(RNN) - The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF), which includes ultimate Frisbee, was recognized as a sport by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Sunday.

Ultimate Frisbee is a non-contact, team sport played with no referees and a flying disc. The game is played on a large field with an end zone for each team, which consists of seven players.

IOC recognition means the WFDF is responsible for managing and monitoring the everyday running of the sport, establishing technical aspects of their sport at Olympic Games and developing the sport worldwide.

The recognition does not, however, guarantee ultimate Frisbee will be included in the next Olympic Games. However, if the game is ever included in the Olympics, the WFDF will be the group in charge.

"This is an incredible milestone in the 30-year history of WFDF and a further important step for our International Federation in the development of our sport worldwide," said WFDF President Robert Rauch in a statement. "There could be no bigger anniversary present to the WFDF, which was launched in August 1985, and we are looking forward to continuing to work with the IOC as our partner in promoting flying disc sports around the globe."

The World Flying Disc Federation also represents all flying disc sports including ultimate, beach ultimate, disc golf, freestyle, guts and other events.

During the same meeting, the IOC also granted full recognition to South Sudan, which became a country in 2011.

As most of you've know I've been MIA for awhile due to Hunting Season, Which just wrapped up. That being said, I'm back and Ready to start kicking things off again... Starting with this Sunday! Gorilla Get Down! The New year is rapidly approaching and with it, brings change... The 2015 Year is going to be very exciting with all that is brewing amongst Ronin, Rob, and myself. We are going to be having more League Get Down's and Events... The Gorilla Cup last Memorial Day was the First of its kind and will be repeated again next year along with some more exciting Club Tournaments! The ideas being instilled into the Family here very soon are as necessary as is everyone's participation... Please know that one of us will be calling each and everyone of you in January for your input into the changes ahead as we are all wanting everyone on the same page. Sup to all!! OK, got the word that a couple 'Backs are hedn out to Milo around 1pm to procure some camp spots for us. If there is nothing available there, or not enough for us to all kick it, we will be hedn up the river to our very familiar camping area on Fish Creek, just past the reservoir.

I will post on here exactly where the camping will be taking place, so you all will know where to be if you want to camp. Otherwise, we will be playing very early rounds, then floating the river in some capacity when the day gets toasty.

So bring your personal floatation devices, discs, and tents, and join us!! Contact me with any questions!

Well, Ladies and Gents, I figured that I'd make it official. In celebration of Cordova making it to another birthday, we are gonna tear up Milo! Cordova and Klein already have their campsite reserved already, I think, and the Gorillas haven't invaded Milo for quite a while...it's time.

Invite to all 'Backs to join in on the festivities! With any luck, the courses will be in the BSF layout, ready for the World's..! Obviously, this will be a tag match GetDown!!

As you all know, camping is available at the park, with a first come first served tenting area. If you plan on staying overnight, talk with Chris or Josh about their plans, and I recommend getting there EARLY.

Well, Fam...it's here! This weekend is going to be EPIC!!! We have so much in store for you when you show up, you won't know what to do with yourselves! Be sure to bring your skrilla for Dru if you haven't made arrangements already, and you might want to bring a bit extra cash with you for some other stuff too! If you need any extra camping gear, say something on here, I know many of us have extra tents/bedding/etc., myself included. Bring something to throw on the grill, if you need to, I can burn meat good...reeeaaaal good.

We are confirmed for Campsite J, so look for the SilverBack Banner down there, and make sure you check with either Dru or I about where to set up your tent. We are going to have a solid turnout, and we have a plan to maximize space.

Our first official event for the weekend will be a Glow Round starting at 9pm. We have many events scheduled throughout the weekend, and will be encouraging everyone to participate in as many as they can...and, you know we'll have GTI Tag Matches, and Monkey Dubs Rounds goin on all weekend. The scheduled Official Rounds will be scored and tallied, and there will be a winner crowned for the weekend.

Don't worry, we've planned it out so that all SilverBacks who attend will have a fair opportunity to compete for the championship..! No need to be there at the end to win, either! I understand that not all of us will be able to stay the entire three day weekend...I've taken all of that into consideration! :)

This is already our biggest Memorial Day Gorilla GetDown so far, and I am sure that this weekend will be a huge spark for our Crew, and a great bonding experience for all of the Fam!!

Hey Fam...starting the official one month to go countdown to our Memorial Day Weekend Gorilla GetDown!! This year promises to be our best one yet!

If you haven't gotten your money to Stylez yet, DO IT!!!! If you can't until the GetDown, that's alright, but please make sure you bring it...DON'T BE THE ONE WHO DIDN'T! You will wish you woulda once you see what the moolah is for...

We are going to have Campsite J again...finally...good to be going "home"! If you need camping shiz, let me know, we have extra tents and things. We are all pretty familiar with Horning's, but if you need help finding us, just ask at the top where the SilverBacks are (or for Camp J), and they will show you.

We will be doing some official Gorilla Tag rounds, and we will have a leaderboard up all weekend so that we can all see where everyone is playing, and what tags are being played. We will also be doing a shitton of fun rounds (MOB STYLE TOO...Lee |) all weekend, with maybe some RIPT rounds, some Monkey Dubs, some CTP's, ACE prizes, maybe a long drive competition too..! Basically, none of us will be able to lift our throwing arms up for a week after this Memorial Day! Call it a "Throw-Until-Your-Arm-Falls-Off" weekend!

Saturday, I'm hoping to get an early start up the Clack to huk a round at Milo, then float the long float, top of Milo to Carver. The more the merrier as we Occupy the Clack!! There are shorter options to jump out if u ain't down for 7+ hours on the river (2hr, and 5hr options).

It was nice to see a few 'Backs reppin at the BMO!

Just a couple words to my homies in the crew. Thinkin we need to get together a few times comin up here pretty soon. Startin with Stubb Stewart this weekend...then I'm thinkin there's two events that we, as a squad, need to show up, represent, and have some hukkin fun! First one is the ACE Race at Horning's comin up soon (link below). Who doesn't love an ace race? Gonna be a great time, fantastic players pack, and I'll see if we can get our "home away from home", Campsite J. The other "mandatory attendance" event will be Joe's, the Cannibis Cafe Tourny at Horning's at the end of Sep. That one's in a while, so we have plenty of time to prepare for a Gorilla Invasion! Plus, Joe said there will something a li'l "special" for all his Silverback Brothers and Sisters who show!

An official welcome to our newist 'Backs, Joe, and Rob. Welcome to the family.

It's been a busy summer for all of us so far, and I'm excited for the rest of the year. Congrats is due to a few 'Backs on their performances...Andy, Adin, Stylez, nice shootin at the BMO, and Redneck Rob..?...what a great win to start your "professional" career! Joe, nice showing with a solid 2nd at the PowGnar, sorry I didn't end up on the mountain with you, Vitamin A, Redneck, and Adin.

Ebeling, Hippie, Waters, Buddy, and Kermie...I'm callin you guys out. It's been far too long since I've thrown a round with you Gorillas. Timmbo, you and Big Shawn have good excuses...well, his is good. I mean, who gave you permission to leave for the summer,Timmbo? That was not discussed. Where my Gorilla Ladies at??? Now that Shawn's coming back, I expect to see Taylor out at some late season Gorilla Invasions too, we haven't forgotten about you!

If you're in the tourney on Friday, then hit up Stylez and let him know where you're camping. The newest disc golf course in Southwest Washington will be dedicated this Sunday, March 18th, 2012 at 1 p.m. The course was made possible thanks to forward thinking park rangers, local volunteers and a generous donation from an anonymous local resident.

Volunteers have been busy working at the park building the course over the past month. The 9 hole course 80% complete and volunteers are waiting for dryer weather to complete the rest of the course. Even though the course isn't officially completed numerous golfers have made there way to the park to try out the new course already.

The events on Sunday will start at 10 a.m. with competitive rounds of golf, along with a long distance drive competition, putting contests and more. The dedication ceremony will take place at 1 p.m.

The disc golf course is located in the north end of the park under the I-5 freeway. The dedication corresponds with a free admission day at all Washington State Parks so the public will be able to attend the dedication free of charge.

I don't know about you guys... but the long Distance Drive Contest is right up my alley :)
