leaves to frame holes) so the wow factor was lessened. This is a great Am2/Am3 difficulty level course but Am1's/Pros are left with a deuce or die test. With 3 or 4 other courses in the area with similar difficulty, I'd rather play 60-some shots in 18 holes rather than 60-some shots on 24 holes. I'll be interested to play the finished product but I wish this was a tougher track to diversify the courses in the Shelby/Ludington/Scottville area.
