Just a reminder that with the outdoors masks mandate, in order to not have to wear masks please continue to practice social distancing. Considering the courses that we all play at this should not be an issue. No one is requiring you to wear a mask outside while playing league. We ask that all of our members to respect each other's space and social distance and if you can't social distance to then respect them by wearing a mask as appropriate. This is no different than the same request we had earlier this year at our events.

Donate now to the Keizer Rapids Disc Golf Course Basket Fundraiser visit https://donorbox.org/keizer-rapids-disc-golf-course-basket-fund for all the details!

Capital City Disc Golf (a local Salem, Oregon Non-Profit) has put together a project to replace the baskets at Keizer Rapids Disc Golf Park in Keizer, Oregon. The first step of this project is collecting donations from all the from our community both locally and globally to assist us with this project!


Our plan is to purchase 18 Innova DISCatcher® Pro baskets, sleeves, and materials to permanently install the baskets in the ground. Capital City Disc Golf Club and other community members will install the baskets. Existing baskets may be used for another upcoming project with the City of Keizer.


Project Costs
$5850 for 18 Baskets
$600 for 24 Extra Sleeves
$400 for 3400 pounds of concrete
$700 for Freight
$7550 Total

Approximately 4 man hours of work per basket $1800 in estimated volunteer hours.


We have submitted a grant application to the city of Keizer to match our funds and potentially reduce our donation goal. We will post updates as we work through that process.

You must pay before your play your round.
League Fees are Paid Online through the CCDG website at the link above (you can either pay with your Paypal account or there is an option to just use your credit or debit card without an account).
Shotgun Start at the scheduled time
All Scoring will be kept on uDisc league system
$100 Ace Pot for club members 1/2 for non-members
Payouts are made via Paypal to the email address you paid in with.
One player on your card must keep score for the card within the uDisc league system we have in place.

For the time being any Cap City event that requires check-in (currently ONLY Sunday Random Doubles) will now require all those wishing to play in the event to have a mask on during the check-in. We place your health and the health of all other players above our need to run the league and with that, if do not have a mask on for check-in you will need to get one.

Once cards have been set and players are on their way to their holes masks may be removed if you can maintain the required 6 feet of social distancing the state has requested. Masks are optional during play and are not required.

If after the round is over and there is a gathering to discuss scores either maintain 6 feet of distance or put your mask back on.

This is a charity event to support Serving Our Veterans at Home where all proceeds will be donated directly to SOVAH. It will be 1 fun round of unsanctioned disc golf followed by awards, mini games, and raffles. Players Pack is 2 custom stamp discs from the event along with some additional items as donated by sponsors. As of today all 18 holes have concrete tee pads. We had 8 people to show up, Dave Heider, Steve Jones, Shaun Kirk, Brent Cameron, Gary Fitzgerald, Terry Houck, Brad Rich, Michael Ray and myself. We knocked out the last 3 tee pads that needed poured Saturday morning. Shaun and myself formed and leveled them last Friday morning. Big thanks to everyone that helped, special thanks to Dave for use of his mixer/power supply and 2 seater quad to haul all the materials to the pads and another special thanks to Steve Jones for his expertise in concrete work. Hello All. We will be doing a work party on Sunday starting at 8AM at Cascades Gateway.

Details
We will be spreading bark chips around seven’s basket and cleaning up all the sticks and debris there. We will also be trimming some of the shrubbery between seven and eight. The ditch between 16 and 15 will be getting some attention if it’s dried out enough.

Please bring proper work attire and gloves.
If you have rakes and shovels and can bring them that would be great. I need some people that can commit to bringing a wheel barrel as well. If there is enough people with heavy shovels we can try and move more of the mulch off back from 15th tee pad.

We have $250 added cash for this payout. You must play all 4 rounds to qualify.

This is the finale for the CCDG Bagtag League. The purchase of a bag tag guarantees entry into the finale. Day of entries are welcome. $10 plus $10 membership fee if not already a member. (membership will be good through 2019). Finale disc guaranteed for bag tags purchased before the event.

Best 4 round raw score wins #1 tag and so on down the line. We are also having a handicap scoring payout for any entrants who complete all 4 rounds. If you have played in 5 handicap events this year or a total of 12 in the last two season, you will qualify for the handicap payout. We will take an average of your handicap from the two events and divide that by 2. Then apply that handicap score to each of the 4 rounds. E.g. if your avg handicap was -4, then your per round score would be adjusted by -2.

This Sunday March 13th anyone interested in helping out Capital City Disc Golf Club and its members can show up at the park at 8 am to assist with spreading wood chips around tee pads baskets and walk outs. We will also be trying to move/remove debris piles from around the course. If anyone has access to and/or is certified to run a bobcat we are trying to procure one along with a wood chipper to aid in this project.

So bring your love of the game, and your desire to keep our courses in beautiful playing condition, along with any garden rakes, wheel barrows, shovels, and work gloves and we will knock this out!

Purpose of the memberships is to put a portable toilet on the course. Memberships are $20 and will entitle you to play unlimited golf at Taloali when it is open to the public. Camp administrater said that if they dont get enough support, they will lock the gates and only people with annual stickers will be allowed in (worst case scenerio). This is to let everyone know that I personally called the camp administrator and informed her that we would have a large group there Sunday and she put us on the calender of events.I did this a week ago to make sure it was taken care of. As for the $13 dollars in the pay box, I am disappointed in a lot of people for not putting the money in the box. Everyone that plays there should put $2 in the box. Will have to talk about it but maybe TD's running events at Taloali should collect the fee when entries are collected and personally put the money in the box. Robert Jones

I'm asking for weed-eaters for this work party. If you got one please bring it. If you know someone who has one please borrow it. We need to clear the grass and other growth on all fairways.

We also need to remove all downed branches and trees.

We are also working on the back fill dirt for all those new concrete tee pads. There is plenty of dirt coming out of the new boat ramp and were trying to get the city drop it off around the course. R&R tree service has donated chips to course.

I am planning on pouring 17-18 at Keizer Rapids tomorrow morning. I will be picking up the barrel of concrete at 7:30am and ready for help from 8am untill we are done (11am-Noon).

If enough people show up we will clear the new location for hole 7 and pour it also. That will put a wrap on the concrete tee pad portion of the project!

The next steps are to have a survey of the course layout for mapping and signage, clearing of debris in fairway (chipper).

The Claggett Creek Watershed Council and staff from the Public Works Stormwater Division will be hosting another invasive weed pull at Keizer Rapids Park on Saturday, June 2, from 9:00am to noon. On April 14th our energetic volunteers removed 100 cubic yards of invasive scotch broom, but there’s a lot more work to do. No experience required! You’ll need long pants, sturdy shoes, sunscreen (hopefully), and a pair of gloves.

Come lend a hand, get some fresh air, and enjoy spending time with your neighbors. Refreshments will be provided. Please see our website for more information.

The 2nd Annual BATTLE at Keizer Rapids this weekend is officially CANCELED. I generate the jackpot for the BATTLE format from local businesses and players with hole sponsorship, organized in my BATTLE tournament directors packet. My car was stolen this morning with contents exceeding the value of the car including my entire disc golf bag, tools for work, boots, camp gear, and TD packet with sponsorships. All reported to Salem's finest in a detailed fashion.

I'll be parking near Tee Pad #5 at 9 am. I'll have the Weed Wrenches and the Loppers.
I plan to start pulling scotch broom on 13's fairway, that mess on the edge of the pond, and moving over to 16.

Monday February 20th, presidents day, we are going to whistlers bend for a day of disc golf. So far I have four going with me and I know more that would like to go. So if anyone is interested in going and willing to drive, please say something. We plan to leave Salem at 6am for the long drive. This is also Steve's birthday, so come on down and beat his ass in a totally non-gay way. This is a full day of disc golf so plan on being home in the evening possibly late, but it is well worth it. In my opinion this is one of if not the best course in Oregon.

We have been told by the city today that we have permission to begin work on tee pads 4 thru 9 at Keizer DGC.

This Sunday, 22 January, starting at 9am we will have a work party to level tee pads. Meet at tee pad #8 at the end of Chemawa Road.

We will have a rototiller from a rental company to do most of the work.

We need 5 -6 people to make this happen.
If you would like run a rototiller, come on out and have some fun.

The only tools we will need are shovels, rakes, picks, and an axe. Mostly raking and leveling with a shovel.

The work should go quickly in the soft ground.

We also need some respected and opinionated disc golfers to discuss and argue the location of tee pads where adjustments need to be made.

I want to thank the 7 club members plus myself for showing up for the Keizer City Council meeting last night. Those in attendence were Kyle Groff, Rich Ayers, Steve Moore, Jason Bruster, Lee Hartman, Chris McRae, Chris Wilcox and Robert Jones (If I forgot someone, please let me know). Chris McRae and Chris Wilcox both made public statements on behalf of the club. Money was approved for the pads at about 10:00 something, all of us were there fom 7:00 pm on.

Work party Saturday March 31st 9am... We will be setting precast tee pads!

Lowes came through with the $300 gift of lumber materials, Hertz Equipment Rental is providing the telescoping forklift to set the Precast pads and Advantage Precast is providing soil compactor.

The Goal:

- Lay pressure treated 2x4 stringers into pad locations
- Compact sand and gravel
- Set pads for holes 5,6,8,12,13
- With enough personel we could set pads for holes 1,14,15,16

Flooding due to heavy rain may not allow all this to be completed....
