All Disc golfers 50 and over… there is only three weeks left to register for the 50+ DGC Senior weekend events at Kent State University which will include a ‘C’ tier disc golf tournament on July 8th and 9th along with plenty of doubles and side events that make this a totally unique disc golf experience. Saturday night will be an open forum of the 50+ Disc Golf Club Annual meeting. Come and hear what is going on and add your 2 cents. Check it out on Disc Golf Scene and hope to see you there.

Last year's Birdie Bash was an extreme success and I hope to see everyone there, the money raised from this tournament will go toward finishing up the installation of tee pads and tee signs.

Alright everyone only a week left until the Rise of the Phoenix BYOP doubles event!! We're 1/3 of the way full and counting, so if you are planning on coming out please post your name and division in the talk section to pre-reg. If you don't have a partner we will find you one! This is a fundraiser to raise money for cement tee pads, signage, and course design at JCC. We've already got 15 CTPs, each valued at over $30!! These include 6 ten year buzzzes, 4 disc golf bags, and a pair of DGA gel strapz. Come out, win some cool stuff, and support a great cause. Only $15 to play in this awesome event, and we're also doing a round of cash doubles afterwards for anyone who wants to play for some cold hard cash. Check out the event page at:

I have just heard that the director of the City of Kalamazoo Parks department has resigned, so we have a new opportunity to truly change the image of Knollwood.

Agreed Brooke, that is the great thing about leagues and the lower stakes more casual environment is a great way to introduce newer/less skilled players to competitive golf and the etiquette that goes along with that. If you get upset about $5 lost at a doubles league then you are probably in it for the wrong reasons.. I treat it as a bonus when I walk away with some cash.

That said, Local 101 Saturday doubles does cater to the more experienced player just due to the regular group (and the course). Steve P. you may want to check out 24 Chains, that is a really great fun league that typically plays for even lower stakes or many times just the bragging rights.

I disagree completely with that comment. Doubles leagues are the perfect environment to promote our sport to less skilled players. My first experience playing competitive disc golf was at the Kensington league. I had never played for money before. My partner that day was Gale Vaughn. Needless to say we had a blast and that inspired me to play more organized golf.

And now I get to kick all your asses with whatever partner I get.....;)
