May 10th @ Horning's Hideout in Northplains, OR

The Women's Global Event is back! This year two Portland based women's disc golf clubs, WOMEN of DGOD! and Chick Flick - NW Disc Golfing Women, are co-hosting the one day, two round event. Entry in to this event is totally FREE! Players are responsible for the $4/person day use fee at Horning's Hideout on the day of the tournament.

How does it work?
On May 10th, women from all around the world will play two rounds of disc golf at their local participating Women's Global Event. Scores from the first two rounds of each participating tournament will be submitted by the individual tournament directors and rated by the PDGA. These round ratings will be totaled and averaged to determine the player's "Global Score." For the rounds to qualify, the event must include two rounds and have at least three ratings propagators playing on the same course layout each round for ratings to be calculated as accurately as possible. The Global Scores will be updated throughout the day to determine our Women’s Global Event Champions and the winner in each division will receive a memorable trophy. With the Chick Flick just a few days away we wanted to send an email to answer some questions we have received. Sorry this is wordy, but please take a second to read it. Also if you signed up for another player or caddie please pass this information along to them.

It's going to be HOT. Please bring a water bottle for your round. We will not have water bottles available. There will be some water available on the course but be prepared with the water you think you'll need as it tends to run out quickly during hot rounds. There are faucets available to fill your bottles before the round

Checking in for players/caddies/guests: Please check in when you arrive. Each player needs to check in herself in order to pick up their player pack Check in is at the big tent by the practice basket. You'll see it, don't worry. At check in you can pick up your player's pack, wristband for camping/lunches, purchase raffle tickets, and ask any questions you may have about the weekend.
Check in will be available Friday night from 5:30-7 PM, Saturday 8-8:45AM, and Sunday from 8-8:15 AM

Camping locations: General group camping is available below hole 14 on the canyon course. Quiet camping is located near hole 1 of the Meadow Ridge course. You must park your car and carry your gear to the spot (100-300ft) you can not drive into the camping area. Space is limited in the camping areas. Please place your tents as close as possible to other tents. Make a new friend if you arrive late and don't see an obvious spot.
EVERYONE IN THE GROUP CAMPING AREAS NEED TO HAVE A WRISTBAND. SEE TOURNAMENT CENTRAL FOR THIS.
Below is the schedule for the weekend. It will also be posted at tournament central. Please be on time for the players meeting Sunday morning and come to tournament central to sign up on a playing card. Keep in mind that the Sunday rounds are PDGA tournament rounds. This means that PDGA rules need to be followed on Sunday (we will go over these). This also means that in order to respect other player's concentration needs, young children and dogs are not allowed on the course. This is only during the Sunday rounds.

We will have schedules at tournament central. No need to memorize this.

May 12, 2012 is a day to mark in the history books of Women's Disc Golf. To follow in the footsteps of last year's Global Tournament, the PDGA and PDGA Women's Committee will be hosting the inaugural Women's Global Event. We invite women from all over the world to take part in this groundbreaking event!

The Chick Flick Women's Global Event will take place at Horning's Hideout both rounds on the Canyon Course.

So, What exactly is a Women's Global Event, you ask?

Here are the details: On May 12, 2012 women from all around the world will play two rounds of disc golf during their local global event. The scores for the two rounds will be submitted and rated by the PDGA. The round ratings will be added to determine the player's "Global Score."

For the rounds to qualify the event must include two rounds on the same layout on the same course and also have five players rated 800+ (male or female) to keep the ratings consistent across the competition. The global scores will be updated and ranked throughout the day to find our overall Women's Global Event Champions.

We will be offering all Pro and Am divisions and you do not have to be a current PDGA member to play, and the $10 non member fee will be waived for this event. This event has been coordinated to make it as accessible as possible to encourage more women to get out and play!!

Registration fees are $15 for amateurs, and $20 for pros. Each player who signs up will receive 1 Innova & 1 Discraft disc in their players pack. Amateurs will be awarded prizes & pros will be playing for cash. Be sure to sign up before April 12th to ensure you will reicive a players pack.

It's time to kick off the 2011 Chick Flick bag tag league. We will have our first match this Sunday January 23rd at Horning's Hideout. We will be meeting at 10am at tee #1 of the Canyon course. The tags are a benefit for all ladies who are Stumptown members. The cost to join Stumptown, or to renew a Stumptown membership is just $10. For 2011 we have decided to have the Chick Flick monthlies every 3rd Sunday teeing off at 10am. We will be picking a different course each month. The one month that will not be the 3rd Sunday will be August since the 2011 Chick Flick will be August 13th & 14th at Horning’s Hideout this will be considered the Chick Flick for August.

The monthlies are for the ladies to get together for some causal rounds. All skill levels are welcome. Usually we play one singles round, and then maybe a doubles round. We will be posting additional details for each month including the course information.

We will start off January Sunday the 16th at Leverich Park in Vancouver. We will meet at tee pad #1 at 10am.

Here is the schedule for the rest of the year:

Also remember this is a State Park, so you will have to pay the day use fee unless you have a pass. Also there are no dogs allowed in this park.

Don't forget October's Chick Flick is this coming Sunday the 17th. We are doing something a bit different this month, and taking part in the Stub Stewart work party. We will be meeting at 9am sharp at the Hilltop picnic area. We will work until about 1pm when we will break for lunch which is provided by Stumptown disc golf club to all the volunteers who take part in the work party. No need to bring tools they will be provided, but it is recommended you bring some work gloves. Also bring your disc golf gear because after lunch we will be playing a round.

Hey ladies we are going to do something a bit different for our October Chick Flick. We are going to have our October Chick Flick at the Stub Stewart work party on October 17th. We will ROCK the work party in the morning, and then play a round in the afternoon on the course. The work party will start at 9am and conclude at 1pm. Stumptown will be providing a BBQ lunch to all volunteers. Bring your men folk if you like for this one because the more volunteers the better.

Our plan is to be working from 9:00am SHARP to 1:00pm at which point we will break for a BBQ lunch provided by Stumptown Disc Golf and grilled up by Master Chef Jordan Lewis... Ok, maybe he's not a "master" chef, but he is willing and that has to count for something.

This work party will be tackling the back nine holes. While they are pretty rough right now, we're confident we can whip these holes into playable shape. We will be prepping the greens for chips, clearing paths and fairways of debris and trimming branches to open up the fairways .

So if you can make it, please gather at Hill Top Day Use Area promptly at 9:00am on 10/17/10.

Hey gang in preparation for our big Chick Flick Celebration in August we will be holding July's Chick Flick monthly at Horning's Hideout Sunday July 25th. We will meet at hole one on the Canyon course at 10am. This first round will also be an official Chick Flick bag tag match, so hopefully we will get a lot of tag holders out there for this one. No potluck for this one bring your own lunch. Most likely we will be playing some additional rounds after lunch.

The guys are welcome to accompany the ladies, but they will have to play amongst themselves while we play our Chick Flick rounds. Hey guys the attendees of January's Chick Flick decided to do something a little different for February's Chick Flick. We are going virtual We will be meeting at Teresa's house in Vancouver for some wii Tiger Woods disc golf action, snacks, mini golf, and some putting in the yard. This will be an all chick event, so the men can stay behind to watch the super bowl. This will be a potluck, so bring a yummy to share. Hey Ladies we have some news about the 3rd annual Chick Flick for 2010. The dates we are looking at are August 7th & 8th. We are currently working on a location, so stay tuned for that. We are also looking into the possibility of PDGA sactioning for the Sunday tournament. This year the Chick Flick will have co-tournament directors:

Celeste Scandiffio & Cindy McMahan who will both be TDing for the first time.

We will have some of the ladies who have been helping out for the last two years as Chick Flick board members to help out. We are currently working out the details of how the structure of the 2010 Chick Flick event will be, but we will definitely need some volunteers. More news to come after the first of the year.

Then for those who wish to can play a 2nd mixed doubles round, or choose to play a 2nd Chick round. Their is enough of us that know our way around, so every group should have a guide. Lets all bring something to share because that worked out so awesome last month.

We play most anywhere. We choose a place each month to play singles/doubles, depending on how many of us show up. It's usually on a Saturday during any given month. We will start posting them here as soon as we know about them. We've played Timber in Estacada, Pier in St Johns, Leverich in Vancouver, WA; Horning's Hideout in North Plains, Vance/Rockwood in Portland, Willamette in Corvallis, and so on. We are now meeting to plan our 2009 Tournament, which will be at Milo McGiver Park for two days in August - we will post the dates when we've firmed them up. Hope you will come and join us!!!!
