HCDGC Bag Tags Finale
About this tournament
This is the match play event final for the 2023 Henry County Disc Golf Club bag tags season. The event is open to all players that competed in at least two tags events during the 2023 season. A list of eligible players will be posted on the HCDGC Facebook page. Ineligible registrations will be removed. There is no registration fee for this event. Entry was purchased through prior participation. This is why participation is limited. The prize pool is $300 for this event and the top 4 spots will be paid out.
Brackets will be posted on Saturday evening after registration closes. Play will begin at noon on Sunday 12/17/23 at hole 2 at JP Moseley DG Course. You MUST have the tag that matches your registration on Sunday. Those without a tag will not be allowed to participate as final tags of the season are determined at this event.
All rounds will be head-to-head match play based on the incoming tags of the registered players. All holes will be win, lose, or tie for each player. If one player scores lower than the the other, the lower scoring player receives a point. The higher scoring player receives no point. No points are awarded to either player in the case of a tie on a hole. The point from a tied hole does not carry over to the next hole as it would in a skins match.
The player with the highest number of points at the end of the assigned number of holes or the player with an insurmountable lead faded on holes remaining in a match is the winner of the match. In case of a tie after the assigned number of holes, sudden-death play continues on the next holes on the course until a player wins a hole. The first player to win a hole in sudden death is the match winner.
The first rounds of play will be five holes: holes 2-6. The number of early rounds will be determined by the number of players. Holes 2A-2C may be substituted for variety in multiple rounds. Tee pad (blue or gold) will be based on player rating as has been done in all previous tags play this season. The winner of each match will be the first to three points, the player with the most points after the five holes, or the winner of sudden death, whichever comes first.
The semifinal round (four players remaining) will be holes 7, 8, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18. The winner of each semifinal match will be the first to four points, the player with the most points after the seven holes, or the winner of sudden death, whichever comes first.
The final round (two players remaining) will be the west 9 (daylight permitting). The final match winner and event winner will be the first to five points, the player with the most points after the nine holes, or the winner of sudden death, whichever comes first.
Subsequent rounds will tee off shortly after the completion of each earlier round of play. Every effort will be made to keep rounds moving and minimize downtime.
There will be side event putting and accuracy competitions available to all players. These events are also open to players not competing in the tags event. Side event sign ups will be available onsite.
Efforts will be made to pair up all interested match losers in consolation brackets, should players wish to play additional rounds of match play.
