The Beacon Hill Park Disc Golf Course is at it’s best this time of year with weeds at their lowest, fields are green, and Hog Hollow Creek is usually raging, making for an interesting challenge on several holes, particularly Hole 11. The park is large, allowing for ample room to practice social distancing. With that in mind, I challenge you to come play at least once in the next 10 days as part of the Corona Chaos 10-Day Boredom Buster, a semi-virtual tournament. March 26 (Thur.) - April 4 (Sat.)

- Only play by yourself or your family…whenever you want

- Handle your own disc policy

- Avoid mass gatherings and others on the course (group of 10 max…it’s the law)

- Start on any hole you wish, to avoid backups

- Virtual registration, virtual score reporting, real awards sent by PayPal or Venmo


Recording Process:

- Send score card to [email redacted]

- Date & Time of game

- Course (Blue or Red)

- Score (all holes are par 3)

*I’ll attempt to have a daily leaderboard posted on www.discgolfscene.com


Rules:

- All holes are par 3

- Mandos in effect on Holes 3 and 4 (play to the left of the arrow)

- Parking lot and road in play

- Shaking disc out of tree no penalty, but must play it where it lands

- Play each course (Blue & Red) one time max each day

- Be honest with yourself and fellow players


Awards:

- Cash payouts based on registration revenues; all proceeds going to winners

o Blue 1st - 30%, 2nd - 15%, 3rd - 10%, 4th - 5%, 5th - 5%, 6th - 5%

o Red 1st - 15%, 2nd - 10%, 3rd - 5%

- Ties will be broken by reviewing handicap ratings of holes

- All Scores and winners announced by email and on our Facebook page

- Payouts by Venmo, PayPal, or check

- Deadly trees (up to 4 inch spikes on branches) on Hole 16 have been trimmed

Have extra time on your hands? - Service Ideas for the Course:
- Verify all posted distances from tee box to basket (you need a laser measurer)
- Analyze the stated handicaps on attached score card; make recommendations
- Clean out brush at approach area at basket of Hole 6
- Clean out brush in corner forest by basket of Hole 7
- Clean out brush & dead wood at approach area at basket of Hole 11
- Build tee boxes at Blue 14, 15, 16, and 17
- Pile up dead wood in designated piles (anti-fire efforts)
- Pick up trash

Q - Will we host a Trilogy Challenge this summer? Maybe on Aug. 27, but time will tell.

It looks like this location had some great potential for an 18 hole course however there are a few things you should know before you go. No official tee pads or baskets yet. It’s laid out with some signage and surveying stakes for each tee pad and pin location, but no baskets yet (except a portable on #18). Also holes 16-18 need some work as they play through some tight scrub oak that would need some clearing to provide flight paths (my opinion).

I talked with the developer and for some short term improvements he is looking to have trash removed and trails improved. He said it would be a while before we see baskets there because he needs some donations. He really wants players to comment on hole layout before pads get installed.
