FDGA Membership Mtg & Board Elections Wednesday 3 March 2021, 645pm
Hello Disc Golf World!

FDGA has decided to formally organize and get official non-profit 501c3 status in order to better grow disc golf in the interior of Alaska. To that end we're going to hold a Board Member Election over Zoom on Wednesday 3 March at 6:45 pm. In order to become a FDGA club member, you must be a resident of FNSB and pay $25 membership dues by cash or check to FDGA. Kate, Matt, and Juan are taking payment. Your dues this year will get you a club bag tag and club towel, make you eligible to run for a seat on the Board, and make you eligible to vote for the Board Members and on future FDGA club issues (we're seeking 7 board members - 4 officers and 3 members at large, positions will be determined by elected board at their first meeting).

Meier Lake Classic participants,



We are very excited about seeing everyone at Meier Lake in less than two weeks! It is hard to believe that the event is so close.



You will be part of history. The largest PDGA event in Alaska history was the 7th Annual King of the Hill event in 2017 which had 85 competitors. The Meier Lake Classic currently has 117 players signed up to play making it the largest sanctioned disc golf event in Alaska history!



I have attached a copy of the course map. The course has two tees on every hole (except for #17 which has one tee on a dock). The course has a white basket and a blue basket on each hole. The white basket is shorter than the blue basket on each hole. The only OB on the course is the lake and roads and beyond. Roads and beyond will only come into play on holes 17 & 18.



Layouts used during the week:

Wednesday Random Draw Doubles: Everyone will play the short tees to the white baskets

Thursday Random Draw Doubles: Everyone will play the long tees to the blue baskets

Battle Under the Midnight Sun (Friday): Everyone will play the short tees to the blue baskets

Meier Lake Classic First Round (Saturday): All Open and Advanced divisions will play the long tees to the blue baskets. All Intermediate, Recreational, and Junior divisions will play the short tees to the blue baskets.

Meier Lake Classic Second Round (Sunday): All Open and Advanced divisions will play the long tees to the white baskets. All Intermediate, Recreational, and Junior divisions will play the short tees to the white baskets.



When can you practice the course?

The course will be open for participants to practice during the following times:



Wednesday, July 15

9AM to 7PM

Players must be off of the course by 7PM when the Paige Shue Clinic and Random Draw Doubles starts.



Thursday, July 16

9AM to 7PM

Players must be off of the course by 7PM when the Eric McCabe Clinic and Random Draw Doubles starts.



Friday, July 17

9AM to 10PM

Players must be off of the course by 10PM when the Battle Under the Midnight Sun C-Tier starts.



Saturday, July 18

9AM to noon

Players must be off of the course by noon when the first tee times for the Meier Lake Classic begin.



Sunday, July 19

9AM to noon

Players must be off of the course by noon when the first tee times for the Meier Lake Classic begin.

Friday, July 17 – Battle Under the Midnight Sun C-Tier

7:00PM to 9:00PM - Check-In at Tent near hole 1

9:45 PM to 10:00PM - Player Meeting at Tent near hole 1

10:00PM - Shotgun Start

Water

Please bring a water bottle to use during your round. We will have water on the course to refill your bottles.



COVID-19 Travel Restrictions for folks coming to Alaska from out of state:



As of today, travelers flying into Alaska have three options when they arrive:



1. Arrive with proof of a qualifying negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of departure to Alaska.

2. Take a COVID-19 test when you arrive in Alaska, and self-quarantine until results arrive.

3. Self-quarantine for 14 days or the duration of your trip (whichever is shorter).

Im putting out feelers for interest in Nate Sexton running a Sexton Shootout on Tuesday June 25th at Hilltop with a 6 pm start . It will be 18 on the Blue layout with 3 divisions . The cost is 40 and includes 2 discs , the Shootout , Clinic and a Q and A . He will set it up on his web page for sign up and payment so you can spread out the costs of the different events and it not be a big financial drain . Anchorage Info: Weekly leagues in Anchorage are: Random Dubs on Wednesdays at Kincaid, Saturday singles at rotating courses, and a singles league at Hilltop Ski Area on Thursdays. I think there is an event coming up in Girdwood before the Fairbanks weekend too. Look up Lou Dogg (Louie Orozco) here on the 'scene for Anchorage event & league info, he'll hook you up.

If you have a day or two in Anchorage to play courses Kincaid Park and Hilltop Ski Area are not to be missed. Kincaid is a great course with 18 pro and am tees, a variety of holes and rolling elevation changes with defined fairways, and almost a sure thing to see moose at the park. Hilltop is a hybrid mountain course 18 with lots of elevation and wide open groomed fairways, and million dollar views. Greens Fees are $5 a day at Hilltop, and its well worth it. "Dine @ Nine"service offers pizza delivered to hole 9/10 at the top of the Hill for lunch/dinner options.

Thursdays, July 5 to August 9, 2012, 6pm sign ups until 6:30pm start time.
$5 per person (includes PDGA fees & Hilltop greens fee) ***non-PDGA members are welcome and encouraged too!

This is a PDGA Sanctioned weekly singles league, played by division on Thursdays at Hilltop Ski Area DGC.
Offering Open, Adv, Int, Rec & Wms divisions, no minimum # of players needed for division!
PDGA Sanctioned means current PDGA members will get round ratings for these rounds! You will also get PDGA C-tier points (which helps with World Championships invites, etc!). There will be weekly payouts by division, overall league awards at the end of the series, and some other random prizes each week (2's on 10 or 14? Amazing shots? Metal? fun stuff, whatev!) There will be a $50 ace pot.

Hilltop is playing great right now, freshly mowed and lots of bear sightings! :) What a great warm up for the 2nd Annual King of the Hill tournament in August!
