2016 GoPro Mountain Games Disc Golf Championship
About this tournament
[Event will take place in the town of Vail (skills qualifiers) and on a yet to be determined temp course. Not actually on the Adventure Ridge disc golf course]
THIS EVENT IS FULL AND REGISTRATION IS CLOSED AS OF 2/16/2016. THERE IS NO WAIT LIST.
Disc golf RETURNS to the annual GoPro Mountain Games in Vail, CO! After an amazing response in its first year, we're gearing up for an even better experience in 2016 at one of the world's premier outdoor sports festivals!
Vibram Disc Golf and their athletes will be on hand to run the show again with the Flying Eagle Disc Society, Eagle County, Colorado's disc golf club, there to assist. The event will, once again, feature a HUGE prize purse with $7,500 being paid out to the top finishers (up from $5,000 last year), plus each athlete will receive a player's pack worth over $100.

..::SCHEDULE AND FORMAT::..
FRIDAY, JUNE 10th - QUALIFYING DAY 1
- Tee times from 9:00 am to 5:20 pm
- Each player to complete one round of 9 holes on a temp course
- During that round, each player will complete two skills challenges: PUTTING and ACCURACY
SATURDAY, JUNE 11th - QUALIFYING DAY 2
- Tee times from 7:30 am to 2:50 pm
- Each player to complete one round of 9 holes on a temp course
- During that round, each player will complete one skills challenge: MPH
SUNDAY, JUNE 12th - FINALS
- Top cumulative scorers from qualifying advance to Sunday final
- Two rounds of 9 holes on a temp course
- 9:30 AM Player's Meeting
- 10:00 AM Round one start (9 holes)
- 12:00 PM Lunch
- 1:00 PM Round two start (9 holes)
- 3:00 PM Awards
..::SKILLS CHALLENGES AND SCORING::..
- PUTTING -
Players attempt to make putts at a basket from various distances
o Four (4) putts at the 20’ target - each made putt is worth 6 points
o Four (4) putts at the 25’ target - each made putt is worth 8 points
o Four (4) putts at the 30’ target - each made putt is worth 10 points
- ACCURACY -
Players attempt to throw discs through two different targets, each 5 feet off the ground, 5 feet by 5 feet wide, 10 feet apart and 70 feet away, from different locations
o Four (4) throws from the left station - each target is worth 5 points
o Four (4) throws from the center station - each target is worth 3 points
o Four (4) throws from the right station - each target is worth 5 points
- MPH -
Players throw discs at a basket with as much speed as possible with potential score multipliers in play
o 1 point awarded per MPH
o 10% score bonus for sticking a throw in the basket
o 50% score bonus for the "mail slot", a small rectangular opening below the basket
- SCORING AND POINT ACCUMULATION -
Each player's score for the 9 hole round will be subtracted from their skills challenge point totals
Example Day 1 Qualifying Score:
o 58 points were earned in the PUTTING challenge
o 24 points were earned in the ACCURACY challenge
o The player shot a 30 in round 1
o Their day one score would be: 58+24-30=52
The same formula will be used for day 2 of qualifying. Both day 1 and day 2 scores are added together to determine player's overall qualifying score. Failure to complete a skills challenge will result in a score of 0 for that discipline. Failure to complete a 9 hole round will result in a DNF.
The Sunday finals will consist solely of stroke play disc golf competition with places determined by round score.
..::IMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION::..
- Total prize purse = $7,500. Payout schedule to be determined
- Players may use their own discs for all phases of the competition
- Tee times for Friday, day one of qualification, will be announced the week of the event
- Tee times for Saturday, day two of qualification, will be determined using Friday's scores
- Players will be notified of tee times via email along with updates on the Mountain Games web site
- Top 28% cumulative scores in each division (men & women) after both qualifying days are finished will advance to the Sunday finals
- Scores are reset for qualifiers going into the Sunday finals and each player starts again at zero
- Maximum field capacity of 180 players
- This event is not PDGA sanctioned
- Competition details, including but not limited to format and scoring, are subject to change

There will not be a wait list and there will be NO REFUNDS OR TRANSFERS for canceled entries (registered players are still be entitled to their player pack as long as they can arrange for someone to pick it up for them in person)
