Thank you to Basket Bashers for sponsoring this event, and providing the players pack discs and non cash prizes. For more on Basket Bashers, Visit www.Basketbashers.com or visit their facebook page. They are a family owned online store, currently selling Mvp, Axiom, and Streamline disc products. They also sponsor players and tournament directors on their own team, Team Basket Bashers, with the intent on growing the sport, bringing in as many new players as possible, along with furthering the development of the entirety of the sport, and giving more attention on the growth to youth and female divisions.
Unfortunately, we are still under some stiff restrictions when it comes to social gathering and playing tournaments, So we are going to do a Match Play Bracket. This will allow for friendly competition while still adhering to social distancing policies.
This is going to be a double elimination bracket style tournament. 16 players max, and will start on Saturday June 6th. Each round will be given 1 week to be completed.
This is match play, so winner will be determined by how many holes they have won during their round, not overall strokes. Every hole is scored separately, if both players score the same on a hole, then it doesn't count as a point for either player, and does not carry over to the next hole. (this is one of the few differences compared to a skins match). One complete round will be played, total number of holes depending on which course is played. (If agreeing to a nine hole course, please play twice through as a minimum of 18 holes will be required to create fairness to both players). If there is a tie at the end of the agreed upon round, it will also be up to the players to decide how to settle the tie. If there is no agreement, see the default rules below.
Starting matchups will be determined by random draw, and that random drawing will be done and matchups announced as soon as all 16 positions are filled. If you know your next opponent, you do not have to wait to play your next match until the next week. Play as soon as you can, thus hopefully avoiding as many scheduling conflicts as possible. The bracket format will be in default 16 person double elimination format. (Picture of format will be included in this tournament page).
The course of play shall be agreed upon between the 2 participants of each match, along with the time of that match. (If no course can be agreed upon, refer to default rules below). Again, a one week deadline will be given each round.
Round 1 matches shall be played by the end of Friday June 12. Round 3 Deadline will be the end of day on Friday June 19, and so on.
Due to the format of this event, many players will be pushing for their home courses. To avoid any arguments and opinions of unfairness, I have created a default set of rules to settle any differences.
Default Rules
If a course can not be agreed upon between the 2 players of the match, the course will be at Lake Township Park in Bridgman Michigan. The Sandridge official layout will be played. 1 round of 18 holes, Starting at hole 1, ending on hole 18.
If there is an unplayable hole due to standing water or other circumstance, either a temporary hole can be played if agreed upon, (Example, hole 9 is unplayable, players may agree to playing teepad 10 to basket 17), or replaying another hole to count for the unplayable hole (Example, playing hole 1 twice), to make up for the missing hole in the scorecard. If there is no mutual agreement, then that hole shall be scored as a par, being scored as a tie for the hole.
If there is a question of out of bounds, refer to the course signage and rules, then the pdga handbook for how to play it. If there is no agreement, take a picture of the lie and send that picture to the tournament director for ruling. continue playing the round, and if it comes down to that call, the tournament director will have final say.
If a Match is completed in a tie, the default tie breaker will be sudden death match play, first to win a hole will be the winner of the match. The tie breaker will start on the same hole that the round started on.
While any match is in progress, pdga guidelines will be followed, with all disputes going to the favor of the player in which the dispute is against.
Any match is allowed another unbiased person to follow along with the players, to help solve disputes.
All Players will receive 1 Premium plastic Mvp, Axiom, or Streamline Disc as players pack upon entry into bracket. The mold and availability of molds for this players pack are TBD.
Payouts and prizes.
1st place- A voyager slim V2 bag and $160 payout
2nd place- A nucleus Bag and $100 Payout
3rd Place- 3 discs provided by basket bashers and $60 payout
4th Place- 2 discs provided by basket bashers
If 16 players are not registered, a chance to register twice may be offered at a later time, but if that option is taken by any player they run the risk of matching up with themselves at any given round, and only one spot will move forward. If there are still unclaimed spots at the start of the tournament, then bye rounds will be instated, and will be up to random draw to who will receive those byes. If bye rounds are used, the total cash payouts will be changed accordingly.
