Punderson Disc Golf Club 2022 Club Membership

Beginning to 2022, Punderson Disc Golf Club would like to introduce a new yearly club membership! This membership will have 3 distinct levels with the following breakdown:

Silver -- Bag Tag, Holographic Sticker, and Custom Mini -- $15

Gold -- Custom Long Sleeve Tee, Bag Tag, Holographic Sticker, and Custom Mini - $35

Diamond -- Custom Long Sleeve Tee, Bag Tag, Holographic Sticker, Custom Mini, Early Registration access to all Punderson events and tournaments - $50

Each level also includes a $2 discount on all stock discs (including tourney payouts) and an entry into the Bag Tag Raffle to be held at the end of the season that will include a minimum of 2 grand prizes.

With the growth of disc golf in the area and events filling up quicker than ever, this Diamond Level membership will give you an opportunity to claim your spot at our PDGA sanctioned events before registration opens to the public and will be LIMITED TO A TOTAL OF 25 SPOTS!!! So if you want to guarantee your chance to play in our events that typically sell out quickly, this is your chance. Also, rumor has it, Pun's Labyrinth X will be going to back to the original format for it's 10 year anniversary, with a limited field of 72 players. This Diamond Level Membership will get you a guaranteed spot before registration opens. For all events, those with a Diamond Level Membership will be given a 2 week window to register for events before the open to the public. Members will be contacted before pre-registration opens and closes to ensure they get a fair chance to take advantage of their membership.

All proceeds from membership sales will be used to cover additional insurance for our club that will help us run some new and unique events at the course for 2022, including a return to regular Glow Events and a few other surprises that will be announced this spring. Any remaining proceeds after the cost of insurance will go to raffle items that will be raffled off at the end of the season to the club members. This raffle will include a disc golf basket and disc golf bag, with other prizes to be determined based on total number of memberships sold.

There will also be a Club Membership Doubles Event (tentatively 4/16/22) where club members can come to get their items. This event will be a Random Draw A/B Doubles with a $5 or $10 entry, with 100% payouts to the field. More details to come on this in the near future.

Registration opens for Club Memberships on February 12th at 8 PM. Don't miss out if you want to one of those 25 Diamond Level Memberships!!

For Registration purposes, the different levels have been listed as follows:

Diamond Level -- Open (ONLY 25 TOTAL AVAILABLE!!!)

Gold Level -- Advanced

Silver Level -- Intermediate

The Diamond Level is capped and is first come first serve.

Join us for our 11th Ice Bowl in Lake County, this year to benefit St James food services to help feed the Hungry. Lake County disc golf holds this cause dear to our mission to give back to the communities that support us!

We will throw 1 round of 18 holes in a A and B format and Will provide a stamped Ice Bowl disc with early entry, all other money and food will go directly to St. James. Please consider supporting this and other Ice Bowls in the area especially this year. This year 25 dollars gets you in along with 2 cans or more of food. The first PDGA Sanctioned L-Tier league at Punderson kicks off tomorrow with a Reds to Longs format!!! Start time will be promptly at 6 PM, so please be at the course by 5:50. Weekly league entry will be $10, with $7 going to payouts. There will also be an optional $1 ace fund that will roll week to week, and an optional $1 Daily CTP that will pay out weekly. Please note that all league entries and payouts will be managed through Paypal. There will also be A, B, and C (women and children) pools each week, with A Pools set for more advanced players and B Pool set for Intermediate and below players. Indoor Putt and Approach Skills Competition

60% payout! Top 33% of each Division Paid(A,B,C). $25 Per Player Amateur Putt/Approach Contest!!! June 5, 2020 @ 6pm @ LNSP East
I am constructing the format for this Putt/Approach Contest. We hope to have future leagues come fall but thought this would be a nice introduction to this facility and warm up for your outdoor summer season!
There will be like 4-6 people on each card. Each player will get 2 Full Rounds of Throws. Each Round will be played as follows - Each group will start on a basket at the shortest distance. Each player will take 5 throws from that distance until all players have completed that distance and then the group moves back to the next distance and so on until each player has completed their round. We will have stations up to 170' feet for the competition.
Scoring and Further Details to be Explained.
Also we will possibly have a 220' Ace/CTP and an Elevated Tee Shot if the Facility will allow(some extra events like the elevated shot may cost $1 per throw so bring some cash for extra throws!)

Week 2 of the NEO East Side Virtual Disc Golf League begins tomorrow with this week's round being at Osborne Park in Willougby!!! League rounds can be played at any time beginning tomorrow through this following Monday (5/18). Please remember these simple rules:

1. Send payment before your round to PayPal (Friends and Family)

2. Post on the Facebook Group page or discgolfscen.com page before your round to "schedule" your round. Groups must be 2-4 players per card.

3. Send an image of the scorecard to me via messenger or text within 4 hours of your scheduled round start time.
We didn't have any glaring issues last week, so I'm hoping this has worked well.

Don't forget, this week is 2 rounds of the 9 hole layout at The Oz. Course OBs have already been posted and will be in play. Derails and league rules and other info can be found on the League group here on FB.

Last week we had 30 total players. Let's see if we can surpass that for this week!!! Spread the word and GOOD LUCK!!!!

A HUGE shout-out to Parma Disc Golf Club for taking the initiative on the Virtual Singles league. I now see the SCDGA will be doing something similar, and I have also set something up for anybody on the east side (or wherever) who may be interested. League Group page link will below. You can find it by the same name here on discgolfscene as well.

This league will be a Singles league with 4 weeks of activity and run through the end of May. A different east side course will be played each week, and the league schedule is as follows:

Week 1 -- Sims Park in Euclid
Week 2 -- Osborne Park in Willoughby
Week 3 -- Recreation Park (The Pond) in Painesville
Week 4 -- Punderson State Park in Newbury

Details can be found on the league page. We will be offering a 4 day window to compete rounds (Friday through Monday), using Paypal for both entry and payouts. A and B pools will be used, and there are very strict rules for participation. Check the page out and if you are interested, feel free to compete. This league is open for all and begins this week!!!

I'm hoping in June we will see a return to our normal leagues including Sims Monday Night Scrambles and the leagues at The Oz and Painesville. Once this is over, keep an eye out for a PDGA Sanctioned League that will be coming to Punderson on a day to be determined (so as to not interfere with any other long-standing leagues). With the recent situation in the world today, we have decided to postpone April's Fools at Sims Park in Euclid, Ohio. Hopefully we can bring it back as May Mayhem, June (or July) Jokers, or something of that sort. But in the interest of everyone's safety, this is the best decision.

2020 Sims Park League Updates

Now that the time has changed and we have an extra hour of daylight, it's almost time to get back out for leagues!!! Monday Night Scrambles will officially begin April 6th with a 5:30 start time. Scrambles will run with the same A/B format, with a $5 entry and optional $1 Ace Fund and $1 Random Hole CTP ($7 all in), similar as to the past couple years. Monday Night Scrambles should run through mid-October, with the start time being adjusted each month for available daylight. During the summer months, we will have our latest start at 6 PM, and as Fall draws near and daylight is lost, the start time will be moved back accordingly to allow for the round to be played.

Also, this year April's Fools will make it's debut at Sims Park!!! This 5 week wacky league will be held on Sundays at Sims Park with an 11 AM start beginning on March 22 running through the end of April, with Easter Sunday off. Random targets and obstacles will be placed on the course and many holes will have Mandos to change the way the course is played. Targets can act as Stroke Erasers or Penalties, depending on the weekly layout that will most likely change each week. This is a points league, and the winner will take home the April's Fools Champion Trophy!! This league also has a weekly prize raffle and other additional things to make it one of the strangest yet most fun leagues you will ever play. If you have played the infamous Sharky's March Madness at Punderson or any of the two previous years of April's Fools, you know how much fun this league is!!! League cost is $5 a week, with an optional Ace Fund for $1 and optional mulligans at 6 for $5. Mulligans are key to this league, as it is designed to make you work for your par on quite a few holes. Mulligan money will be used for league supplies and weekly and year end prizes. More details on this league can be found with the link below:

Seeing as how this year's Pun's Labyrinth sold out so quick, discussion has already started on how to grow this event to the next level, with even hopes of an eventual A-Tier in the near future. As many remember we tried a larger format a few years back that simply put did not run all that well. Granted there is different individuals now running the show, we want to do everything thing we can to avoid a repeat of that if we were to double the field size and make this event bigger. In our discussions, a couple of options came up and we'd like some feedback from individuals so we can start the planning for this ASAP and make sure we give the people want they want. With next year being the 10th year of this event, it honestly makes sense to do something bigger and better. So below, we have some tentative options and are looking for feedback from you the players who graciously support this event:

1. Leave it as is with two days, three rounds, max field of 72

2. Shorten the event a two-day, two-round format, with two fields, opening up the registration to 144 players with no division caps and more possible divisions. This is similar to what we did a few years ago, but we would only use the 18 hole formats and have to eliminate one of the rounds we currently use (TBD).

3. Make the event a three day event, running Friday through Sunday, with one round each day for two fields. This would also allow 144 total players, but would require a round to played on Friday. For example, we could start Friday's rounds at 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM, which is four total hours. This would be the Reds to Longs Round. Saturday would have rounds starting at 9 AM and 2 PM, giving 5 hours for the rounds. Sunday would follow the same timeline as Saturday. This would also allow for more divisions and no caps.

4. Set up a temporary course somewhere at the park or nearby to allow for a full 144 player field. The format and location for this would have to be researched. But we could possibly use the Archery course or maybe even the Golf Course for something of this nature. But this would require some investigative work to see if it's feasible. This would also allow for more divisions and no caps.

Each option has it's limitations and advantages. But we would like to find a way to open up a larger field size but keep people happy. Any input or other ideas anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
