The tee pad and tee sign for hole 17 have been temporarily removed. The city had to remove both to accommodate the upcoming project with the pond.

We do not have a word yet as to when it will be able to be reinstalled. We have a piece of turf on the fairway as a temp pad for the time being. We will keep you updated on any changes.

I am looking for a few people to lend a hand at the green course and Veterans this coming Saturday. Holes of focus will be holes 10, 11, and the green course holes 6-9. Always other work as well depending on the number of people we get.

Holes 2, 3 ,10, & 17 have been moved into mid positions.

Hole 18's tee box has been partially framed and filled in for safety purposes. We will continue this project to other tee pads as well. THESE ARE NOT EXTENDED TEE PADS. These are meant to stop people from falling off the front them due to erosion in most spots.

Lakeview DGC
Hole 15 moved to short position.
Will be evaluating other pin positions for the upcoming FF Finale.

Lakeview work day this coming Saturday the 30th @ 10 am.
We can use any help if even for a little bit. Most of the work will be focused on clearing dead fall (picking up sticks) we have a few fallen tress though out the course to take care of, as well as some minor tee pad repair.

I have been getting a lot of feedback lately on both options and have decided we are going to give this a shot this year to see how it plays out. I will have all of the info ready and updated by tomorrow evening as league starts this Thursday.

We have planned 2 workdays so far and we will definitely need some help cleaning up a few fairways of debris that has fallen over the past few months.
March 25th this Saturday at Lakeview in preparation for the frozen fingers finale. We will be meeting at 10 am in the front parking lot.
April 8th at the Vet prepping for the doubles event the following weekend.
In other news Big Money handicap league will start on Thursday April 27th.

Last week's format change worked out great. We changed it up to where each player will get 90 putts. One of the stations in the final round will be worth double points. This allowed us to shave almost an hour off of how long the league will run. We should be done around 9:00 - 9:30
We also added a side game this week.

It's finally done! The VET has 19 brand new Veterans Baskets in gloss white from Dynamic Discs!

Huge thank you to Jon Gensel, PK Deaner, Katfish, Joseph Cruz, Michael Thomas, Mark Festi, Bill Adamini, Joel Garn and several others for making this course renovation a reality! Over the past few seasons we have been raising funds through leagues, tournaments and donations.

The old baskets will be split between two new 9-Hole courses. A beginner course across the street from hole 6 at The VET and Nike Park, a technical course after hole 10 at Tri-C.

There are still several old baskets scattered around the course, please ignore them if you plan to play the intended layout for Fall 2017. The official layout is wherever the Veterans Baskets are!

Thank you to everyone who supports our club and helps us grow the sport in Parma, Ohio!

The Parma Disc Golf Club is running a bag tag challange this season to raise money to install new baskets at Veterans memorial park (Mike broda memorial DGC). These tags will be $20 a piece and will be available at any parma leauge / tournament event.

Here's the twist...
We will be drawing a number at random on the last Thursday handicap night of the season, the winner holding that tag # will receive a brand new dynamic disc recruit basket!!!

But wait there's more...
The club will also pay the 1st and last place tag entry to the beauty, beast and Bishop tournament scheduled for August 5 - 6th.

I want to personally thank every each and one of you who helped to create, launch and spread the word of HOLE8 and PDGC. Without you and your fellow tossers support, what we created and developed over the past few yrs just isnt possible. But the BEAST never sleeps and and the BEAUTY can never have enough attention or cash!.........I want to intimately apologize to the ENTIRE disc golf community for my absence and for whatever impact it may have had. For those of you who read this or if you even think you care at this point in time or would in the future. There is NO good enough excuse for my absence but we all have lists of our own that keep us down. Unfortunatly those convictions win us over some times and we feel all is lost. Now on to a higher note, I was taught and also had to RE-LEARN those infamous words "if you have nothing good to say, then say nothing at all". So after all that, what I have to say my friends is that I PROMISE We will continue to BEAT this path through the shrubs and prickers and clean up this fairway for ALL to enjoy!..... Let your voice be heard. They are listening! We have a foot in the door and we are the closest we have been to getting disc golf added to our metroparks. So make time to stop out and say you would like to see disc golf in our park system. It's up to you to make the difference. I will be there sitting with the west creek preservation group. PDGC will be recognized on the rear of the pad as a sponsor of the extra pad

If you wish to help out, we need a few more pads done. $50 is the cost of materials, labor will be performed by the PDGC.
You will then have your name or clubs name in the pad for the life of the pad.

Well a new summer break is upon us again. And the parma kids are at it again. All the benches and garbage bucket have been destroyed. Along with the tee markers for the back 9. So in a last ditch effort to stop the destruction. Pk deaner and I have embarked on a bench fortification project. This started last night we built and cemented in a bench on 2. With plans for benches on 8 13 15 and 16 being rebuilt to last. In other news tee pads on the back will get Marked in the coming few weeks redesigning holes 16 and 18 to accommodate new tee pads and locations.
Even with the hurdles PDGC will make it happen.

The Poles are set! Yeah! Jim and I spent most of the day clearing fairways and greens.
The city will mulch greens and clear brush the remainder of the week near the end of the week
the baskets will go in. We have a few things to do as well.
To do list
hole 2 tee pad needs acetone and wire brushed
hole 3 bench needs secured
hole 4 brush piles needs removed from fairway
hole 11, 2 islands on the left need prickers removed, sticks from removed tree needs cleared from fairway
hole 12 tee area fairway and landing area cleared or brush and prickers, jim and i hit the gren hard today
hole 13 bench needs secured, dead sticks removed from fairway, behind basket needs cleared
hole 14 a few small trees and brush on the right side needs cleared
hole 15 bench needs secured fairway left of path to the triangle needs cleared big time, right side widened up to the fallen tree
hole 16 bench needs securedfairway widened, just bruch cleared from green area leave the small trees
hole 17 fairway needs a bit more clearing
hole 18 bench needs to be made tee area needs worked on a bit more

as you see we are far from done, and those who offered to help, Iwill be up at the course all week after work and during when i can get away. So dont be strangers lend a hand, an hour of your time will go a long way.

if you use facebook i just started a parma disc golf club facebook page last week. i like this site alot better for disc golf things but that site is so popular alot of people don't know about discgolfscene yet so if you use facebook please check it out and "like" it. i need some more hits to get a url link for it. it also has pics, course info, and our league events invitations and rsvp lists. i have a link to disc golf scene on there. I have found that some people use one or the other or some use both so its just a way to let more people know what we are doing and get them out disc golfing at parma. also if you have any questions past scores, handicaps, or tips for me please let me know as i am pretty new to both the sport and facebook and suggestions are welcome. Thank you Mike for doing all that you do for that course. You have really gotten the ball rolling there and it is quickly becoming the best disc golf course in the cleveland area .. you rock.

5/4/2010 The fourth and final course in the Cleveland area is the most difficult. A great mix of wooded shots with small elevation changes gives the course a great risk / reward feel. This is really the only one of the 4 Cleveland courses where you can get yourself in trouble & have to scramble to save par. Birdie options on 1 & 9 are a must for a solid round, while the rest are difficult, but possible.
Why only a 3-star? Because it only has 9 holes. The local crew is still gathering money & permission to construct the back 9 which hopefully will be in before long. A good score on 9 holes is a couple down, though don't be surprised to shoot 3 or 4 if you're hot or +2 or +3 if you're not.

Its because of your hard work that the walk thru with the city went as well as it did, I have a few things to do before the city proceeds. The city will install baskets only by labor day or there about. tee pads and signs at later date, pending fund raising tourney. This is what needs done in the next few weeks....

1 Insure the baskets placements are where they should go.
2 Mark/flag hazderous trees and limbs that are ready to fall, city will fall the trees and leave stumps for benches. looking for 2x10s.
3 clear underbrush on 15,16,17
4 finish course sign door, and post club info, city info and course map created and posted.
5 remove baskets we placed, looking at Nike site for 2nd course!

Next week I will be walking the back nine with the Parks Director Micky V and the service dept head Steve to see what needs to be done by the city to finish the install. So >>>>>
Saturday all day I will be cleaning garbage and clearing what I can on the back nine and re hashing the layout. 11 is going to be a short ace run instead of the dogleg, 17 will be 100 feet longer, and I want to relocate 18s tee. The more folks we can get out the better. Bring any clippers or weed whips machettes what ever ya got and lend a hand. Sunday I will setup temp course and we will do 27 hole scramble 3 times around to try and beat down a lil more before the city visit. My goal is to make any vandalism thats occuring, be less noticable. THIS WILL CONVINCE THE CITY THE BASKETS WONT GET DAMAGED. With that said we had spray paint on 2s tee that needs removed as well.

Please pass this along I will have water, and will be collecting for pizza and beer at my house afterwards.
