RDGA Bag Tag League Rules
This league is intended to encourage the members to play more disc golf, while providing an interesting and fun platform for local competition. These rules are designed to provide some structure to the league and keep everyone on an even playing field. Please play honourably and make any accommodations that seem reasonable. Every effort should be made to figure things out with the other players involved, should any kind of dispute arise.
General Rules
1) Bag tags run from # 1 down. Tag #1 is the most coveted. How low can you go?
2) To play a tag match, challenge another league member to a round. Typically matches will occur at the Douglas Park Disc Golf Course in Regina. Any course is fine, as long as you play 18 holes.
3) Players are expected to play a minimum of 1 tag match per month. Any player who hasn’t played will be notified and given eight days to challenge and play another player. If still no match is played, the tag number will be forfeit and the highest available tag granted to that player. Repeated violations may result in the player’s tag being taken and the player refunded.
4) After playing a tag round, the player with the lowest score gets the tag with the lowest number. If players tie in a one on one match, a playoff hole/holes should determine the winner. Hole 14 will be the shortest walk, then 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. A tie during a group match will go to the player who started with the lowest tag.
5) Whether or not tags change hands, please post all tag round scores through
https://www.discgolfscene.com/leagues/RDGA_Bagtag_League_2019/post_score
6) You should attach your bag tag to your bag while playing any tag match. If you do not carry a bag, the tag must be visible in some manner during play.
7) Your tag is your responsibility,
a. If you don’t bring your tag to a challenge match, you automatically lose the round, forfeit your tag number and receive a score of 99, regardless of the actual scores.
b. If you lose or break a tag so that it is indistinguishable you will be obligated to find / make a suitable replacement for that tag at your own cost or be eliminated from the league.
8) Multiple people can also play together for tags. The numbers can be more complicated, but the best scoring player still takes the lowest tag and it follows from there until the last player receives a tag back. Tie goes to the player who started with the lower tag.
a) Formal Challenges can be included in group matches, as long as both players agree to this prior to the start of the round. These 2 players should play on the same card.
b) If you wish to bring a friend or another tagger to play with you during a challenge match, it is courteous to notify the other player beforehand.
9) Regular PDGA disc golf rules apply when playing rounds. OB adds a stroke and the player marks their lie where the disc left in-bounds, or back at the original throw location. Two meter rule is not in effect. Players tee off in standard lowest score from previous hole fashion. If you are unsure where OBs are throughout the course, challenge one of the directors and find out, or check out the map on FB.

a) If you wish to play by alternative rules/stipulations, all players involved must agree prior to the start of the round. i.e... if you choose to play with only X number of discs, off handed, discs below X speed, no OB, etc. Please note any unusual circumstances in the comments when the scores are posted.
Challenging Players
10) Anyone with a tag can challenge another player with a bag tag. The more challenges we have, the more disc golf is played... The more disc golf played the better!
11) You can challenge another player pretty much any way you can get in contact with them. A challenge can be made in person, through our league website, on Facebook, etc. If you have tried at least 2 ways to reach someone, without a response after a few days, you may contact the league administrator who may have other ways to reach them.
12) Upon a challenge being issued and accepted, it is expected that a match will be played within 8 days of the challenge. Players’ schedules, weather, or other unforeseen circumstances may also be taken into account. It is up to the players to work together to find a time when both are available.
13) If the challenger is unable to play the round after setting the match date, another date may be chosen given that it is within the original 8 days. If this does not occur, bag tags will not be swapped and the challenge is cancelled.
14) If the challengee is unable to play the round after setting the challenge date, another date may be chosen given it is within the original 8 days. If this does not occur, bag tags will be swapped and the challenge completed. Contact the league administrator to update the tag numbers as needed. Multiple instances of this infraction will be taken into consideration. However, this is super lame, just find a time to play.
Refusing Challenges
15) Challenge Refusals are limited to the following conditions:
a. Any player may refuse a new challenge if another player has already challenged them. When the existing challenge is completed, that player is again available to be challenged. Playing said person after the initial challenge is completed would seem reasonable.
b. Any player can refuse a challenge from a player they just played a scheduled tag match with for up to 7 days. The lower tag player has the right to refuse during the 7 day wake of the challenge.
c. Players with bag tags #1 through #5 may refuse challenges from players beyond 9 tags of their own. That is, Player with bag tag #1 has to accept a challenge from bag tags 2 thru 10 but may refuse a challenge from players with tags 11 or higher and likewise bag tag #5 must accept challenges by tag holders #6 thru 14 but can refuse challenges from tag holders 15 and above.
d. Players with bag tags 6 through 10 may refuse challenges from players beyond 20 tags of their own. That is, the player with bag tag #6 has to accept a challenge from bag tags 7 thru 26 but may refuse challenges from players with tags 27 or higher. Likewise bag tag #10 must accept challenges by tag holders #11 thru 30 but can refuse challenged from tag holders 31 and above.
e. If you start or show up to an open group round, expect to all be playing for tags regardless of the tag numbers involved.
16) If you are going to be away or unavailable for an extended period of time (generally longer than 3 weeks), please advise the RDGA and we may ask for your tag while you are away so that it will still be in circulation. Standard rules will apply and you likely will lose the tag number you had, but that gives you a chance to challenge other players and get that rank back up.
17) Please bring up any conflicts or questions up to the RDGA. The league administrator will make final rulings as needed.
18) Some rules may be changed or added to keep with the spirit of the league. If this does happen all players will be notified before the rules come into effect.
19) There will be prizes handed out at the end of the season for multiple metrics. Additional prizes during the year will be announced via the Facebook page.
Please try to avoid playing in groups larger than 5 people, as it causes frustrating delays for others on the course. It is recommended to split up into smaller cards of 3 or 4. Before splitting up, decide whether tags will be played for within each card or the entire group. It is recommended tags/scores are pooled together so all players have a fair chance at each tag.
