I'm still planning on being at Woodmansee course by about 11:00 tomorrow the 17th wednesday if anyway can or cares to join in course maintenance. Could use wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, and people power.
Thanks all,
Steve

Also will have Wheelbarrow with me in case able to move some bark chips as needed. If anyone would care to join me could use wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes and such. I should be on course by 11:00 looks like and spend afternoon till I burn out. If you can make it be happy to see you there.
Thanks,

Work party went as well as can be expected for a weekday afternoon. I got the whole course raked out around basket and trails like I usually try to do. Some others from chain gang that were able to get there got some more barkdust spread around tees and trail between 1 and 2 before bridge got cleared out and area by 6/15 got some clearing out done. Drop on by and check it out. Thanks to those that were able to drop by and help out and chain gang has been a good deal for Woodmansee and thanks ... more

Thanks for the support chaingang followers. I plan on being at Woodmansee by 1:00 latest next Tuesday for work party efforts. Any one that throws disc is more then welcome to join in the fun of keeping up a course. Machete for trail clearing would be handy along with wheelbarrows and shovels.
Strut your stuff proud, show what can be done, and feel good about what got done next time you play a round on the course. I've tried to step up and lead by example, and maybe some folks are star ... more

I would like to put out a big thank you to those from Chain Gang and others that were able to help out yesterday at Woodmansee and moving some Barkdust around tee pads. Any and all help is appreciated. After my full day on course yesterday cleaning up fairways and trails and with new barkdust spread before Tuesday two's, I feel the course is in the best shape ever at this time. Even so there is always more that can be done, still plenty of barkdust to use up and keeping berryvines and su ... more

Spent good day on course to celebrate mowing of fairways. Played a round and then spent few hours working on course. Work accomplished includes raking and cleaning around baskets, fairways, and safe landing zones as much as allowed by parks at this time. Will probably try and return tomorrow to clean up tee pads.

With this the course is now getting back in good shape and with alls help hope to keep it at least at this level, still room to improve yet.

Let me know if you want to help o ... more

Good news is the fairways are now mowed down and brings much enjoyment back to game. Also have gotten damaged/missing t-sign taken care of with assist from Beast. Let's all put on a good showing and respect our courses and educate those that need it or are new to the sport.

While at course today doing upkeep and such made a list of vandlised items we need to get replaced. I spent some of time cleaning basket top rings of graffiti, possible gang tags, and peoples aces written on them. I hope people will get the hint. As far as tee signs go we now have 3 missing top cover plate and tee sign. Also have two more with top cover plates cracked and broke but still there at this time. Also have had #8 and #17 numbers removed from side of tee posts that will need repla ... more

You know beast. I understand that your the greenskeeper for woods and that this course has a special place in your heart. But you talk about it as if it is gods gift to earth. I personally feel that most every one of those courses that you listed are better than woodmansee and have more to offer. The rating system works fine. And if it diddnt then I'm sure the people that run this website would fix it.

I just would like to say that I don't agree with the current rating on WOODMANSEE course at #34. Ewing Young, Champoeg, Lunchtime, and Winnerberg all rate better than WOODMANSEE! Some of those courses don't have many reviews and most of woodmansee's reviews are old, but there is no standard to compare courses by, thus an in accurate rating. Please come play WOODMANSEE and review it if you haven't or update your old review to share this course as the beauty it is.

THANKS, BEAST (CCDG GreensKeeper)

Woodmansee made a meal of my bag yesterday. Lost my yellow latitude flow w/flaming dice dye, and my bliz ape with my first ever throw of it on 8. just got it out of the mail yesterday morning. It has a 2012 Capital City Classic stamp on it, but didn't get my name on it yet. I will happily reward their finders! Thanks to all of you that took the time to help me look too, which was everyone who passed me!

CCDG event schedule change may be coming to WOODMANSEE. At the CCDG meeting on Wed. the 9th at Top Dog I will be asking the board to consider changing G.L.W. To Friday nights when the moon is Not visible and on those nights I would like to run a Handicap league before G.L.W. Not sure yet what to call the handicap league but I will try to use the automatic handicap system in DGscene.com for ease of operation.

*** Update Good news ***

It's official, after some dealing with the powers to be and a parks meeting last night, the bridge at Woodmansee hole 6/15 is open to traffic for now as of this morning. In celebration of this I spent today on course for cleaning tees, trails, and landing zones on full course. Also had a nice round and met part of the Oregon State disc club team that was practicing up our way today.

My next mission is to try and get a mowing schedule worked out with them, ... more

**** News Flash *****

I just received word this morning from parks operation supervisor that the bridege at Woodmansee will be reopened until new replacement put in. I feel I have reached some success at this point and will now see how soon it is unlocked. I hope that this will be the beginning of a new and good communication with the parks department.
