Good Afternoon Team Utah Disc Golf!
I wanted to reach out to you about an event the Dept of the VA is holding, the VA Golden Age Games. As part of this event for our Veterans we are adding a Visually Impaired Disc Golf event which is a recent addition to the Golden Age Games. For this event to really shine we’re going to need a lot of help from the local disc golf scene. I’m hoping to work with your club to get a number of volunteers for VI Disc Golf to assist our veterans as note ...

Hey all:
I am looking for information on how I would go about starting a fundraising tournament. I work at an treatment center for individuals struggling with addiction and co-occurring mental health issues and we are starting a non-profit foundation to help individuals that are seeking treatment.
We wanted to try something different since it seems like every non-profit foundation like this always hosts a regular golf tournament, and we wanted to stand out. I also use disc golf as an inte ...

Looking for disc golf courses with a cart available in the slc area?
Charlotte thanks for responding! The Portal at Rose Park eh? Ok...have you played it?
Yes, it's a typical golf course style. Long and pretty open fairways. They did pretty good with what they had to work with, and I really like the MVP baskets on the course.
Par is 60 I believe - Hole 18 is a 1100+ ft par 5 and there are 4 par 4 throughout.

I'm going to be near the Salt Lake and Provo areas on Sunday-Wednesday this coming week looking to play some disc golf. Where are some must play? Also are the any clubs in the area to participate in a club event and get a bag tag while i'm in town?
Thanks all. I will look into these. Unfortunately I will be working Saturday so can't make the trailside trilogy challenge but hope to play a few casual rounds at some great courses.

I'm traveling to SLC from Alaska and was looking to play some of the courses while there and see there is a tournament at Solitude but the wait list is deep now. Just wondering if getting in on the wait list is worth the time and where else should I play if Solitude is not possible.
Solitude's course is open daily until Sept 7, so you may be able to get a round in on one of the weekdays after the tounament. If you are into it, you can play the course before the lifts open by hiking about a mile from Silver lake in Brighton to the basket on hole #1. That does require you ... more
David I really appreciate the heads up an local suggestions, I planed on playing Creekside but I will be renting a car and get around to as many as I can.

Hi, I have been playing disc golf for about a year now and I am looking for people to play with. I like to play and have fun, but also have others to compete with. I live in Sandy, but I play as far north as the U, and as far south as dry creek and art dye. What is the best way of hooking up with people and playing?
If you are also on Facebook, consider joining the SLC Tunnel Runners (for SL valley) and the Wasatch Disc Golf Club for Utah County information and players. There isn't too much happening on this site except for tournament registration. Good luck!
Tuesday night Dubs at Creekside Park, 6PM tee off - $5-$10 depending on your level of play.

Disc golf continues to grow exponentially but under the mainstream radar… This lifestyle sport has everything to do with landscape design, culture and leisure recreation for an increasingly urban world… Anyone interested in this subject should check out this 2013 MLA thesis from Cal Poly Pomona: Disc Golf Course Design: Inscribing Lifestyle into Underutilized Landscapes, for the short, cold months ahead:

Does anyone have any news on the proposed DG course in Rose Park? Markus told me the county allotted $10k for a temp course to be in by November, but obviously those plans have changed.
Saturday I talked to some golfers playing there. They said 25 years ago the par 3 section south of the main golf course was a DG course, and the county met in September to discuss plans for returning it to DG. The county's meeting agenda said the representative for the new course is Dan Roper. Anyone know more about this or how to contact Dan?
David, the return of the DG course at Jordan River Parkway in Rose Park will take place very soon. The city did provide a 10k grant that was awarded to the Tunnel Runners DG club. The baskets are in Salt Lake and the ball golf course closes permanently on Oct. 31. If you go look at the course you ... more

Does anybody know Trevor White? Trying to get a disc back to him.
Not anyone I know in my circles. I applaud that your working to get it back to him though! I still have a few I was never able to track down the owner to return it.

It is with a great deal of interest as I read the bashing katherine biel a columnist for the city weekly gave the disc golf community as a whole in her hits and misses column on page 8 of todays city weekly. It would appear that she is much more comfortable accepting typical stereotypes of disc golfers rather then get off her lazy ass and do some research into the athleticism and quality and caliber of todays players. I find it humorous that she would take this approach given the liberal stance ... more
I have and emailed all involved. everybody try and temper their responses the executive editor John Saltas has already responded to me and has assured his interest getting our story out there. This has the potential to really work to our benefit. I'm not saying don't bitch but try and keep it civil got a feeling they are going to be future friends.
Thanks Richard, a disc golf buddy of ours is also a writer and we have been talking about an article highlighting disc golf and the prospects for a new course as well. When he saw this, he made sure he mentioned to me that this went through without anyone talking to him first. He went to the editors ... more

Hey everyone. I'm moving back to SLC next week and playing as much DG as I possibly can. Would like to play with a group of people that can show me some stuff since I'm still learning. I plan on mainly going to creekside since it is the closest to where I will be living. Not sure if the night league there will be good for my schedule as far as work goes, but would be nice to at least try it out. Add me to your friends list if you want to hook up and play some DG.
I'm moving to SLC area next week also..hoping to have lots of DG fun!
We play a random doubles match Tuesday nights about 6 or 5:30. easy way to get to know people. there is an A pool (advanced players division) and a B pool (beginners division).
Only one in SLC is the Portal at Rose Park Golf Course. Up north further you can get a cart at Mulligan's Creekside (where they play the Utah Open) and also at Sherwood Hills in Sardine Canyon.
