What an absolute DISASTER! My arm gave out on me right away from the cold and fatigue. Really just wasn't ready for today considering my second day back on a back to back in the season with no practice up to this point. Worth the experience though and I look forward to playing more from the longs in the future. I wish I had played better but I may have biting off more than I could chew to start this season. Oh well, back to the grind.

WOW! What a start, it felt amazing to start on hole 16, that is right, 5 birdies in 6 holes, but had one double bogie, then the rest of the round I let all my bad throws kill me and my scramble was TERRIBLE! What a way to ruin a round. Overall, it could have been worse, but just inconsistency and arm exhaustion from yesterdays tournament really impacted me (remember I am doing a back to back tournament days with no practice up to this point). Looking forward to round 2 from the longs (never done that before).

After my abysmal showing round 1, I think my mind clicked and realized I was playing for real suddenly. I had something to prove as am AM 3 player in the AM 1 division. I knew my chances to come back to win were slim, but I wanted to at least make it look interesting. I hit my line much more consistently, had a nice birdie run, missed a couple easy putts unfortunately but made vast improvements. Shot hot round on my card and made up 4 strokes on the leader (nearly all 6 except he banged in two HUGE 60 foot putts down the stretch). Putting felt GREAT in some holes and okay or lost opportunities on others (with the cold I am not going to beat myself over it too much). I ended up staying in third (out of three) but rather than losing by 12 to first place (which I was on pace to do), I came back and lost by 2-strokes. I feel better about that, I wish I had played the first round with the same fire and maybe I could have walked away with a victory instead. Maybe next year. This tournament felt more interesting about the tale rather than the type of play I had, very fun.

What a terrible performance for my first AM 1 showing. Granted, I didn't expect to be playing AM 1 going into this tournament (they needed me to make the card), but still, it was another tournament where showing up... I didn't have that hunger to prove myself or play super aggressively right out the gate after a tournament win. Not sure if it is because of teaching, or the end of this season, the weather or what, but I was not fully invested into this round. Got stuck behind the slowest foursome of all time (as they continuously lost discs in the snow) which didn't help matters either. Had a fairly good throw in and couple long putts, but couldn't find my line AT ALL for the first 14 holes we played. Missed a ten foot shot because I wanted to rush since I felt so out of it, and failed to capitalize on good drives and allowed the rest of the card to stay with me there. I know I could shoot better on this course especially considering how short it is. I need to just trust my roc x3 and Harp and just throw. Nothing to lose being 6 strokes down from the leader going into round 2.

Fallasburg Park, 2018 Fallasburg Open Shorts on 1, 5 and 16, 18 holes
WOOOOOOOW, what a second round. Well let me tell you how it all went down. Right off the get-go John, Andrew and myself went back and forth between taking the lead and being tied. It wasn't we were making good birdie putts, but we were sucking it up and taking bogies on easy holes. I struggled with some lines early and missed some makable putts, but after 9 holes, all three of us were tied up. We played the front nine second, and that is where everything changed. Andrew's back injury caught up to him and he lost control from the pad and went four straight bogies from hole 1 to hole 4. Even though hole 2, 3 and 4 are all potentially easy birdies. John got a birdie on hole 2 to take a lead but then pared everything else on 1, 2 4 and 5. I missed by birdie opportunity on hole 2, but then took three birdies in a row on holes 3, 4 and 5 to take a two stoke lead before losing one of them with a bad bogey on hole 6. So with 4 to play, I was up by one stoke. John and I matched shots for the most part until hole 8 where he found himself 20 feet from the basket behind a tree and I had to layup for my 3. He missed the putt off the top of the basket because of the award stance he had to take to get around the tree, and it felt deflating as he needed that to tie up the match with one to play. His drive on hole 9 was low and very short, and his second shot nearly went in from 200 feet away (It was SOOOOOO close), but he had to settle for a long 3 and I played smart for mine and took the win. It was such a great back and forth battle and John and I had a blast playing against each other and having fun. Look forward to playing with him more in the future.

Fallasburg Park, 2018 Fallasburg Open Shorts on 1, 5 and 16, 18 holes
Well, what a start. I am playing it blind and while I was worried that would be a disadvantage, it worked out for me since the course was wooded which I prefer. Started off with three bogies (which didn't feel good considering the second hole I played I skipped off the top of the basket for an ace run) and could tell there would be some putting woes to start. I didn't commit to win at that point but instead just committed to playing my style and pace of play. It got better from there, had a few frustrating misses (like a 12 foot putt off the top of the basket and 2 pro side putts that spit out), but still ended up with 4 birdies which saved my score considerably. Felt like for that round my score was about 3 strokes worse than I deserved which would have put me at -2, which would have felt pretty good to be honest. My putting at the end of the first round as well improved dramatically as well so it felt like I had some momentum going into round 2. The three other members of my card shot fairly well as well. Mario took 58 with a 7, Zack S took an 58 as well after scrambling several holes from unlucky kicks and lies. John took 54 after a REALLY unlucky double bogey near the end of the round to take him from two under to par. We thought a few under par would be hot round but John ended up with it, I was close behind in second and both Mario and Zack were tied for last on lead card and chase card. It was a tight battle and it was going to be an interesting second round. At this point I did care about going for the win. LOL

Well... I certainly made a move, but it was in the wrong direction. Same woes I had from the first round only it felt worse in the second. Missed easy lines, missed a thousand putts, didn't capitalize on easy holes, it just felt like I wasn't there to win. To top it all off the park gave me a ticket because I didn't have a state park pass... even though I was at the tournament... STUPID. Ended up in 6th and 9 strokes back from the winner. I know I can play A LOT better than this, and I need to get my motivation back first and fix my putting woes to give myself that chance.

Tournament Ichabod Crane Open
Well, let me state first that there were two things working against me today. First, I was still injured from a soccer game two days before and my leg was swollen like a balloon at a carnival, it is also my planting foot to throw so I had limited power it felt like. Second, the week before I got my first rec win at a tournament and for the entire ride to this one, I felt like I didn't have anything to prove for some reason. I couldn't get into my focused zone, I didn't feel motivated at all... it just didn't feel like I wanted to be there at all. Despite that, I played... okay at best. The course itself is really fair. I should have just eaten this course alive for the entire day. There were a lot of holes that were roc distance but I didn't hit my lines properly, and took 3 on a lot of holes were two is a good score. Despite my subpar play (meaning bad not I shot under par), I was still on the chase card and had a chance to make a move only 4 strokes from the leader. Hopefully something will click and I can at least make things interesting.

George Wilson Park, Regular tees, 18 holes
Tournament The 5th Annual Fear Itself Open
Now, this score may look horrible with all the 6 and 5's I took, but the conditions were HORRIBLE! There were 40mph gusts and hail the entire round. Shooting under 70 felt amazing for this par 62 course. I could have save this score as well but an unlucky bounce kicked my disc ob on hole 1 and hole 8... wind and hills do not mix let me leave it as that. Ended up winning by 8 total to second place so that felt good and it was to a person that beat me in a tournament previously. Feels like my game is really coming together, I even only lost to MA2 winner by 2 strokes!!! I think I am ready for the next level after this win.

George Wilson Park, Regular tees, 18 holes
Tournament The 5th Annual Fear Itself Open
While this course was in a first time layout, the only option I could pick for the 18 holes we played that day for Fear Itself. First round felt really good, a lot of long holes I never took a 5 for the whole round. I missed a few gimmie putts and didn't capitalize on some of the easier holes, but the wind defiantly made things interesting. I know I can improve on this score, if the weather cooperates and the wind can chime down.. or at least stay the same. The par for the course was 62 so playing it mostly blind (considering the alterations on many of the holes) I feel like I did pretty well. First place by 5 strokes after round 1.

Well, at least I did better... right? I was down by four to start the second round, after four holes I was down by 8 and both 3rd and 4th place had taken a lead over me. It was VERY FRUSTRATING! But I gathered myself, got myself on the par train and then converted easy birdies. At the end of the round was the roughest to swallow, I didn't par save hole 15 after a terrible drive with a destroyer that never flexed back and then my putter bounced into the water o.b. and the leader was able to tie me for that hole. Hole 17 and 18 I failed to give a good drive and I failed to give myself a chance at birdie while the leader went par bogey. I lost by three strokes and those holes I could have done it on if I could have converted but I choked. Another second place finish and I feel even closer to being able to put away a win in the near future. Hopefully I can do it before my rating goes too far up to where I have to play MA2

Generally, as blind tournament playing, this went fairly well. I had a few moments that helped me not suck completely (blind birdie on 14 and long birdie on 17), but had many moments that felt short of what I could have done (missed birdie on 10, went ob on 3 which was super unlucky failed to capitalize on holes I could take advantage of because I threw too high or low). Only four off the lead and hoping to get back in therace with a better round now that I know how to play the course.

Hammond Hill, Long tees to short baskets, 18 holes
Wow, what a great and disappointing second round. Shot one stroke worse, and lost by one stroke. I got the stroke I was behind back on the first hole and we stayed tied essentially until the last hole where I bogies instead of birdied like I did the previous round. Losing by one is the worst, especially when it comes in that fashion (choking), it felt like I left a lot on the course behind me. The 5 holes I played I chained out par (he took bogey), I chained out birdie (he scrambled pared), caged short birdie (he scrambled par), I chained out birdie again (he scrambled par) and then I bogey and he took an easy par. That felt the worst, knowing that 5 hole stretch was there, let alone the missing of the line by 1 foot on hole one for a guaranteed birdie (which he hit) and missing a 25 foot putt on hole 2 for birdie (which he took par). So overall I cannot complain, but I really wish I could have pulled off the win. Maybe tomorrows tournament will be better at the other blind course I will be playing at.

Hammond Hill, Long tees to short baskets, 18 holes
Interesting start, I find myself only one shot off the lead and I played the course completely blind. Unfortunately ended the round on an unlucky double bogey and will start round 2 on that hole, but other than that, I was able to limit my mistakes and save par most of the time and hit a lot of putts I should normally hit. Hopefully will get out there and make up that stroke and stay competitive. Maybe even win a course blind. Though the person in first groomed the course itself so I will be at quite a disadvantage.

Tournament The Amateur Championship at Valparaiso
Better, not good, but better. Hit some of my lines better and had better distance from the tee pad despite the weather and feeling weaker than normal. Made more putts as well but I let a few holes blow up my score and let the distance on some holes hurt me even when I am capable of taking care of distance holes 300 feet at a time at the worst. I have got to get better on playing par golf and being willing to stay safe rather than take rusks that end up resulting in huge problems with big numbers and scores that hurt me.

Wow... what an up and down round for me. Started off on two of the hardest holes and that shook my confidence going forward. Couldn't hit a line and missed early putts. Smoothed things out in the front nine where I shot 31 even with an unlucky 5. The course was much more difficult than I gave it credit for just by looking at it and the distance defiantly came into play later in the round as I became more exhausted. I know I can improve on this score but overall I cannot be too upset considering I am blind and under the weather and stressed/exausted from work going into today.

MUCH BETTER! I actually made some putts and still missed 3 birdie opportunities. Drives and approaches were inside the circle and I actually made some putts to put away my birdies. I turned that front nine around as well and went from going +1 in round one to -6 in round two. Shot hot round and feel much better. In fact... I actually went from second to last card to... second overall!!!! Good feeling to make such a turn around and compete. Wish I could have changed that first round a little and won the event, but considering how this tournament started, glad it turned out this way. BTW the wind picked up BIG TIME and caused a lot of trouble for a lot of players. My card shot top three scores and we pushed each other to keep playing really well. Only one hole on the card didn't have a birdie recorded... that was pretty awesome to play with those guys today. Look forward to seeing them in the future.

Another disappointing start to a tournament. I left 6 birdie putts out there AND I missed 4 opening drives/approach shots that left myself short from any chance at Birdie or Par... just disappointing from what I know I am capable of. Ended the round on the second to last card... again and that hurts the most. I was not the lowest score on my card, but I certainly was not close to being the best. The front 9 (which is the much easier half of the course) was shot at +1, while the more difficult back nine I scrambled for -3. Even though I am playing this course blind, I am capable of much more than what I did. Just got to shoot better round 2.

Well, outside a TERRIBLE hole 10 and 11, this round was just really solid. I hit my lines very consistently and hit my putts that were close. FINALLY got under par, even though it was only one, but needed to hit my last two holes as birdies which felt clutch as I hit them. Made me feel very ready for the tournament on Saturday. Got to keep those types of throw going and keep that skill level going.

Much better second round. Could't prevent taking some bogies where I could have saved par. But overall I shot okay for this course. I feel close to a break through where I can shoot under par. Once I start doing that consistently, I feel like I can move up to MA2 and eventually MA1.

Round two and guess what I did again... missed 8 birdie putts again (EIGHT!!!!!). I hate doing this to myself. Everything was short, I took a terrible 4 on a REALLY easy hole and then on 17 I went for a birdie and missed the 25 foot putt back for a REALLLLLLY uncle 4. Front 9 went better but I just killed my own round again because I am putting weakly. I just need to get out of my own head and smash every putt inside 30 feet. I did at least move up to tie for 12th and take a payout to pick up a new RocX3 max 180 weight which has been really nice. I am ready to start being on the chase card or lead card and start playing up to the skill level I know I have.

Meyer Broadway Park, North course, Short tees, 18 holes
I hate sucking when I shouldn't. Started on hole 7, hit bottom of cage when trying to lay up and it went straight into the water and I had to save my bogey. Then after that, only one bad hole with a four and I missed 8 birdie putts (EIGHT!!!!!!). Left everything short, hit cage every time it felt like or air-balled right hoping my putter would swing back to the right. Round 1 was disappointing overall, left a lot on the course. Third from the last card but only 5 strokes off the lead. South Course is better for me so hopefully I can just score well and move up within pay-out range. Killed myself from having a chance to win a tournament I should be competitive for. Next year.... next year.

What an... Interesting? round. No birdies (eye roller) but honest played through the round very quickly as I was playing with someone that found my disc from another park and we were playing for fun. Lost a disc on 16 (have NO idea where it went... looked for it for like 10 minutes... its in that cluster of trees somewhere I swear), and took a 5 on 15 because of a grip-lock approach and spit-out from 10 feet away. But honestly a score of three on hole 10 and 17 felt like birdies.I could have shot a lot better (I certainly did during the Kalamazoo Championships) but again I played quickly giving little attention to the shots I was giving since I was just there to get my disc from someone and I had played 3 hours of basketball before. Overall, I don't really count it against me because I did not take the afternoon very seriously.

I was tied with my pretty good round going into the last 5 holes. Decided to run everything as if I needed 5 down to win it all, and I made some mistakes and my running putts went long leaving me to bogey afterwards. If I played safely, I bet I would have shot 48... good to know for future tournaments. Otherwise a relaxing but disappointing round considering what I am capable of.

ALMOST a bogey free round, my putting left my score much higher than it could have been. I hit my lines better but still struggled to be consistent and didn't capitalize on good opportunities I did create when they came up sparsely. The tournament was a complete wash for me (even though overall I shot even) as I could have played MUCH better and been more competitive for a win. Last note, I didn't even have the best score on my card on either round, which was really disappointing for me. Got to get my putting back and start working on my lines for approach shots and mid range drives.

What a terrible round. Didn't practice from the shorts and it hurt. Couldn't hit a line anyway but I either left myself forever short or forever long on each hole. Robert Morris, Regular tees, 18 holes
Played a much better second round (felt better than the score indicated). Hit my lines much more cleanly and putted lights out from inside 35 to 40 feet (especially the front 9). Unfortunately, my second shots were all over the place and often left me scrambling or taking putts too far away where I missed into bogey (1, 10, 11, 14 and 17). I tried a lot of new shots with some new discs so my consistency was not the greatest. With time they will hit where I want them too. Ended up 4th still 5 strokes behind first place so happy with the way I ended the tournament. (Side Note) I played with another guy named Jimmy where we both played on the same card both rounds and both scored Rd. 1: 61 and Rd. 2: 57 where I made a 35 foot putt in Rd. 1 to tie him and he made 5 birdies in a row to end Rd. 2 to tie me. It was great to have that kind of pressure and fun at the same time. #IThinkIFoundARival

Second round, much worse than round one. Let my opponents gain three strokes in three holes but recovered and played more consistent golf in round 2. What a day for round 2, I went from bad to worse in this 18 holes of spectacular display of awful disc golf. Had to play hole 12 twice (due to a hole being taken off due to bees, and it was a simple straight shot that I made very difficult on myself for whatever reason. In the rest of the course, I bet I hit the OB every chance I could (or so it seemed). I struggled to find any decent line (even though the course is WIDE open) and made it very hard on myself to shoot a decent score at all. I second guessed every throw and again played terribly for round 2 in tournament play. I've got to get better in being able to control my nerves and technique to play consistent par golf that I know I am capable of.

Decided to play a round at oshtemo after my abysmal tournament round in the morning (+10 eye rolling terrible). Had a great first 9, near perfection for me. But starting on hole 9, I had 5 bogey in 6 holes because i kept finding my disc inside the wood line and had to take a throw to get out and then lay up for bogey. Hole 17 was unlucky still but I have rarely felt so close to a perfect round for me today except for a few lines that found itself inside the wood lines. Much better performance from the tournament rounds.

What a terrible round, tied my worst score at this course for the tournament. I thought this would be posted earlier but I am not certain if it will be so I am doing the best I can remembering my hole-by-hole score. Started off with a double bogey (eye rollings so far into my head) and took a circle 5 when I hit cage then rolled downhill into the pond for OB. Two highlights for the round. One, I parked hole 9 for an easy birdie (my only for the round) and on hole 12 I took a 4 which is my best score on that hole ever. I feel like I am getting closer to being able to get a 3 on the hole. Overall, I just couldn't hit my line to save my life. I took bogey on a lot of holes that I should have taken par or birdie on. I left myself a huge hole for the second round and again I failed to play well in a tournament setting... again.

I was going to take today off, but my wife wanted to do something so she decided disc golf was fun. My arm is for sure tender from so many disc golf holes from the past 5 days, but I played fairly well considering. Played a much better first 9 than normal, par hole one which is one of my worst holes and only a bogey on hole 12 which for me is good for now. Chained out par for 10, and chained out birdie and par on hole 11 (smh) and chained out par for 13. If I had hit those shots I would have been 2 under and a new personal best. Pretty good final practice round before the tournament.

Pretty sub-par round for me to be honest. I have not been playing as well as I could be, but to be honest this round is holes 144-162 over the past 4 days, I think I may just be exhausted. Nope... round two was just as bad. Blew UP on my worst hole 12 by getting stuck in some nasty weeds near O.B. which got kicked there... TWICE! Front 9 wasn't bad at least, a lot of promise until hole 12 then everything fell apart. I still need to work on my mental game more to stick with a round even after a terrible hole or disappointing finish from the previous round.

What a terrible round. First of two planned for the day. Lost a disc that skipped badly on hole 3 into the water (my best disc in the bag honestly). Couldn't sink a putt to save my life and hit every imaginable tree that was close to my line forcing a difficult up shot. Eye-roll if round two is going to be similar. I can do WAY better.

What an up and down second round for the day. Started off terribly, couldn't hit my line or sink a putt. I was still trying some new techniques I learned and once I found my line the round turned around. Hole 12 is my worst hole and again I got stuck in the woods but the back 9 felt very good as I hit 4 birdies on the last 6 holes to bring myself back to par. I know a whole consistent round would allow me to shoot somewhere between -2 to -6 of par. Just have to keep working on my consistency

Trying some new throwing techniques, wasn't the best round I could have played but had a lot of fun trying out some new throwing techniques and discs as well. I lost one orange buzz I got when I fist started playing in 2011 (may it RIP in that stupid little lake). Overall I had a great time.

Burchfield Park, River's Edge, Rivers Edge short pins, 18 holes
Last round of the tournament and it was my worst by far. The course favored my style of play but I because I didn't prepare for the round seriously I couldn't find my line consistently and released discs with too much hyzer or anhyzer pushing my discs into trouble where I would lose a stroke just getting out of it. I need to stay focused even when I have no chance finishing where I wanted to be as practice in case I find myself where I want to be in the future. Mental endurance is something I need to work on and this round showed me that for sure.

Burchfield Park, Renegades Trail, 2018 CCR Renegades Trail Shorts, 18 holes
Much longer course with a lot of O.B. My inability to crush a disc 400+ yards defiantly came into play while the longer holes became difficult to keep lower scores on. One hole hit two O.B. back-to-back with a double circle 8 that was the majority of my over par. If I could have eliminated that one hole where I fell apart I could have again stayed close to the top of the leader board, but at this point left myself too far outside the top card where I would've had any chance to place.

Grand Woods Park, Main course, CCR Open 2018 Shorts, 21 holes
Wasn't a terrible round for me. I hit exactly 4 trees and was O.B. once, and those three holes had three double bogies. Outside of those three holes I had only par with 5 birdies. If I could have recovered a little better on those double bogie holes and saved bogey, I would have been just a few strokes away from the top score and maybe stayed in the hunt longer.

Oshtemo Township Park, Short tees, 18 holes
Struggled at the beginning to find my line consistently. Found it after hole 4 and didn't really lose it till hole 14 where I was only off my a degree or so. Finished strong on the final four holes with some strong putting. Could have finished under par since I caged out on hole 11, 12 and 16. Still cannot be upset with a tie in my personal scorecard for this course.

To be honest, had several league groups ask me to play through and I felt rushed for many of my shots (especially hole 14). I didn't throw super well, but it would have been much better if I had taken my time.

What an horrible day. I just couldn't find my line I wanted to throw ever. Easy holes had bogey and my putting was just everywhere. Front 9 had only 1 PAR!!! Par for me is like birdie for Paul McBeth, usually what I get.

Pretty consistent throwing for me. The holes I got bogey on I hit a branch or the side of a tree that made me lose a stroke. I just missed my line a little is all. Overall consistent round.

I played this 18 second for the day. Much better finding my line and making putts inside the circle.

Overall better round finding my line. Didn't lose any discs for this 18 and my only two bogey holes were from kissing off the side of a tree. Really consistent round overall, I know there are some of the holes where I could have capitalized on some of the holes but was not confident going for the whole in fear from losing my discs (like the two I did on the previous 18 I played).

First time playing the course in years. Forgot most of the holes and some of the pins had been moved from what I remembered. Good to go back. I lost 2 discs that day which were my 5 scores and threw everything else very consistently. Didn't lose my line very often.

Oshtemo Township Park, Short tees, 18 holes
Best round for me so far. I know I can do even better by reducing scores on some of my worst holes (hole 11 which I need a strong fronthand shot that I don't have). Back nine is a very difficult series of hole with a lot of room for error and I found my lines well and maximized on some good putting to stay even.

Very average round for me. Very consistent lines with my drives and I made all the putts I was supposed to make. Didn't capitalize on putts that were makeable (inside 30 feet) but there were several available in this round.
