We will throw 1 round of 18 holes in a A and B format and Will provide a stamped Ice Bowl disc with early entry, all other money and food will go directly to St. James. Come show your support for a disc golfer in need!!!

For anybody who knows Sean "Ninja Daddy" Barnes, you know he is one of the nicest and most giving players associated with Lake County Disc Golf. His generosity comes both with time and money given to courses, but also to his fellow disc golf family. Sean has fallen on some serious health issues, and we'd like to give back to him, just as he has and would do for any of us.

This event will be a Bring Your Own Partner Doubles Event playing "Best Shot" format with two rounds of 9 holes at Osborne Park in Willoughby, Ohio. All proceeds will go directly to Sean to help him out in his time of need. We are actively looking for donations of prizes for this event and a benefit to be held after the event at Lakeshore Lounge to raise additional funds for Sean and his family. Please consider donating a disc or anything else disc golf related for this event. Prizes will be based on the donations we receive, and at a minimum, there will be CTPs on each hole during the event and hopefully some extra prizes for the top 2-3 teams in each division.

If registration dictates, this event may move to Sims Park to allow more players to participate.

Because of the fact that Lake County has gone Red (COVID) We have been asked to suspend League until we are back in Orange. I will hold the 108 dollar Ace fund and we will hopefully resume after the start of the year. If things settle down again we will resume. We will go in 3 week intervals, When back in Orange league will resume the next week. Enjoy the holidays and keep groups at The Park to 4 or less per group until further notice. I know there are those who will be upset, but as a Club we must do as the Park says. Course will remain open to small groups still for now! Sorry and please keep up with news. Week 2 of the NEO East Side Virtual Disc Golf League begins tomorrow with this week's round being at Osborne Park in Willougby!!! League rounds can be played at any time beginning tomorrow through this following Monday (5/18). Please remember these simple rules:

1. Send payment before your round to PayPal (Friends and Family)

2. Post on the Facebook Group page or discgolfscen.com page before your round to "schedule" your round. Groups must be 2-4 players per card.

3. Send an image of the scorecard to me via messenger or text within 4 hours of your scheduled round start time.
We didn't have any glaring issues last week, so I'm hoping this has worked well.

Don't forget, this week is 2 rounds of the 9 hole layout at The Oz. Course OBs have already been posted and will be in play. Derails and league rules and other info can be found on the League group here on FB.

Last week we had 30 total players. Let's see if we can surpass that for this week!!! Spread the word and GOOD LUCK!!!!

NEO East Side Virtual Disc Golf League!!

We will be starting a new type of singles disc golf league for the month of May until we are cleared to begin normal Scrambles leagues at our local courses. Check out our league page and join if you are interested! League rules can be found in the description. If you are interested, join the league and schedule your rounds!! There is also a page on Facebook with the same name. All info and news will be handled at both sites, with scores managed on dgs.com

First league round begins next Friday, May 8th at Sims Park and will move to a different course for each of the other 3 weeks this is being done. Rounds will be allowed during a 4 day window each week, running Friday through Monday. Rounds must be played with cards of a minimum of 2 players and a maximum of 4. There are strict rules for payment, scheduling of rounds, and score reporting that are explained on the league pages and must be followed to have an accepted score. This is open to all players, and all payments will for entry and weekly payouts will be handled on PayPal. So check it out and get out there on the course for some "virtual" competition!!

Week 1 -- Sims Park in Euclid (20 hole layout including 1 and 2)
Week 2 -- Osborne Park in Willoughby (2 rounds of 9)

After crossing the road Hole 2 throws strait with woods on the left 229'. Hole 3 is down the hill and along Lake Erie. throws right and up a hill 252'. Walk along lake to hole 4 which is up the hill now away from the lake. A tree on the right makes it a tough drive 368'. Hole 5 now throws along the tree line at the east side of park 329'. Hole 6 runs along the pedestrian trail south 382'. Hole 7 now throws from the path west toward the woods 252'. Hole 8 is west of the tennis court and throws through a very tight wooded area 275'. Hole 9 is the wooded hole that doglegs left into the woods by the course sign 265'. Hole 9 now finishes by the sign. Erosion has forced us to change it yet again. All par 3.

Some holes at Sims may be deemed unplayable tomorrow morning, but there will be a minimum of 18 holes played at each course. I will be down at Sims around 8 to assess the situation on holes that may be in question. It's August 1st and we finally have a green light to proceed with the tee pad installation at The Pond in Painesville Recreation Park! Currently our contractor has a backlog of work and will not be able to start until mid-August. In order to make way for this project to continue, there are a few baskets and tee locations that will need to be moved. I will give details on that later, but what we really need now is some guys who are willing to help out and see this project through. Most of us work during the week which makes moving these things difficult. Since we don't want to limit our manpower, we are having Painesville City Park dig the new basket holes and all we will need to do is dig up the old ones (four total) and move them to their new locations (with concrete in tact) and spread some more concrete over top and around the base. We are looking to do this on Saturday's and Sunday's. If you are willing to help, please let us know what Saturday's and Sunday's you are open to help in August. Also let us know if you have shovels and or wheel barrows you can bring to help make the move. We are almost done with the course and look forward to working together to complete it! Thanks in advance for your volunteer service.

This will help prevent them from further damage and add to the life of the signs. Bring your screw guns to help with this if you have them. We will also do a little more "trimming" on hole 9 as well as some cleanup. Also, bring any discs you no longer use as we will try to plan a disc swap. If time permits we may even throw a round! The Prodigy Par2 Event returns to the Greater Cleveland area for 2017!! This event features 2 rounds of a shortened course played as all par 2 holes at the new course at Painesville Recreation Park in Painesville, OH. Lowest score wins!! Player's packs include Prodigy PA1 and PA4 putters in 200 Glow plastic, 1 Prodigy Ace beanie, a Prodigy sticker, and Prodigy wristband, all included with your $25 entry fee. The grand prize will a Prodigy BP-3 Backpack bag, and the runner-up will receive a Prodigy Tournament Bag. A Ring of Fire will also be done with the prize being a Prodigy Starter Bag. "The City has an event “Fall Fest” scheduled for Saturday October 22nd. This event will take place at Kiwanis Recreation Park – main hub will be Riverview pavilion. This event will encompass the entire north half of the park. We will be starting our setup on Thursday October 20th and cleanup to be completed on Monday October 24th. Mickey will be writing a memorandum of understanding between the Parks dept and club. We have decided on an April 16th Fundraiser tournament as a final push towards our goals. We hope to start install as early as May and will be looking for help for clearing of the one woods hole and of course with the install!! We also will be looking for donations for our fundraiser! Play It Again Sports is teaming up with Painesville Disc Golf to hold another fundraiser for a day at the store in Mayfield. The date has been set for Saturday, March 12th from 10am to 7pm. In the meantime, we could use some feedback from you to make this event a huge success. Please reply to this post and let us know what discs(s) you are looking to buy in the future. List the disc manufacturer, model, weight range, and color (if you have a preference). We will compile a list of all the requested discs and submit them to Play It Again Sports in time for them to place an order at the end of February. The discs should arrive in time for the fundraising event in March. This way you will be helping a business and a disc golf course all at the same time. As this gets posted, equipment for the course is starting to roll in. It's a very exciting time for Painesville Disc Golf! That being said, we are in need of help for the course install. We are looking for both experienced and those that have never installed a course before to help. The main duties included mixing and pouring concrete as the City of Painesville will be digging holes for us with an auger. We will also need someone to help make sure the installed baskets are level and at the correct height. The work dates have not been assigned yet, but we are looking to start sometime around the week of June 22nd. Saturday's are the most likely days for the install, but we will not rule out evenings during the week if that works better for most. If you would like to help with the course install, please send us an email at [email redacted] and we will get in touch with you. Our goal is to make this one of the best courses in Northeast Ohio!

For those of you who couldn't be there at our first meeting here are some highlights of the evening:

1. We have raised $1,750 to date (our goal is $5,000 to cover a nine hole course to start).
2. A final layout of the course will be made by the end of April.
3. Our lengthy discussion of selecting a disc golf basket continues between DGA & Innova.
Both baskets are rated identical with the exception of the Innova yellow band having a tendency to fade.
The Innova course package (with signs) is about $1,300 cheaper than DGA.
The total amount of money we raise by the end of April will most likely determine which set we will purchase.
4. We have tentatively scheduled a disc golf tournament on Saturday, April 11th to help raise funds for the course.
More details to follow soon.
5. We are in the process of scheduling a fundraising day at Play It Again Sports in Lyndhurst.
They will give back a portion of what they sell on a designated day provided people use our club flyer we hand out.
6. We plan on ordering equipment the beginning of May and will begin the install after it arrives.
7. We will need as many volunteers as we can get to help with the installation of the course.

To establish a good day and time, please respond to this post telling us what day and time of the week is good for you to attend. We will try to accommodate as many people as we can.
