Definitely the most under-rated course in the area. It's got a great variety of short and long holes and different lines. Challenging course to par but only a few places you're likely to lose a disc (which is nice). Every hole has a line or two, so there's no throw-and-hope holes. It's rarely busy so you're not waiting around like you are at Cass.
The grass tees are really the only down-side to this course. I'd give it an A if it had some concrete pads. TIP: I prefer to park in the lot between Hole 4/5 and start on hole 5 OR the parking lot by the basket on 16 and start on 17 for the most efficient round.

Very fun, very unique course. Some of the city backdrops in the first few holes are absolutely awesome. Hole 17, the course's signature hole in my opinion, will soon be the prettiest disc golf hole in Metro Detroit once the pond fills up and the grass comes in on 17 and 18.

If you haven't played LTU lately, try to work it into your rotation. Its central location is perfect for meeting up with friends for casual rounds. The course is MUCH better than Starr / Wagner, and right on par with Firefighters, Lakeshore, and some of our other top non-paid courses as far as enjoyment and re-playability. There's a ton of variety in hole length and shape, obstacles, locations, backdrops, unique greens, and more.

You definitely "get your money's worth" at LTU, as the property is massive and the course leaves you wanting more. Bart has done an excellent job putting Devil's Creek on the map and it will continue to get better and better.

First let's get one thing out of the way. This is a course playing through and around a college campus. There are not any tee pads but semi permanence is important when working around buildings and campus construction.

This course is flat out fun. There was not a single hole I played that felt like a "filler" or a waste. Accuracy is a must here! Playing with parking lots, roads, and rivers throughout adds an interesting dynamic. Go check this place out!

I do not know how this course is rated a B. Drove the 20 minutes to go play somewhere different. Spent 10 minutes driving around campus trying to find hole 1. Had to go off a picture post on here to get an idea. The map that is pictured in the picture is gone. Hole 1 tee sign has been moved to just by the stairs. Grass is over grown to the MAX. No clue where the tee was supposed to be as there are no tees at all. Walked to find hole 2. Found the tee sign for hole 2 and went the opposite of where the tee sign was to find a basket out in the middle of a mini dried up marsh. No clue how to get to 3. Was swarmed by mosquitoes. I said screw this and we left. Very disappointed in this course. No direction to the lay out not marked. FAIL!! Never will play again.

I've changed my mind about this course since my last review. I think I was caught up in my dissapointment with what we got versus what I was expecting, but it actually is a decent course. Many different shots are required and there is a variety of distances. My only gripe is that there are more than a few holes that are very close to busy roads and parking lots. Take care in your throw and make sure it hits where you're aiming.

Did not really care for how urban it is being next to parking lots and main roads, but they did the best with the area they could. Signs were terrible and confusing had to look at pics on here to find where to go on a few holes.

Lots of potential with some love and care. Roadway was about 50' from the fairway on holes 4 and 5. The 50' pitch shot down the stairwell comprising hole one was disappointing for the first hole. Would almost feel guilty registering an ace on it.

Very pleased to see the University showing. interest in the sport, and supporting it with an 18 hole coarse. Kudos to the effort. It is a good start, now it needs telling, signage and pads. Maybe some added D on a couple holes as well. Be nice for hole one to tee off and shoot over the river.

There are good baskets, and designers were'nt afraid to position them close to building, sidewalks, and generally they used the land they had, very well. The course plays around the campus basically

First time playing. Not a great course. Not a terrible course.

Pros:
- Cool urban/wooded layout
- Decent use of land given
- Good balance of rhb, lhb, and straight holes
- Hole 18 is one of the best golf holes I have ever seen
- Cool structural obstacles on back 9

Cons:
- Holes 1 and 2 are a joke
- Open field holes play next to Lodge service drive and traffic is a bit distracting
- Long walks between front 9 and back 9, hole 18 and parking lot
- Couldn't find Hole #1 tee sign
- Tee signs are poorly designed/placed
- Unclear tee pad markings
- By the low lying layout of some holes, I can guess that it will flood/be muddy come spring thaw

The multiple diverse elements are what makes this course unique. This course takes you on a journey down through a wooded valley where the Rouge River runs through, back up to a giant clearing ('the Pointe'), down back into the woods, through the outskirts of the campus, back into the woods and finally along the urban setting of the service drive. North housing, a giant sculptural structure, 10 feet tall weeds, and the urban/natural mix of the course keeps me going back.

You need to play smart and act smart here. Beautiful holes and a perfect blend of the natural with the urban/industrial. The yellow top discatchers look effing amazing set against the high rises of Southfield. Our first postmodern disc golf course? Lack of good signs, teepads benches and other amenities take it down to a B but it goes up a grade because it's different.

Yes, the course is cramped. Yes, most of the holes are really narrow and close to busy roads, sidewalks, etc. The tee signs maybe facing the wrong way, and there are no tee pads, but you don't really need any of them, if you've walked through it once. Considering what the designer had to work with, the land is supposedly protected marshland, the course is not that bad. Some shots are tight, and force you to use control, and are unforgiving, but that makes better disc golfers, right? And the wide open holes along the lodge and 11 mile, the shots are bordered by trees, so unless you really can't keep a disc from taking a straight left off your throw, you will be fine. Not a "beginners" course by any means, but I have played through it multiple times, and I still suck at the game, and its worked out fine. The back nine is definitely less forgiving than the front, forcing you to play through the campus, but already the response by the students has been positive. Holes have been moved, and I'm sure they will be moved again, it is a young course. Definitely a late fall winter course, as there are a lot of thick spots where losing a disc would be easy. Not a course for the easily frustrated, but if you wanna work on control, with a few bomber holes, this isn't too bad.
