Pros

- Entrance is well marked by the camp grounds sign

Pros
- Plenty of parking and pavilions with grills
- Entrance is well marked by the camp grounds sign
- Beautiful camp ground with volley ball, fun boats, peddle boats, fishing lake, swimming pool & hiking trails. You can rent a house, cabin or camp site and visit this course along with other nearby courses and of course all the beautiful tourist sites that Hocking has.
- Bathrooms are located in the Bath House in the center of the camp grounds and by Hole #4 (pool area)
- You can rent discs at the Camp Office (you can purchase a floater disc too!)
- Baskets are brand new and in perfect condition
- Natural tees have front boards and are in great condition
- The course flows very nicely. Hole #1 starts near the parking area right by the dock on the lake. The last hole ends at the parking lot.
- With only 6 holes there is still a mix of shots. Hole #1 turns left and you can throw out over the water if need be. Hole #3 turned right and uphill or left over the water (had to use an uphill forehand roller to get out of trouble on this hole)
- The scenery and landscape are just picturesque and could be on a magazine cover. The rolling hills and small lake really make an attractive design.
- The holes aren’t measured yet but the distances are pretty nice and make good use the land provided. The holes will be moved but when I played I would guess them to be; 330, 315, 330, 250, 550, 280
- Upkeep is top notch. The course is clean, no vandalism, and trashcans can be found at the parking area.
- No traffic. The only place where you might have to wait to allow someone to pass is teeing off at Hole #1 since it is by the docs
- The water hazard really adds to the enjoyment of the course
Cons
- The obvious con to this is that it is short. Because of how nice the land is here I hope that one day this could be a 9 hole course.
- A few of the tees were too close to the previous basket. The owner is aware of this and has probably already moved them. I will be sure to play this course again the summer of 2012 and update this review.
Other Thoughts
- Still in the process of being built. Some things that we may see from this course in the future is multiple tees for the long holes, drop zone for the water hazard, scorecard with hole lengths, addition of possibly 3 more holes, new holes may be through the wooded area, tee signs for each hole & course map.
- It is $2 to play and you can play as many rounds as you wish all day. Here is a quote from the email I received from Happy Hills Camp Ground and Cabins on 07/26/2011, “We do rent the discs for $5. They can play as long as they would like. If they wanted to use the pool and the lake and take advantage of what we have going on here at the campground as well as play the course it would be $4 for the day.
The bath house is in the center of the campground and there is a porta toilet on the side of the course the pool is on.â€
- This is a beautiful piece of land with a lot of potential and owned by someone that really cares about making it even better.
- I found the course to be challenging for me. Hole #2 takes a bit of an arm to over the water. Hole #3, takes some finesse and planning to decide the longer water RHBH hyzer route or the more direct uphill straight shot. Hole #5 has the challenge of staying in between the water and the road while trying to get as much distance out of the downhill shot as possible.
- My favorite hole is #2. I enjoyed the challenge of throwing over the lake along with the beautiful landscape.
- Being that the course is only 6 holes at the moment, it is not a course that you would travel hundreds of miles to go to, however, this would be a Fantastic base of operations to set up camp! You could lay low here, play some disc golf, then hit up the courses at Hocking College and Hocking Peaks. Then do some OGO ball and zip lining at Hocking Peaks, rent a boat and do some fishing at Lake Hope, visit the numerous attractions like Old Man’s Cave, Cedar Falls & Rock House.
