Upcoming Tournament: If you don't know we are hosting a Doubles charity event at Chikumbuso in CT, on the 11th of September. Sign up and registration are at https://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments/ADGC_Double_Struggle_for_Chikumbuso_Presented_by_Dynamic_Discs_2021. We will be sponsoring a hole permanently at the course, as well as making a sizable donation to the Friends of Chikumbuso. We have a sweet custom stamped disc that will be provided to all participants as well, and its for a good cause so go sign up.
Tag League: The Tag league is going strong, with AJ remaining the #1 tag holder this season. The 50/50 Ace Pot has seen some restructuring. We have created a second pot that will be building while the current one rests at $350. All ace pot contributions will go towards the #2 pot until it is at $46, at that time the main pot will build again. This will cycle as necessary, to ensure once the main pot is won, we don't have to start at zero and there will immediately be a sizeable ace pot on the line again. A little less than half of the tag league members are fairly inactive however, and I'd really like to see a bit of activity from you guys. We will be addressing this further in a bit.
Wednesday Random Dubs: Our Wednesday night doubles, held at 6 pm at UMass Dartmouth is doing great as well. Last week we had a record turn out of 23 people. The current ace pot is resting at $150. A second pot is building and is currently at $55, for all the same reasons mentioned above. It is only 9 holes and a pretty laid back way to kill a Wednesday night, so if you haven't checked it out yet, I recommend swinging by one week.
Club restructuring: So after some deliberation with several members we have decided to change the way league tags works NEXT season. This will not effect the 2021 season in anyway. It is very likely many people wanted to buy the tag to help the club out, and less focused on participation in the tag process. These tags where all made and pass on to everyone at cost. The tag league was designed specifically to have every member be active. However, for those members who wish to be officially part of the club, yet aren't as gung ho about the tag league itself this has presented a problem. So going forward with next season we will offer two separate tags. We will have club member tag, this will be sold at cost, most likely around $10 to anyone who wishes to be an official member of the club. It will be similar in appearance to the numbered tags, but instead of having a number, will simply say member. The tag league tags, the numbered ones, will be more expensive. This is to deter people from simply collecting it, and only have people who actually wish to participate in the tag matches purchase them. Both tags will come with some benefits, although modest. We are currently on track to run 2 or 3 tournaments per season, and any member with either tag will receive a discount on tournament entry, as well as being able to sign up for the events 2 weeks before the general public.
As always, if you have any comments, suggestions, or questions, feel free to contact the club, we greatly appreciate any and all feed back.
Regards,
~Josh, Club President
