The heavy winds, wet terrain, and raised water level, plagued Youth Park and anyone who decided to challenge the course. Vinny, Dan, Will, and Victor were present and ready to play for the championship.

The wind immediately played a key role as the scores got bad really fast. After the first 2 holes, Vinny and Dan sat with a +1 while Will and Victor trailed at +3. Everyone started to calm down and make shots on the front 9, but the back is when the wind picked back up and caused strange things to happen to the lighter discs.

After 9 holes:
Vinny Piperato +2
Dan Harvey +2
Will Parson +5
Victor Millar +7

Victor and Will seemed all but done after the first 9 holes, but they maintained during the second half of play and slowed down the bleeding on the course with a better performance. It was Vinny and Dan that started slipping as the winds from Hurricane Irene continued to cause interference. After 16 holes, the competition became a lot closer.

After 16 holes:
Vinny Piperato +6
Dan Harvey +6
Will Parson +7
Victor Millar +10

With only 2 holes to go, Victor became a spectator and began rooting for Will. Hole 17 gave Vinny another bogey, while Dan and Will finished with par. Now it was up to the 18th and final hole to decide the winner and champion.

After 17 holes:
Dan Harvey +6
Will Parson +7
Vinny Piperato +7
Victor Millar +11

Vinny was unable to get a great tee shot or second shot to get back into the running and force a playoff, and fell apart. Dan and Will had great layup shots and were both put into great position to finish with a par. Dan was further away with a 15 footer. All he has to do is put the disc into the basket and it's all over. He lines up and throws a dart right on target, sinking the putt and claiming the Disc Slingers Season 1 title.

With the future of the club looking bleak, Dan will most likely become the second and final champion. If there is another season, he will not return for another season. Congrats Dan and good luck in your future endeavors.

4 showed up to play in the first round of the payoffs, which resulted in a conditional advance straight to the final round. There is no longer a need to eliminate anymore combatants in a semi-final round. The finalists will play for the title sometime this month.

Vinny Piperato, Victor Millar, Will Parson, and Dan Harvey attacked Youth Park on a hot and muggy Saturday morning. Everyone came with their game face on with the course selection of the championship round up for grabs.

The front 9 played out to be an extremely close heat, making the back 9 an exciting fight to the finish. For the first time ever, a member was able to par every hole on the front 9. Kudos to Dan on that solid play. Vinny suffered a major hit to his arsenal as he shanks hole 7 and launches his champion groove right into the middle of the pond. Now he has to play without his trusted hyzer disc. Would he be able to keep pace with the seemingly unstoppable Dan? After 9 holes, the standings were:

The start of the back 9 is where the pack began to separate from one another. Dan continued to pelt away a fine game with 3 more pars and a birdie, putting him at -1 after 13... and Vinny answered right back with 2 birdies and 2 pars, putting him at -1 as well. Will and Victor started to drift further away with pars and bogeys. Everyone bogeys on hole 14, resulting in no movement on the board. After 14 holes:

With 4 holes to go, it becomes a clear head-to-head match between Vinny and Dan, who are on the verge of breaking the +4 course record. Who will emerge victorious and have the opportunity to choose where the Championship will be played?

While Victor, Will, and Dan par hole 15, Vinny chokes with a bogey, setting him back a stroke. Vinny was able to answer right back with a par on 16 while Dan suffered a bogey. With only 2 holes to go now, there is still a tie for the lead. Will is not far behind and waits for the slim chance of a choke by both leaders down the stretch. After 16 holes:

Strong performances by both Vinny and Dan on the 17th hole with a par, while Will and Victor suffer another bogey. At this point with only the 18th to go, Will and Victor are now out of the competition. It comes down to Vinny and Dan going into the dreaded 18th hole tied for 1st. Dan had the honors of going first. Instead of putting major pressure on Vinny with a booming drive, he shanks to the right and lands on in an extremely tough spot. All Vinny had to do now is land a solid drive off of the tee, but instead hyzers way too far to the left and ends up in the woods. They both followed up bad drives with bad layups. Now they have par shots from 60 feet away. Dan plays it safe and lays up right underneath the basket, giving Vinny the chance for the win. Instead, Vinny plays the conservative role and gets close as well, forcing the game to overtime. After 18 holes:

Will Parson had the opportunity to choose the sudden death hole, and decided to pick hole 7... the same hole that Vinny lost his groove and suffered a bogey. It became clear that Will and Victor were intending on weakening the arsenal of Vinny and Dan some more. The coin toss went to Vinny and he chose to go first, trying for the pressure bomb on Dan. The plan backfires as Vinny launches way right into the woods, leaving himself about 150 feet from the hole. Now Dan has the chance to end this with a solid play around the pond. Dan gets aggressive and goes right for the basket, but the disc dies off midway through, hooks left, and dives into the pond. Dan had the hopes of finding the disc and playing right where it lies, but later preferred to take a 1 stroke penalty and a loss of his Star TL after discovering a water moccasin a few feet from his legs. Vinny, now with a break, lays up with the intention on 2 putting and forcing another playoff hole. That's exactly what happened after both combatants bogeyed. The next hole of choice belonged to Victor, and he chose another water hole in hole 2.

The coin toss was won by Dan, and he chose Vinny to go first. This time, Vinny was able to apply pressure after a beautiful tee shot that landed about 35 feet from the basket. Now it's up to Dan to keep pace. He launches a powerful shot, but the disc hooks hard left and into the drink. Luck was on his side as the disc was floating on top of the water about 25 feet from land. Dan dresses down to shorts and goes in to rescue his disc. He gets to it, turns around, and launches his second shot while keeping his head above water. The shot lands about 45 feet away. Now Vinny can win with a birdie putt. Instead, he pays it conservative, misses his birdie putt, but pars easily. Now Dan is forced to make a difficult shot for par to force a third playoff hole. Dan winds up.... launches.... the disc is heading right for the basket... but sails right over top.

Vinny wins the playoff round after a fierce battle on a fine Saturday morning. For the championship round, he now gets to choose a place where he would be able to have a slight advantage on his competition.

Vinny Piperato has finished the regular season in 1st place and has selected Youth Park as the battlefield. 10 will enter, but only 6 will advance to the semi-final round. Who will advance? Here are your combatants:

#1 Vinny Piperato – Defending Champion. He heads into the postseason looking to repeat as champion. So far, Vinny is a favorite to be seen playing for the title in the championship round. He has been stumbling on his throwing accuracy lately... something he will need to nail down before getting too far into the playoffs and falling short.

#2 Dan Harvey – He has become a threat as of late now that his throwing accuracy is getting back to the way it was towards the end of last season. He is another favorite to be seen playing for the title. Dan came extremely close to taking the championship last year when he battled back to tie with Vinny, but lost in sudden death. He looks to change the outcome this year.

#3 Will Parson – He brings a graceful game comprised of accuracy and a disc arsenal that is capable of winning championships. If there was an award for most improved player, Will would be the undisputed winner. He has won the last 2 events and has great momentum heading into the playoffs. He is another favorite to be seen playing for the title.

#4 Chris Meyer – He is very capable of moving into the next round, but has been recently hit with a injury that will have him side-lined for a while. Chris is an animal that loves pain, but he is listed as "doubtful" and will most likely be eliminated. Get well Chris.

#5 Victor Millar– He is getting better and better after the purchase of a new and improved disc arsenal. Victor is not listed as a favorite, but could easily prove otherwise with a strong showing at his home course. He hasn't played in a while, but that shouldn't stop him from advancing to the semi-final round.

#6 Chris Sikes – A big question next to this name. Will be able to post a score in time? Which Chris will show up... the Chris that finished the front 9 at USF with a +1 or the Chris that has been struggling in his recent rounds of play? Can he pull it together and move into the next round?

#7 Greg Baker-Fitzgerald – He is a strong player and is considered the 4th and final favorite to be seen playing in the championship round. There is only one problem... Greg has only showed up to club outings on opening day back in April. Will he be able to make it to Youth Park this week or is his busy schedule going to get the best of him? Vinny will be hoping he doesn't show up since Greg has the potential to take the crown.

#8 Joe Mangrum – He hasn't been around lately. All he has to do is show up and compete at Youth Park this week and his skill should take him into the next round. Let's see if he makes it to the course.

#9 Brandon Smith – He hasn't been around either. Hopefully Brandon makes it to the course.

#10 Greg Cook – He has picked up on the game fast and can get into the semi-final round with a decent showing at Youth Park. Greg should be able to make it to the course this weekend.

3 months remain and there are far too many rounds to play. Nobody has reached the half way point on rounds as we now approach the half point mark in the regular season. Playing rounds and recording decent scores will be the only way to play for the title. It's time for July and August to be where a major push is made on multiple rounds during the week. Once complete, September will be the month where the playoff picture begins to come into focus and the remaining members are battling for the final positions. Let's get it on !!!

The first month of play is complete and 9 out of the 15 members have posted a score. Here is where we stand:

#1 Vinny Piperato (194 pts) – Still sitting pretty with 3 wins, but a bad round at Limona just opened the door for those individuals that are wanting to steal the top spot. Vinny hopes that the round from yesterday isn’t the start of a slump. He will be back in June with a beefed up arsenal in order to prevent a major slide.

#2 Chris Meyer (142 pts) – Leap frogs over Victor after a tie for 1st at Limona. Chris still has the same degraded disc arsenal as last year, but it’s perfectly clear now that it does not matter. He is on the verge of moving up a skill level after another stellar performance.

#3 Victor Millar (138 pts) – No movement on points since the last time, but that won’t stop Victor from holding down a top 3 spot. His throws are becoming more accurate as the season plays on, making him a deadlier force to reckon with. Where will he be sitting in a few months when it’s playoff time?

#4 Dan Harvey (130 pts) – No movement on points. Dan will return in May and attempt to climb up the leaderboard. He’s been sliding on his throws recently, but looks to put an end to it with a solid performance at the next event.

#5 Greg Baker-Fitzgerald (92 pts) – No movement on points. He has been busy the past few weeks, but looks to get back out to the course in May to keep up with the rest of the club. There is no word on whether or not he has improved his arsenal, but he has been practicing. Expect another solid performance when he gets the time to show up.

#6 Brandon Smith (90 pts) – He ties for 1st in his first event, but finishes last in the second. Brandon has the capability to recover after a bad performance and apply the pressure once more. As of right now, the ding was only minor and he remains in a playoff spot.

#7 Joe Mangrum (88 pts) – He is still asking himself why did he not make his score at USF count. Joe is not in a bad spot right now and will be seen in a playoff spot if his average performances continue, but he is looking to climb back up to where he was sitting last year… in a top 3 spot.

#8 Will Parson (50 pts) – 1 round recorded… 1 win. He is now the only member that remains perfect. Will has to get out to a few more events with the same intensity, then he will be seen back at the upper tier of players. He does need to be careful though. 1 more stellar performance like yesterday will move him up a skill level.

#9 Greg Cook (46 pts) - A third place finish in his very first disc golf event at a tough course. Not bad for the club’s newest member. He looks like he will be able to challenge for the crown in his rookie year. Knowing Greg, he will be practicing on his throwing accuracy in a large field full of cows, ensuring that he has the capability to keep up with or surpass the more experienced players. Can he keep up the momentum in May?

#10 Scott Artal (0 pts) – He hasn’t been out to an event yet, but his time is coming very soon. Where will he be sitting come June?

Greg Cook is the newest addition to the Tampa Disc Slingers. The Tampa Disc Slingers’ first release of current rankings for club’s first season. There are still many individuals that need to post a score. The next rankings release at the end of the month should produce a dramatic change to the leader board:

#1 Vinny Piperato (150 pts) – He picks up right where he left off last season… on top of the leader board. In 3 events, Vinny has taken first place points for all 3. The only problem with that is the fact that there are still many talented members that need to take on the same events. Vinny will be keeping his fingers crossed as he hopes that his top scores hold up against the onslaught of talent.

#2 Victor Millar (138 pts) – No one expected this. After a huge upgrade to his disc arsenal, Victor showed up to USF and ended up in a 3-way tie for 1st place. With other good scores from Youth Park, he has earned his spot at a career best #2 rank. Can he keep the train moving into the playoffs and become a favorite to win it all?

#3 Dan Harvey (130 pts) – He captures an early spot on the podium even after a sub-par performance during his first event at Youth Park. Dan has been showing improvement over the past 2 events by getting his game back on track. He will need to keep up the intensity if he wants to be hanging around these top spots for a while.

#4 Chris Meyer (92 pts) – He shows up with the same degraded disc arsenal as last year, but that didn’t seem to hinder his play at all. He was able to capture a 2nd and 4th place during his 2 events. Just imagine how big of a threat he could be if there were a few more weapons at his disposal.

#4 Greg Baker-Fitzgerald (92 pts) – As promised, he makes his Tampa Disc Slinger debut with authority. After 2 events, he also scores a 2nd and 4th place finish, putting him in a tie for the #4 spot. Greg is also a member with a depleted arsenal. People would have every right to be nervous if Greg decided to show up with better discs.

#6 Brandon Smith (50 pts) – Only 1 event recorded so far, but he makes it count as he scores a tie for 1st place. As predicted, Brandon comes out early in the season and makes a statement. The challenge will be if he can keep up this great forward momentum and carry himself all the way into the post season, or will he come up short yet again? Let’s see if he can prove the field wrong by capturing another 1st place finish.

#7 Joe Mangrum (46 pts) – If only he made his score at USF actually count for the record. That is what Joe is telling himself right now as he would have taken sole possession of 1st place for the first event at USF, which would have moved him into the #4 spot. At least he now knows that he can compete even with a sore back, so expect him to be playing for points very soon.

#8 Scott Artal (0 pts) – He hasn’t been out to an event yet, but his time is coming very soon. Where will he be sitting come June?

Greg Baker-Fitzgerald has joined the ranks, giving the club a new level of competition. He comes from a group of individuals that have played often on the Pinellas side of the bay. Rumor has it that he won convincingly almost every time he faced his opponents. Soon we will see what he brings to the table.

Adam Wojdakowski rejoins the club and prepares for the season. He is another person that is capable of competing for the title. Look for him to make a statement early once he sets foot on the course.

Adding these 2 members will raise the bar for the rest of the pack. Everyone will have to step it up a notch if they want to seen playing in October.

The Tampa Disc Slingers’ first season is now officially open for business. The competition is fired up and already have their minds set on playing in October for the championship. Failure is not an option. Here is the breakdown of the field:

#1 Vinny Piperato – Defending Champion. He returns with the same intensity and aggressive style. Vinny will attempt to clinch a playoff spot early in the season. This year, his competition will be a lot more challenging as new members join and current members improve. There is a lot of weight on his shoulder as he needs to prove that last year’s championship round was not a fluke.

#2 Dan Harvey – A man with a powerful arm and a powerful disc arsenal. He was able to discover his game towards the end of the season last year and hopes to carry that momentum over to the start of this season. Knowing Dan, he has been working on his weaknesses during the off season and will attempt to take the #1 spot early.

#3 Will Parson – He brings a graceful game comprised of accuracy and a disc arsenal that is capable of winning championships. Over the past few club events, Will has been able to keep his score down and under control. Can he continue the momentum and immediately apply pressure to the club’s elite?

#4 Joe Mangrum – The club’s best mid-range shooter. Joe has been able to hang around the top ranks just by having a great disc arsenal and a fantastic lay-up game. I’m sure that he has been working on making his putts and drives more consistent, which will end up making him a threat once more… just like he was early last year.

#5 Brandon Smith – Just misses the cut last year and was forced to participate in the championship as a spectator. He will not be looking to end up as a spectator this year. Brandon was on a roller coaster ride last year as he was able to capture trophies early, then began to fall off with a few bad games. He has been tweaking the game during the off season and looks to remedy last year’s derailment. Expect to see Brandon come out with a strong first half.

#6 Chris Sikes – He knows all about being one of the club’s elite members at one point in last year’s season, just to see himself struggle at the worst possible time and watch other members take the playoff spots right from beneath his feet. Chris will not be looking for a repeat of last year, but will have to sit for the month of April. He will probably get warmed up during the month of May and start capturing rank in June.

#7 Chris Meyer – The club’s best trick shooter. He knows about 20 different ways to throw a Frisbee and it shows when he’s out there on the course. Chris hasn’t had much exposure to the game yet, which seems to be the Achilles heel of his effort. After playing a few more rounds and beefing up the disc arsenal, he could easily become a threat.

#8 Victor Millar – The club’s strongest arm. He is looking for redemption as he will prove that he belongs with the elite members. Victor suffered last year by missing out on many opportunities to capture points and secure a playoff spot. He was able to take a silver in 2 tournaments last year, so who knows what might have happened if he was out there playing during every event. He will need to beef up the disc arsenal if he wants to compete with the best.

#9 Scott Artal – He has the disc arsenal to compete with the best. He possesses the strength to compete with the best. The only thing against him is a previous injury that has his throwing shoulder in need of some loosening up. With the proper motivation and dedication, Scott could easily shave a few strokes off of his average and compete for a spot in the playoffs. His start of the season is expected to be a little rough, but will he able to finish strong towards the end when it counts the most?

#10 Keith Sikes – He hasn’t been able to get out to the course as of late nor has he been exposed to the game that long. He does, however, possess a natural gift for lay-up shots and putting. In order for Keith to get into a playoff spot, he will need to beef up the arsenal and tweak the driving game that has been getting the best of him.

#11 Bryan Pieper – A new member that joins the ranks and gets prepared for the new season. Not much is known about Bryan at the moment except for one little tidbit of information… that he played in college and was rather good. His disc arsenal and ground game is currently unknown. The expectation is that he will immediately leapfrog into a top 8 position and hold on for dear life until October.

#12 Brian Smith – A new member that joins the ranks and gets prepared for the new season. Brian is new and fresh to the game, but hopes to get settled in quickly. Greg can only be introduced by his legend from other disc golfers... he is an immediate threat that can compete for the top spot in the club. Nothing is known about his disc arsenal, but his skill is said to be either on par or better than the club's defending champ. Members will need to keep their eyes on Greg once he makes his debut sometime soon.

#15 Adam Wojdakowski - A former Disc Slinger that has decided to rejoin the ranks and compete for the title. Adam has played before and states that he possesses the capability to compete with the club's elites. Rumor is that his disc arsenal is weakened and will need to beef it up a little, but his throwing power and accuracy make him a potential favorite for a spot in the post-season.

Many members will be attacking early as they take on Youth Park this Saturday. Points will immediately be rewarded and ranks will immediately be established. We have approached the 10 day mark until the launch of the club's first season of play. The players will be doing battle on 4 different courses and take points for their hard earned play. Only the top 8 players will advance to the post season, where they will be seen playing for the right to be called a champion.

The players prepare for the long road ahead. Disc arsenals will be beefed up, throwing techniques will be tweaked, and practice rounds will commence. Some will try to capture points early while others will wait to attack. Players will be seen on top of the leaderboard, just to be ripped off of their pedestal later on. With the schedule as flexible as it is, we are in for a roller coaster of a ride and it won't stop until the season is at an end.

Playing disc golf on the tougher courses is an every day walk in the park for this man. Bryan was once known for his ability to deliver the smackdown on the course... but this was many moons ago when he attended college. Does he still possess this kind of intensity?

The final 4 are ready and pumped for the Tampa Disc Slingers' final event. The place of battle has been selected by 1st place finisher Vinny Piperato. He has made Youth Park the location where he will defend his title. The selection makes perfect sense as that is the only place where Vinny remains undefeated and averages a +3.33 per round. The hill to climb for his opponents will be a little steep when going up against statistics like that, but they are up for the challenge and are ready to lay it all out there as they attempt to make history. Here is the breakdown of the final 4:

#1 Vinny Piperato - The defending champion and looks to repeat the title. He will attempt to become the only champion that the Tampa Disc Slingers has ever known. Vinny has been practicing his short game on the beach of Daytona and has even replaced his lost champion groove with another champion groove, giving him the hammer lock on hyzer throws once more. Can he throw one more incredible round at Youth Park and take home the gold?

#2 Dan Harvey - He has been to the championship once before and will use that veteran experience to remain cool and poised during the final round. There is no word yet as to whether or not he has found a replacement for his lost Star TL. He can at least look forward to getting his DX Beast back at the start of the championship. Dan pushed Vinny to the limit twice now... both occasions were during the playoffs. He is 0-2 in overtime matches against the champ, but will look to make it count this time if it comes down to sudden death.

#3 Will Parson - A decent round last week with a +5. He will tweak his game play in the areas that went wrong and will come back with a solid showing. He was in the championship last year and fell short by 1 stroke. With 2 wins this year and solid game play last year, Will demonstrates the potential to threaten for the title. Does he fall short this year as well or does he become the club's second champion?

#4 Victor Millar - The dark horse to win the championship. He enters the final round with heavy competition to his left and right. Victor does have a few things going for him that makes him a contender... 1) Youth Park is his back yard and has the potential to practice there whenever he wants... 2) He finished the front 9 last week with a +2, which demonstrates that he at least has what it takes to hang... 3) He recently discovered the forehand shot and can throw nearly twice as far as his traditional backhand. If he can become familiar with the forehand and raise the accuracy, then his threat for the title dramatically increases.

The title is up for grabs with a competition so even in skill. Who emerges victorious and takes home the championship?

After a short recess, the Tampa Disc Slingers' Beta season has come to a close. The Championship was held at the infamous course of Limona on a beautiful afternoon day. The 4 finalists were present and ready for battle:

#1 Vinny Piperato

The championship started on a rough note when 6 bogeys were recorded after the first 2 holes. Will and Joe were able to capture an early 1 stroke lead due to the turmoil. Once the group arrived at hole 3, they got settled in and began putting away pars. The competition remained thick through the first few holes.

After 5 holes:

Vinny Piperato +2

The doors were blown open shortly after when 1 man remained solid with a birdie and 3 more pars, while the remaining 3 began to lose their grip on their stellar performances. Holes 6-9 played host to a combined 6 bogeys and 2 double-bogeys. After the front 9 holes, the club's finest began to seperate from one another.

After 9 holes:

Vinny was able to keep the pressure in the early stages of the back 9 with 4 more pars. Feeling the urgency to keep up with the leader, the rest of the members were able to hang on and take the championship down to the final few holes.

With only 3 holes to go, the game now seems out of reach as Vinny maintains a 3 stroke lead over the pack. At this point, did anyone believe that they had a shot at climbing back into the competition? Hole 16 and 17 gives everyone problems as 6 more bogeys and 2 pars were recorded. Vinny bogeys on both holes and prodcues a glimmer of hope in the eyes of the competition.

After 17 holes:

With only 1 hole left and a 2-stroke lead, Vinny feels confident taking home the crown... until his tee shot is launched into the woods. The others produce good tee shots, giving them a fighting chance at the cost of Vinny's mistake. Vinny tries to rebound with a beautiful shot out of the woods, but a branch snags it out of the air and keeps the disc near the entrance to the woods. During this time, Dan and Will are playing solid by getting near the basket in 2 shots. Joe, unfortunately, is unable to capitalize and produces problems of his own. Joe wraps up with a double bogey on 18 and is unable to capture the crown. Vinny, now trying to par from 120 feet away, is finally able to produce a good shot and gets within 20 feet from the basket. Dan wraps up with a par. Will gets a bogey, knocking him out of running. Now it is up to Vinny. All he needs to do is sink a 20-foot shot. He shoots, and falls short of the basket. Vinny double-bogeys the 18th and is forced into a playoff with Dan for the Championship crown.

After regulation 18 holes:

A coin flip determined who will get to choose the hole to play for this 1-hole playoff. Dan won the toss and chose hole 14, a hole that both both inviduals were able to par. Vinny took the first tee shot, which hit the perfect angle around the tree line. He landed less than 40 feet from the basket. Now it's up to Dan to keep pace. He shoots, and it bears right toward the brush pile, 100 feet from the basket. Dan takes his second shot, which lands about 30 feet to right of the basket. Vinny takes his second shot, and it lands right underneath the basket. With a par secured by Vinny, it is now up to Dan to sink a tough shot to force anoter playoff hole. He shoots, it heads straight for the basket... and the shot is over the top and past the basket. Vinny "the chin" Piperato takes home the crown and the club's #1 rank.

There are questions still needing to be answered about the future of the Tampa Disc Slingers. Will there be another season that the club will host? Will Vinny be able to defend his title on a larger scale of competition? Will the club collapse, or will it rebuild and become stronger? Only time will provide these questions for us. There is a group of competitors, the UCF Disc Knights, that await our answers.

#1 Vinny Piperato (77 pts) – The favorite to win it all after securing 9 trophies in 12 events during the season, to inlcude 7 wins. He will be playing against some good competition during the Championship. In a recent turn of events, Vinny has changed the course to a place where he has never lost an event; a place that certain dread playing at... LIMONA!

#2 Dan Harvey (46 pts)- The most improved member of the club that has the potential to become something great. After a brief absence earlier in the season, Dan came back roaring by placing in 7 out of 12 events, including 1 win. He has also beefed up his disc bag with 3 additional distance drivers, giving him the award for the club's best arsenal. He is a slight underdog in the championship, but don't let those numbers fool you. Dan will looking to add to the streak of great games with a championship crown.

#3 Will Parson (44 pts) – A member that has won against solid competition before and could do it again if he pulls through in the clutch. He has placed in 5 of 12 events, including 2 wins. Will faces an uphill battle after suffering key losses to some of his discs, forcing him to face the club's best with a depleted arsenal. One thing that he has on his side is that his game has been able to produce solid numbers with practically nothing to work with, making him a threat no matter what. He is an underdog by a few strokes, but then again he was an underdog at the tournaments where he won gold.

#4 Joe Mangrum (44 pts)- Another member that is no stranger to taking down his competition in club events. He has placed in 5 of 12 events, including 2 wins. Joe will be an underdog by a couple of strokes. With his last few games being all over the scorecard, no one can be certain as to which Joe we will see during the Championship. Everyone knows that he can win if the same Joe that won 2 tournaments in the regular season decides to show up during the greatest event of the season. Which Joe will show?

#1 Vinny Piperato (77 pts) – Clinched a spot in the Championship. Clinched the #1 Position. 74 guaranteed points thus far. With the top spot secure, Vinny chooses Tocobaga for the location of the championship battle. He is the club's record holder for Limona, USF, and Buckhorn.

#2 Dan Harvey (46 pts)- Clinched a spot in the Championship. 39 guaranteed points thus far. After a second place finish in the final tournament, he has accrued enough points to secure a spot in the championship. Dan can sit back and improve his game for the next few weeks.

We approach the final week of the regular season. These next 7 days will be jammed packed with makeup rounds at Limona and Buckhorn as well as the last regular season tournament on Saturday. As we come around the home stretch, only a few points separate the pack. What happens this week will determine who plays in November and who packs it up and prepares for next season.


#1 Vinny Piperato (77 pts) – Clinched a spot in the Championship. Clinched the #1 Position. He has accumulated 68 guaranteed points; a score that no one can catch this season. He will not be playing in TDS Tournament 3. With the top spot secure, Vinny gets to choose where the championship is played at. Sources are saying that he will not choose a course that the club has played at during the season. He is the club's record holder for Limona, USF, and Buckhorn.

#2 Dan Harvey (39 pts)- After another trophy on his last makeup round, he has finally earned enough points to take the second best spot. He sits with 27 guaranteed points. Many scenarios can happen that would allow Dan to play in the championship. The easiest way is for him to win the last tournament. He is 1 of the remaining 3 that controls their own destiny.

#3 Will Parson (37 pts)- Even with 10 points stolen from him last week, Will bounces back and captures a bronze on his last USF tournament makeup. He now sits pretty with 34 guaranteed points, which is currently the second highest. The only thing he needs to do in order to secure a playoff spot is medal in both of his last 2 tournaments. Will is 1 of the remaining 3 that controls their own destiny.

#4 Joe Mangrum (34 pts) – He gets knocked back a little from a makeup round this week, but not enough to send him into turmoil. He sits with 25 guaranteed points. Joe is currently the member with the most points at stake due to a few makeup rounds still in play. He is going to have to finish in the top 2 for TDS Tournament 3, and then hope that Chris Sikes, Chris Meyer, and Brandon Smith all shoot blanks on their opportunities to capture points. Joe is looking at 2 major obstacles on the road to the championship. The first obstacle is for Chris Sikes to shoot worse than +14 in Disc Slinger Doubles 1.

#5 Brandon Smith (31 pts)- He was in a playoff spot for a week at the #3 position. After losing 2 points to a makeup round and others jumping ahead, Brandon sees himself knocked out of a top 4 position. To make matters worse, he only has 24 of his points guaranteed. He is going to have to hope that Chris Sikes fails to knock him out of Disc Slinger Doubles 1, and then respond with a win at TDS Tournament 3. It also wouldn’t hurt if his competition fails on stealing anymore of his points.

#6 Chris Sikes (24 pts) – He can see the doors closing on his opportunity of playing in November. He must capture a medal in Disc Slinger Doubles 1, and then play like a champ in TDS Tournament 3. Failing to convert points in any of these tournaments will spell elimination. 22 out of his 24 points are guaranteed, so at least he doesn’t need to worry about someone knocking him out of the competition. Can he pull through in the clutch and make the improbable happen?

#7 Chris Meyer (22 pts)- Little will be known about the conclusion of his season until he returns in early November. All 22 of his points are guaranteed and he still has to post scores for 3 tournaments. Chris is the only person left in the club that could end up being a one-man wrecking crew if he comes back and steals points in all 3 tournaments. Only time will tell. He is 1 of the remaining 3 that controls their own destiny.

#8 Victor Millar (8 pts)- It seems that he has thrown in the towel by not showing up for any of his makeup rounds at USF. Mathematically, he still has a chance to take points and play in November. Realistically, it’s only a matter of time before he’s eliminated.

#9 Scott Artal (4 pts)- Eliminated from the championship. He only has 2 tournaments left to take points, which will not be enough. Be careful with this guy next season when the group handicaps are in place.

#10 Keith Sikes (3 pts)- Eliminated from the championship. He does not have enough tournaments left to accumulate the points needed for a top 4 spot. He has not confirmed on whether or not he will be playing next year.

#11 Matt Massuto (1 pt)- Eliminated from the championship. He was unable to make up any of his 4 rounds for USF. He has thrown in the towel for the Beta Season. Maybe we will see him compete in Season 1? He hasn’t confirmed yet.

#1 Vinny Piperato (10 pts) - He posted a +12 at Weekly Informal 5, which was good enough to win. The only problem is that there are 3 members that need to post scores for that tournament... and all 3 are capable of delivering a score much better. Vinny, you will most likely be seen with 1 less tournament win by the end of the week.

#2 Will Parson (10 pts) - He holds the 3rd place trophies for both Weekly Informal 5 with a +14, and Disc Slinger Doubles 1 with a +16. These scores have a 99.9% chance of falling out of the top 3 due to the powerful members that still need to make up those rounds. If Will is sent back 10 points, he is going to have to post a decent score in his remaining tournaments if he wants to play in November.

#3 Joe Mangrum (7 pts) - Another member that holds an OK 2nd place score in Disc Slinger Doubles 1 with a +15. There are too many good members that need to make up that tournament. Even with a 7 point set back, Joe will still be able to make it to the championship with a win at TDS Tournament 3.

#4 Chris Sikes (14 pts) - This will be an absolute nightmare if he loses both silvers from Weekly Informal 5 and Weekly Informal 8. The reality is that these points can be taken away, which will cripple his chances of going to the championship... unless he posts ridiculous scores for the 2 tournaments he has left.

#5 Brandon Smith (7 pts) - He posted a decent score of -1 at Weekly Informal 8. There's still good players making up that tournament, and possess that skill of taking that silver away. With only 2 tournaments left and still 5 points away from the top 4, he does not need someone stealing points from him right now.

#1 Vinny Piperato (80 pts) - Has not mathematically clinched, but now sits with 20 guaranteed points. He will have to sit for another week and wait for the outcome of the Limona makeup rounds. He is the club's record holder for Limona, USF, and Buckhorn.

#2 Will Parson (39.5 pts)- With the help of other members knocking Chris Sikes backwards, Will reclaims the #2 spot. He came up short on 1 of his makeup rounds this week, but still has the opportunity to make up Weekly Informal 8 and TDS Tournament 1. These are tournaments that he can place in and rack up some points. Can he keep it together and maintain his place in the top 4?

#3 Joe Mangrum (35 pts) – Even though he’s been knocked backwards from makeup rounds, Joe was able to earn enough points early to keep himself in the top 4. Now with only 2 tournaments left for him to earn points, he is going to have to sit back and hope that the others don’t steal more points in makeup rounds

#5 Brandon Smith (24 pts)- No movement was made by him this week. With members posting top 3 scores in makeup rounds and knocking the top 4 down on points, Brandon can see himself inching closer to the #4 spot. After missing an opportunity to take points in 1 of his makeup rounds this week, he is going to have to get serious and place somewhere in the 2 tournaments he has left. Let’s see what he can do next week at Limona.

#6 Chris Meyer (23.25 pts)- As expected, he is now within striking distance for a top 4 spot and the chance to play in November. In his 5 tournament rounds, Chris has earned trophies in 4 of them. He still has 5 tournaments that he needs to make up, which gives Chris the best shot at climbing the ranks and solidifying a spot in the championship.
The question is… will we see Chris next week at Limona?

#7 Dan Harvey (19.75 pts)- This man of endurance made up 3 rounds on Friday and captured 12.75 points. Not bad for a days work. Now with only 3 tournaments to make up, Dan can see light and victory at the end of the tunnel. Can he keep up this momentum and post another successful day of point stealing?

#8 Victor Millar (7.75 pts)- He made up 2 rounds and came away with 7.5 points. He is now back in the game. Victor has the potential to post a deadly score at any time, so the eyes are now on this man. If Victor manages to show up at Limona and post his makeup rounds there, expect more chaos in the rankings. With time running out, he is almost obligated to show if he wants to play in November.

All it takes is a few weeks of tournament makeup rounds and TDS Tournamet 2 to produce massive shifts in the ranks. With plenty of makeup rounds and 1 more tournament still to come, nobody has clinched a spot in the November championship.

#1 Vinny Piperato (85 pts) - Even though he has not mathematically clinched a playoff spot, Vinny will most likely be seen playing in November. With 7 wins and 2 bronzes, he looks to secure himself as the club's top member for the beta season. With no rounds to makeup, he will have to sit back and wait for the makeup rounds to complete. Vinny is the club's record holder for Limona, USF, and Buckhorn.

#2 Chris Sikes (39.5 pts) - He leap frogs over Will and Joe to take hold of the club's second best position after a stellar performance in TDS Tournament 2. He has 3 silvers and 3 bronzes, and looks to capture more as he takes on a Disc Slinger Doubles 1 makeup round. In a few more weeks, Chris will know if he has done enough to secure a playoff spot. So far, things are looking good.

#3 Will Parson (39 pts)- He maintains his ranking after coming up short in the latest tournament. He has the potential to solidify a playoff spot, but needs to show up on the tournament makeup rounds that he has the opportunity to complete. Will needs to complete Weekly Informal 6, Weekly Informal 8, and TDS Tournament 1. These are all rounds that he has the potential to place in. Can Will get his game face on and fight for a chance to take home the crown?

#4 Joe Mangrum (34.5 pts) - He has been plagued by makeup rounds. He was once the club's number 2 member, and people knew that because he played like it. Joe is currently in a slump and has no choice but to sit back and hope that no more of his trophies get busted up by makeup rounds. Even with turmoil at the worst possible time, he still has a chance at representing the number 4 spot in the championship. With no make up rounds to complete, Joe will be able to use this time to get in sync and capture a trophy in the last regular season tournament.

#5 Brandon Smith (23.75 pts)- A member that has a decent chance at taking one of the top 4 spots and heading into the championship round. He has a lot of ground to make up, and only 3 tournaments to do it. Brandon needs to place somewhere in Disc Slinger Doubles 1, Weekly Informal 6, or TDS Tournament 3. Of course, he can always hope that more trophies are taken from Joe.

#6 Chris Meyer (18 pts)- He has the best chance at climbing the ranks and play for the crown in November. His game is solid and he has plenty of chances to rack up points in makeup rounds. Chris still has opportunities in Weekly Informal 2, Weekly Informal 3, Weekly Informal 5, Disc Slinger Doubles 1, Weekly Informal 6, and Weekly Informal 8. This will be the guy that can ruin the day for the current top 4 members. The only element against Chris now is time. Can he make up these rounds before the deadline?

#7 Dan Harvey (7 pts)- Even though it seems too far out of reach, he still has a chance of making it into the championship round. What's going for him is that he has 6 tournaments to make up and he has the endurance to knock out more than one in a day.

This week was full of surprises. That’s the nature of the beast when it comes to sports competition. There’s 2 more weeks of makeup rounds and the last regular season tournament left. As the playoff picture starts to form, there’s still a lot of questions that need answering. Maybe we will find the answer next week.

#1 Vinny Piperato (77 pts) – With 53 guaranteed points already, he is the first member to clinch a spot in the championship. There is a possibility that Vinny could lose a few more points, but not enough to send him back into 5th place when the season ends. He will not be playing in TDS Tournament 3. Instead, he will sit back and hope that his effort thus far is good enough to retain the club’s #1 spot. He is the club's record holder for Limona, USF, and Buckhorn.

#2 Joe Mangrum (35.25 pts) – He dodged a few bullet and his points remain intact for another week. He has 24 points guaranteed, which is the second highest. There’s still a few individuals that will attempt to steal points in the next few weeks. Even with that fear, Joe is still in a decent position to place in the last tournament and earn himself a spot in the championship. He does not have any makeup rounds, so his points will have to hold for now.

#3 Brandon Smith (31.5 pts)- This position could be short-lived, but for now, he jumps up the ranks and takes a hold of a top 4 position. After a second place finish on a makeup round and knocking people backwards on points, Brandon now sees himself in a position to secure a championship spot. He sits with 22 guaranteed points and looks to take more in the last regular season tournament. He has no more makeup rounds, so these points are going to have to hold for as long as they can.

#4 Dan Harvey (30 pts)- He makes up another round and steals a win from Vinny. With his first gold secured, he rockets up 3 positions to take hold of the club’s final top 4 spot. Out of his 30 points, 20 of them are guaranteed. Dan is definitely improving his game rapidly and looks to clinch a spot in championship round within the next 2 weeks. He still has 2 rounds to make up… and he’s capable of taking points in both. Dan’s game is coming together at the right time, and Vinny can feel the pressure.

#5 Will Parson (29.5 pts)- As predicted, he loses both of his 3rd place finishes to the makeup round nightmare. Will is still in the hunt with 22 points guaranteed and the opportunity to make up 2 tournaments. Now with the pressure of being out of a top 4 spot for the first since April, he needs to focus and get some points from the tournaments he has left. Maybe we will see him with a new arsenal of discs?

#6 Chris Sikes (27.5 pts) – Condolences go out to the man that was sitting at the #2 spot just 2 weeks ago. Now on life support with only 5 guaranteed points, Chris has to find a way to score points on his remaining 2 tournament. We all know that he can take points on Disc Slinger Doubles 1, but can he pull through in the clutch and place in the season’s final tournament? If he wants to play in November, he will play like a champ during these last 2 weeks.

#7 Chris Meyer (24.5 pts)- Probably the most surprising story. He moves backwards in the rankings after missing the opportunity to place in any of the 3 makeup rounds that he posted this week. Now he has to hope that he can post phenomenal scores in the final 2 makeup rounds as well as take one of the trophies in the final tournament. Stranger things has happened lately. Will he be able to pull it together before the beta season closes the doors on him?

#8 Victor Millar (7.75 pts)- MEDIC!!!! After a promising performance last week, he fails to get to the course this week. The only thing on his side is that Vinny failed to get all of the rounds done for Buckhorn and Limona, giving him the chance to post a round. He only has 2 weeks left to get as many rounds done as he can.

#9 Scott Artal (2.5 pts)- Eliminated from the championship. He only has 2 tournaments left to take points, which will not be enough. Be careful with this guy next season when the group handicaps are in place.

On Friday afternoon, the club ran into other players at the 9th hole of USF Riverfront Park. The topic of discussion was TDS Tournament 2 which is set to launch on Saturday. In other words, our club and tournaments are being noticed by other disc golfers. A few things need to mentioned:

- These events are for club members ONLY
- If you wish to become a member, send an email to [email redacted] or post a note in the talk section of this club.
- Once contact is initiated, we will set something up with you... most likely an informal round with us so we can get to know you and make a determination.
- If a member joins now, they will be ineligible for tournament play this year. Your journey would begin next season in January. This, of course, does not mean you can't come out and shoot with us when we are playing informal practice rounds during the week.

No one will be able to just show up on the day of the tournament and expect to play. We are recruiting for next season, so there is still plenty of time to get in touch with us. Hope to hear from you soon.

After months of membership and not showing up to events, Lashaye and Adam were released today. The Tampa Disc Slingers are now 12 members strong. - Is this person in good spirits and would be considered a good fit for the club?
- Can the person attend a club event once every 4 weeks?
- Is the person catergorized as a C-D tier (+7 - +20 average) disc golfer?

In most sports a season comes to an end and everyone prepares for a fresh, new season with records and scores back to ground zero. Suggestions were made to change a multitude of things to include:
- Scoring
- Ranking System
- "Season" Ideology

A push has been made to satisfy these requirements in a fair and interesting manner. It has been decided that the scoring and ranking system will be reset to zero at the end of the year. In order to do that, this year has been designated as Season 0 or the Beta year. The season will conclude in November. Here is a general breakdown of the remaining season:
- TDS Tournament 2 @ USF
- TDS Tournament 3 @ Limona
- TDS Season 0 Championship @ Lutz Executive
- At the end of season, the top 4 ranked members advance to the championship round
- Make-up rounds are still in effect and is considered the key to move up in rank
- A champion is crowned and defends his title going into the real season... Season 1

A new rule was established within the club that would allow members who met certain criteria to post scores for completed tournaments. This would result in fairness to the individuals who would like to get the opportunity to move up in the rankings. A huge splash was finally made when eligible members were able to challenge the top 3 scores from Weekly Informal 5 held at Limona. As you may know, our top 3 scores were:

Vinny Piperato +12
Will Parson +14
Joe Mangrum +16

Keith Sikes, Brandon Smith, and Chris Sikes were present to post a score and possibly capture points. They were accompanied by veterans Will Parson and Joe Mangrum who already had top 3 finishes and were hoping to keep it that way. Vinny Piperato, the Weekly Informal 5 champion, was at home hoping that his gold trophy would remain in tact as these 3 hopefuls took on the course this afternoon.

The front 9 seemed to cause a moderate amount of problems, but the Disc Slingers were able to keep their composure and escape with minor wounds. Some signature moments to point out was Joe Mangrum's birdie on the 5th and the fact that Chris Sikes managed to par 5 out of 9 holes, proving to be one his best performances. Will and Brandon were not far behind either.

The back 9 is where turmoil set in as the holes became longer and more unrealistic. There was only one man able to record a better score on the back 9 and that was Will. No birdies were made. When it was all said and done, damage was made to the top 3 when Chris Sikes played a great game and posted a +13. Now the top 3 scores look something like this:

There are still eligible members that can post a score for Weekly Informal 5 and stir the pot some more.

Since his initial arsenal upgrade back in April, he has managed to move from a +21 average to a +15 average. His score will only get better and he's made sure of that by drafting 3 more discs:

With the next tournament more than 3 weeks away, Chris will have plenty of time to establish a role for each of his new discs. There is a possibility of him being able to make a title run if they prove to be missing pieces to a complicated puzzle.

USF Riverfront was the battleground where 6 competitors were present to take on Vinny Piperato, the Tampa Disc Slingers' defending champion. While some were pursuing their first title, others were attempting to seize a golden opportunity and move up into the top 3. Vinny had little time to practice with his new Monarch driver and the last time he played at USF was back in early June. With challenges ahead, the tournament began at 4:00 when Vinny threw the opening disc.

The front 9 plagued most of the competition, which was unexpected. Problems on holes 5 and 8 is what began to separate the pack and develop a distinguished top 3. There were only 3 birdies which were made by Vinny Piperato, Chris Sikes, and Dan Harvey. There were a few incredible tee shots made by Dan Harvey, Chris Sikes, Chris Meyer, and Vinny Piperato. When you see the results from the front 9, see if you can find anything odd:

The back 9 continued to pummel the club as the narrow paths throughout the woods seemed even smaller. There were no birdies, but many bogeys and double bogeys. There were a few good shots worthy of the ESPN top 10 that were made by Joe Mangrum, Vinny Piperato, and Chris Meyer. No one was able to catch up to the champ as he was able to finish the course with a new club record. When you see the final scores, see if you can find what is really odd:

The start of the new Tampa Disc Slingers tournament series is right around the corner. With half of the club confirmed and other with the possibilty of playing, this will be the largest tournament hosted by the club so far. The playing field seems to be level and many are hungry for a victory. The club’s top 5 will be present for battle. Here is the breakdown of the field:

#1 Vinny Piperato - The current champion. Everyone will be after him this weekend. With the tournament being held at USF Riverfront, he recently added a distance driver to his arsenal in an attempt to provide an answer to the anhyzer throws. With the lack of knowledge about the new disc and the fact that he hasn't played at USF in 7 weeks might prove too much for Vinny to overcome.

#2 Joe Mangrum - The winner of Weekly Informal 7 which was held at USF Riverfront. He has the course's second best score at +7. He also has the most experience of USF with more rounds played than any other member. This course is no stranger to Joe. No adjustments have been made to his form, throw, or disc arsenal, so his performance should be solid.

#3 Will Parson - The winner of Weekly Informal 3 which was also held at USF Riverfront. His last performance at this course was 7 weeks ago when he finished 2nd at Weekly Informal 7. It's evident that he brings a solid game to this course and will look for another score worthy enough of gold.

#4 Chris Sikes - He has multiple top 3 finishes when it comes to tournaments at USF. One thing to look for will be his side-arm throw that he is attempting to perfect. It will be able to provide answers to anhyzer and long distance throws. With no tournament wins under his belt, Chris will be hungry for his first title.

#5 Brandon Smith – One of the newer club members. In his debut, he pulled in front of many veterans and finished second at Weekly Informal 8. He also has one of the best disc arsenals, which makes him an individual to be mindful of when he is on the course. USF is a relatively new course for Brandon, so it will be interesting to see if he can settle in a make a run for the trophy.

#8 Chris Meyer - This will be his first tournament appearance and only the second time ever playing. He brings raw talent to the playing field and will be the sleeper pick to watch. Chris birdied on the 4th hole that he had ever played on with generic DX plastic discs. There is also a rumor that he will be purchasing an arsenal of discs and will have them for tournament day, making him an even deadlier force.

#14 Dan Harvey – The newest member of the Tampa Disc Slingers. He has played the sport twice, but plans on showing up on tournament day and leaving his mark on the competition. He has made positive strides in his throwing technique and strength. Not much is known about his disc arsenal and what he plans on bringing to the table, so keep an eye out for this guy.

That void was finally filled Monday when he drafted the Champion Monarch. The Monarch was made for high speed turn and should be the perfect fit for team Piperato.

When new people join the club, does it seem fair if they start at the bottom of the power rankings and never get the opportunity to rise to the top? The primary way to move up in the ranks is by attending tournaments and placing in the top 3. If you miss a tournament because of vacations, life issues, job, or being a new member, you have missed the chance to take points and gain rank.

A new rule has been set which will allow members to post scores for previous tournaments. There are a few conditions such as a time limit to post scores as well as having to play a round at the course in which the tournament was held. This will definately make things interesting. Expect massive changes to the rank structure once the make-up rounds commence.

The first opportunity will be this Friday when the Tampa Disc Slingers head to Buckhorn. The members who failed to attend Weekly Informal 8 will get their shot at gold.

A new member has joined the ranks and is already preparing for the upcoming tournament in 2 weeks. He has added the following discs to his arsenal:

Friday afternoon was a beautiful opportunity to make up tournament rounds. The club had 6 different members posting scores for 3 different tournaments. After 3 hours of combat at USF Riverfront Park, the results changed the trophy positions for the first 2 Weekly Informal tournaments. Vinny Piperato, Dan Harvey, Brandon Smith, Will Parson, Chris Meyer, and Joe Mangrum had adjustments made to their point total. Before Friday, the results looked like this:

A warm Sunday afternoon at Buckhorn played host to the 8th Tampa Disc Slingers singles tournament. Defending champion Joe Mangrum was present to take on 4 challengers hungry to win Buckhorn's first tournament and set the club's course record. Vinny Piperato and Chris Sikes were ready to tear the course apart along with newcomers Brandon Smith and Keith Sikes.

The front 9 holes didn't cause too many problems. Nobody was able to separate from the pack early and take advantage. There was solid play throughout the competition. After 9 holes:

The back 9 nine holes is where Vinny was able to keep the momentum going and slowly separate from the pack. The rest of the members played well and was able to keep their good games in tact. There were birdies on multiple holes. The only difference was the case of miscued tee shots that made the holes difficult to par. Final results:

New Records are in the books after the greatest battle in Tampa Disc Slinger history:
- Tied record for numbers of competitors
- First tournament to have a playoff
- 2 members played for the first time
- Everyone in the club has now been defeated

After the first 4 holes, Vinny lead the pack at even par with Joe and Chris M. at +1, followed by Will and Chris S. at +2. The remainder of the front 9 is where turmoil began to set in and cause issues for most. Nobody was able to separate fron the pack and take advantage of mistakes.

As holes 10-13 were wrapped up and in the books, there was practically no movement on the leaderboard. Everyone was staying within an arms length of one another. Hole 14 is where the problems began as Chris S. and Vinny failed to stay on the narrow path and dropped from the pack. Hole 15 claimed the life of Chris M. as his forehand tee shot sent him into the woods.

The short 16th caused no issues, keeping the leaderboard as is. The 17th is where movement started happening. After bogeys by everyone except Joe, the competition was now between 2 individuals going into the 18th hole. With Joe and Will tied, it was up to the longest hole on the course to decide who the champion would be... or would it be up to the 18th? Joe and Will finishes the 18th with bogeys and tie once more.

It was decided by both Joe and Will that they will play hole 1 to decide the winner of Weekly Informal 7. With decent tee shots by both competitors, they set up their 2nd shot right next to each other and with a straight shot about 100ft from the basket. Will goes first and takes his disc right-to-left and lands about 30ft out. Joe knows that all he needs to do is get closer to have a higher percentage par shot for the win. With the Innova Wolf in his hand, he sends his second shot to a bounce and ricochet off of a tree. The disc lands 8 feet from the basket. Joe opts to finish and takes an easy par for the hole. It is now up to Will to par a 30ft shot and send this thing into another playoff. He shoots.... it looks like it's going.... ALMOST..... and with about 7ft left, it dies and hangs a left into the dirt.

Joe Mangrum wins Weekly Informal 7 and takes the Victory Monster trophy. Now all he needs to do is stay focused and defend the title during Weekly Informal 8 at Buckhorn.

Friday afternoon played host to a wet and wild Weekly Informal 6 held at USF Riverfront Park. With puddles on the course to negotiate through and slick discs to throw, the expectation of terrible scores turned out to be far from the truth.

Through the first 7 holes, Joe Mangrum blasted through to take an early 2 stroke lead with Vinny Piperato and Chris Sikes trying to climb back into the race. After bogeys on hole 8 and hole 9 by Joe, Vinny was able to hang on with pars and go into the back 9 tied at +5. Chris was struggling on the front 9 with a +10.

Hole 10 began with a misfire tee shot by Vinny which sent the driver into the woods. He was lucky to escape with a bogey Joe and Chris were able to keep their drives on the fairway and escape with pars, giving Joe the lead once more. Hole 11 and 12 were slight dog legs to the left where Vinny had the edge with his Champion Groove working the angles. Vinny was able to par both holes where Joe wrapped up the 2 holes with a bogey and a par. With Joe and Vinny tied through 13 holes, it was the 14th hole where Vinny was finally able to gain a 1-stroke lead and hang on to win. Both members played their best ever on the course as they both were able to break the previous course record held by defending USF Riverfront champ Will the Token.

The Tampa Disc Slingers hosted their 5th tournament on Friday with a record number of participants. With a perfect record of 3-0 in tournament play, Vinny Piperato wins by a slim margin and retakes the coveted Vicotry Monster Trophy from defending champion Will Parson.

The brutal Florida heat played a major role in the tournament as 2 members in the playing field had to discontinue the attack on the course after playing the front 9 holes. With 5 remaining members still in the game after the front 9, only 1 stroke separted Will and Vinny with the rest of the competition trailing by 4 or more strokes. With no margin for error on either side, the two tournament winners stayed side by side until the final hole when Will ended with a double-bogey and Vinny was able to escape with a bogey. This week we had a limited showing of people for the tournament, but hopefully next week everyone will be in better shape to play.

Will -The Token- played one of the best games of his career so far. He finished first with only 9 over and beat out Joe by 2 strokes. The Token will be back next week to defend his title against all who would like to try to take it from him.

Joe played the game that he has been hinting at over the last few weeks. He is slowly getting the control and the distance needed to become a formidable force on the course.

Members of the Tampa Bay Disc Slingers stepped foot onto Riverfront Park on Friday with their eyes set on the tournament win and victory monster trophy. After a 3 hour battle in Florida heat, Vinny was able to take down the competition and capture his second tournament win. In addition to the win, he was able to set a new Tampa Disc Slingers course record. The top 3 finishers:

This week's tournament will play host to 7 competitors. The victory monster trophy will be up for grabs. Here is the breakdown of the field:

#1 Vinny Piperato - The current champion. After adding the champion groove distance driver a week ago, his game has gone from a steady +8 to a +13 average. "I need to get that groove under control. I have no choice but to deal with the growing pains." With his average score rising and form not yet perfected, this champion is in danger of losing the crown.

#2 Joe M. - His game improvement is taking huge positive strides. Joe's last 3 recorded scores have been +21, +19, +16. He is on target for a +14 score, which is the current course record for the Tampa Disc Slingers. With no last minute form or disc adjustments, Joe is sure to bring a solid attack to the course.

#3 Chris Sikes - Another member that has been able to decrease his score. His last 3 recorded scores were +24, +22, +19. In addition the form imporvements, Chris has also added a set of top-rated discs and will use them for the first time at the tournament. If he can quickly adjust to his new arsenal, he will possess the potential to match the club course record, take home the trophy, and capture the #1 rank.

#4 Matt Massuto - He has 2 things going for him right now. The first thing is that he has gone from a score of +28 to +20 in one week. The second thing is that his attack on the course consists of any type of throw you can think of, making obstacles less difficult for Matt. There are rumors that he will purchase new discs for the tournament which will make him even more dynamic. It will be interesting to see if he can bring everything together and become a top competitor.

#6 Will Parson - Even with just 1 round of disc golf under his belt, this new member is ready to take on the competition. His arm strength and short game is projected as one of the best. With the tournament just around the corner, Will is going in with positives on his side despite an injury and minimal playing experience.

#7 Scott Artal - This will be his first time ever playing disc golf and is looking forward to making an impression on the course. With good throwing power and a decent disc inventory, Scott will attempt bring an A game and make a name for himself.

#9 Adam Wojdakowski - A former disc golf veteran that has come out of retirement to be a member of the Tampa Disc Slingers. He was said to be one of the top players in his club back in Idaho and will attempt to leave his mark at his first club event. With his disc arsenal and skill level a secret, it will be exciting to see how Adam performs in the tournament.

The Tampa Disc Slingers hosted their first Weekly Informal tournament today. After a hot and windy round of disc golf, Vinny has claimed the tournament and the coveted Victory Monster trophy.

Through the first 4 holes, Matt grabbed hold of an early lead with his competition close behind. After back-to-back double bogeys, the doors were blown open for a new leader to top the boards. After the first 9 holes, Vinny took the lead, but with a slim margin. Joe, Matt, and Chris were a few strokes behind. Even with the wooded back 9 causing Vinny some problems, he was able to par some key holes and hold off the competition.
