Wednesday 3/23/2016 results

We had 15 guys brave the wind and colder temps to kick off the 2016 disc golf season at City Park DGC. It was getting a bit dark on the last couple of holes; next time I will have fewer guys on each card.....my hands were getting cold writing out the cards! Adam Sanford continues to have the hot hand (from last weekend) and took home the CTP on hole #5. Thank you to Lucas Krupp for upgrading the $15 CTP disc. Despite the cold everyone was having a good time and there was no shortage of congratulations on good throws and putts....as well as some trash talking. Overall the course is in great shape. Hope to see more disc golfers come out of hibernation for next Wednesday.

John Blomberg took the CTP on hole 8, winning a X-line Stratus. Last Wednesday 8/26/15 then Sat at 11 am starting 9/5

Tomorrows doubles league, 8/26/15, will be our last Wednesday at 5 pm CST due to decreasing light (Sunset will be 7:44 CST).....sunset comes about 15 minutes earlier every week this time of year. We will switch to Saturdays at 11 am CST starting September 5th. Congratulations to Kevin Gillhespy and Eric Hicks for taking 1st place last week and to Mike Fende for taking the CTP on hole #4!

2 more Wednesdays (8/19 & 8/26) then switching to Sat.

Due to decreasing daylight the Wednesday doubles will continue for 2 more Wednesdays: 8/19 and 8/26/15....after 8/26, the league will switch to Saturday at 11:00 am CST starting September 5th and continuing--every Saturday--until the cross-country skiers start grooming the trails.

Another fun time playing our random doubles league.....every doubles team played par or better. Great to see Tom "Mountain Man" Wincse show up and play....and tie for first with his partner Lucas Krupp...their team tied Brian Kreuscher and Mr. Greg Rogers at -9. Great job guys! June 24, 2015 highlights

Thank you to all of the disc golfers that came over from Discanaba to plays leagues...14 guys plus Jenn Champion made the trip!!....29 players showed up to throw...a new record for our league! Rob McLeod played and his presence was key to our great turnout....Thanks Rob!...Smokin' Chains Disc Golf Club (Escanaba) donated a CTP disc and Eric Willman donated 3 as well...Thanks guys!...CTP winners were Collin Uhazie, Benjamin Steinbrecher, Lucas Krupp, Solomon Brown, Greg Rogers, and "#4" Austin Neveau..."Nice throw"

Balancing the playing field and encouraging novice players

This year we have initiated a more balanced doubles selection process to prevent the pairing of novice players; for example, if we have 5 novice players the first five randomly selected players --from the non-novice pool-- will be paired with novice players. Also, to further encourage novice players, we have novice-only CTP's, in addition to our normal CTP's....and we generally provide more CTP prizes to our novice players.

The "Ryan Wille Rule".......

I will probably employ the "Ryan Wille Rule".....since Ryan has claimed LP (longest putt) and CTP's, the last 2 leagues, I will promote him to intermediate for the next Wed. Doubles, May 13th. Ryan will then return to novice status on the 20th. This "GM" move will allow other novice players to compete for the top spot while Ryan in temporary "promotion status. I think this is a good news--good news scenario. I will need to clear this with Ryan's agent though.....

Another excellent turnout due to members of the Dirty Deuce Disc Golf Club from Marquette (Nathan Frischkorn, Kevin Gillhespy, Jake Nease, Cody Smith, and Scott Thoren) and newcomers Cody Alto, Paul Brooks, Dan Hallock, Andrew Perla, and Anthony Sales! Thanks for coming out guys.

Once again there were no aces (Ace Pool remains at $100), but there must have been some good tee shots and putts with all of the birdies that were carded....good shootin' guys!

Change to the scorecard of Ryan T. and Brian K.

After proofing all of the scorecards I found an error on Ryan and Brian's card: according to their card they had a bogey 4 on hole 4 and birdies on holes 5 and 13; giving them a 53 (minus 1), not a 52 (minus 2)....No worries...I should have checked them earlier.
