Hey bee chuckers! Hope all is well. Few updates:

1. Chuckin Bees with B has it's first registrant (brave soul). We learned that the registration link was not working and I was able to fix it (score!). The registration will remain open for the duration of the clinic, people can register any time. The clinic will start this Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 8 AM at Mill Brook. We're starting early at the request of the lone attendee. Feel free to come by, hopefully we get some more attendees.

2. We scheduled the Swan Harbor Social with the Swan Harbor Farm (another score!). Date = November 21, 2020. More info will follow on the scene and other places on the interwebs. If you haven't played before, you will not be disappointed. I plan on cooking food, so the registration will include a lunch option. Club members will get a $5 discount. The Social is a non-PDGA event and the proceeds benefit the Harford County Disc Golf Club. The Social is already posted on the MD Disc Golf page (I think in Facebook). You don't want to miss this event!, tell your friends! Did I just hear someone yell, "Sooooccciiiiaaalllll"....?

3. Standing Workdays at Mill Brook. As part of the Mill Brook work crew, I offer to schedule standing workdays on the second Saturday of each month , starting around 11 AM (yes, after the clinic). Anyone with me? With the fall and winter coming, we can continue with course clean up and light maintenance. We have nine benches to install on the course and we should definitely get that done. Feel free to email ([email redacted]) or call/text me (484-663-9504) if you want to chat about Mill Brook course projects.

Forgot to mention that all of our events will follow all required COVID-19 guidelines, which include social distancing and wearing a mask when we are not able to socially distance. We will follow these basic rules (pulled from Maryland's COVID-19 site):

All Marylanders are advised to take precautions to slow the spread of COVID-19:

All Marylanders are also advised to practice social distancing. Social distancing is a way to keep people from interacting closely or frequently enough to spread an infectious disease. Social distancing can take many forms, depending on your lifestyle and your family and work situation, and can include the following habits and steps:

Avoid handshaking, hugging and other intimate types of greeting
Avoid non-essential travel (your health care provider may have specific guidance for your situation)
Avoid crowds, especially in poorly ventilated spaces
Work from home if possible for your work situation
Avoid unnecessary errands — consider ways to have essential items, like food and other household supplies, brought to your house through online delivery services or through family or social networks

Wow, no comments since 2018! Well, let's change that...

Hello all followers of the HarCo Disc Golf Club, may this message find you in good health and your bees flying straight down fairways!

We received approval from the Churchville Rec Council to start a weekly random doubles event and we held our first event on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 @ Scarboro Hills. We had about 30 players show up and 20 finished the round (storms rolled through and the smart players headed for their cars). This week, we'll be at Mill Brook (alternate each week between the two courses). Tee time is 6 P.M. Cory Sargent is the lead for the weekly dubs event. Cost = $5 with payouts to the winning team ($3 per player; an ace pot ($1 per player); and small donation to the club ($1 per player)). Please help spread the word and let's fill the hosting course on Wednesdays!

We also received permission to teach a disc golf class, which I will lead, at the Churchville Rec Center (Level Building/Mill Brook) on Saturday mornings. The class is open to all ages and experiences, come one, come all! Class will start on Saturday, August 22 and run to Saturday, October 10. Each session will begin at 9 A.M. and end at 11 A.M..

In addition to two hours of individual instruction for eight weeks, all participants will receive a pack of three discs and a bag! Cost = $175, with proceeds benefiting the club. Discs and bags will be provided by Daddy Disc Golf (https://www.daddydiscgolf.com/). More information to follow shortly, including links to virtual registration and a flyer with the info. I always like coming up there. Good group of throwers and a fun course. We'll be back!

My concern was along lines of if we were working on a tee pad or something would that interfere or other things along that line. Obviously our club is aware of possible work going on. But I do think that if we wanted to do something at say French Creek (example) you have spoken with someone of their club and/or checked into make sure no events have been scheduled that day. Just a courtesy and coordination thing.

Oh I agree with you Brian, we never told him no. On the MD board he scheduled a bunch of dates that conflicted with other events and club activities throughout the state that ruffled a few feathers. But he has recently changed it to Lake Montebello only events. I do think it would be common courtesy to at least let the local club of a course know that you want to hold an event, whether it be SHDGC or any other club.

this is not a bash against anyone or any club, just stating an opinion. If the Lake Montebello guys want to hold a Tag match at Scarboro, feel free to do so. Just try not to conflict with a club event is all I ask.

public parks = free use by anyone, anytime....only caveat is whether or not they'll need to close the course for their event. if so, that's when they should coordinate with SHDGC. if they don't need to close the course, then I don't think we can tell anyone "No." It's not like there is only one pavillion and must be reserved due to limited space. one thing we need to recognize is that county parks are paid for and cared for with tax payer dollars, it's a public place not private property. I really don't feel comfortable telling someone they need to coordinate with us before hosting an event at Scarboro. if there is a scheduling conflict, that's different, i'd argue that our event would trump anyone else's. this represents my opinion, not county policy.
