A lot of you can see, the club is going through changes. These changes are more like phases or layers. Like an onion, this club will grow multiple layers until it becomes a well rounded, mature, large club (totally stole that from Shrek). When the club opened, we had little to nothing to promise to people. Everyone wondered how long it would last. With a little confidence, participation and hope, the club has already started to grow.
The first layer was a building block for the rest of the club. We had to establish people we could rely on to be responsible for some part of the club’s success. There was a lot of research that took place. You can’t just throw things like this together before you know what you’re getting into. Then we needed a way to bring in revenue, but it was winter time!
The winter league was a great way to bring in some profit without getting in over our heads. Playing in the winter time really knocks a lot of players out of the picture. That was a smart move however. It allowed us to focus on areas that need work and more understanding. Running a league in the winter also gave us time to put the club together in other areas like getting a membership package together, creating a course proposal, searching out sponsors and investors.
We are now in a position where the winter league is ending and there is a two month gap between leagues. This is our time to raise money, so we will need everyone’s full participation. Most events will continue to be on Sundays, but will be shorter or longer depending on the event. The calendar schedule will be posted on Facebook and DiscGolfScene.com. IT WILL BE POSTED THIS TIME. Prices for the summer league are going to vary as well. Our singles league will be a litter more expensive considering the competition level vs. the doubles league. Doubles league will be more relaxed and more of a “chill” time. Dates for the summer league are still being determined, but we would like there to be 20 rounds at five different courses. There will be course champions as well as overall league champions. More info will be posted. Get ready for an exciting summer, people. Let’s grow an onion!

Hello everyone. The club is doing great! Everything is happening in the exact order it should. The club is making money while still producing enough funds for league prize payouts. We usually have two CTP prizes every round, which has turned out to be a big money maker. Things are going as well as they could be, considering its winter time! We’re headed into round eight and we’re bringing our game to Parma now for the remainder of the league. Remember guys, this is a champion caliber course. Watch your scores, remember your money shots and lower your average. Parma is not as difficult as most assume. We just need time to learn the layout more.

We know everyone had some DG gifts from Santa. Some bags, some discs… Nick Falanga even got a basket. Take your new gear, get out on the course and teach yourself more tricks.

The Wizards are soon to be ordered. We should be making an order sometime in early to mid January. Also, remember that the end of the year is only a day away, so get your membership renewals in. Any memberships purchased after October have been waived for renewal. Charter/Board member renewal: $10, Standard membership renewal: $15.

The Rochester Ice Bowl is on February 11, 2012. We want as many of you to go as possible. Check out GRDGC.org for more info. Preregistering gets your disc set aside, you can choose from a variety. We’re sure these discs have stamps considering they are an Ice Bowl fund raiser disc. Also looked around on the web and found a couple Ice Bowl Discs for 2012. So, your registration and three non-perishable food items gets you in, and registration is between $15 and $30 depending on what disc you desire. Let’s all go to this and have a good time in the bitter cold. And remember, “No wimps, No Whiners”.

Let’s Start Talking about Team EDGC. A small team of players to send to PDGA sanctioned events to represent the club. We’ll leave you with that on your mind.

Made contact with Gateway Disc Sports and we're waiting back for a deal on custom stamp Wizards with bag tags. The catch is they're a reasonable price but a min. order of 50 at $8 a disc.... Well that's a while down the road, we have smaller things to worry about. Sunday will mark the third round of the league at Basil, and we'll be playing two CTP challenges. Challenge one is on hole three and challenge two will be on hole nine. Hole three's prize will be a yellow Innova Dewfly microfiber towel. Hole nine's prize will be a blue Innova koozie. Remember people, some of these holes are aceable. So, put a dollar in the pool. There's already some bucks in there.

Keep your eye's on your discs! After a practice round at basil, we noted the amount of leaves. We were losing our discs on simple shots, so keep your eyes on where your disc lands. IT WILL SLIDE UNDER THE LEAVES! Bring your bright colored disc and cross your fingers. This is the worst time of the year for playing conditions. Once the snow is here, the leaves will be beat down and so will the snow shortly after.

The club will be placing merch. orders biweekly so contact clay when the time comes around. Hey, why wouldn't you order exact copy replacement discs online... for cheaper? Shipping is free too, so get ahold of clay next time you lose a special flying friend. See you all on sunday.

Wow.. We never thaught this club would be as respected as it has become. The Club and all it's members need to take this time to thank everyone who has helped, little or big, any support we have recieved for making this thing what it is now. So far we have been successfull and overall accepted by most people who know about us. These are the baby steps we have been talking about. Let's keep working to make this thing the biggest success out of upstate NY. Again thank you to all who helped.

Three trees perfectly spaced out thirty feet in front of me, hiding a basket 300 feet behind that. My first opinion was,” it should be a blast; I’m just going to slice through the opening.” After getting denied thirty feet from the tee on hole one, I tried to step up my game. However like anytime we play a new course someone lost a disc and I gave up keeping score.

The general review of this course is 4 out of 5 discs. Churchville is a great place; the townspeople are happening, a very involved community and there is a beautiful park where the course is located. On the other hand I began to get frustrated because we couldn’t find the right parking lot. The directions I got from PDGA’s website took us to the wrong parking lot. The lot that you want is singed “east & west lodges”. Once on the course, the game was as usual until the loss of a Champion Orc on hole 2. It was also upsetting because the course is separated by a commonly traveled road. A couple holes were played close to the road, which was a distraction. Once we reached hole 6, the game was on! Holes 6 through 15 were great! Long gradual slopes in the park partnered with blotches of trees here and there made it awesome. A few of the shots were great mid-range wooded shots. All was good till we reached “the walk”. The walk between holes 15 and 16 was at least 500 feet along the road. Then once you finished 16, you had to cross the street again to finish the last two beautiful holes. As usual hole 18 drops you off in the parking lot. “Day well spent. I guess.”

Hey everyone, glad to see this club is getting going finally. I know there is still alot of work to be done here. We still need a secretary, treasurer and public relations director and I know Missy and Mark are half interested in those positions. If anyone can think of a person who is responsible, reliable and is willing to put the effort into this thing, then we can get a full board of directors complete.

Making this club legit is the first step to getting support behind installing the Aqueduct Park 9 hole. Steph and I are working very hard on the proposal, we have tons of info; course cost, profit and loss, local support, sponsors, the whole 9 yards... or holes haha.

Lastly, if there are any golfers on this site who are not already in a club and live in the upstate area, please join our club. The club is non-profit and any money put into the club will come back to the players in the form of end-of-play cash pay-out, disc give-aways, club baskets, disc bags, towels, mini markers, clothing and a end of season club picnik.
