This 9 hole beauty is a great winter course. Not too easy, not too technical. Tone poles instead of baskets require accurate putting, no tee-pads but with a guide you can find your way to tee areas. No underbrush so you won't loose a disc here.

This has got to be one of the hardest courses in Salem to shoot under par for the majority of people. I love the layout and would only like to see hole 2 in a longer pin position. Great to see this project rolling in the right direction!

Not your average 9 Hole course! Flat for the most part with lots of tree's to navigate. Walking paths make interesting OB lines with low ceilings everywhere. Only a few of these holes are reachable by the advanced level arm.

I am working on upgrading this course. Numerous obstacles include the fact that it is a part of the state hospital and in a historic location. I am currently working with the hospital administration on upgrades and avenues of funding for baskets, and with the Salem Historical Society for a waiver grandfathering our course in so we do not need extra fees and red tape involved. Hopefully to be in place by fall 2014. I have uploaded an image of the course tees/tone poles showing the tee areas that ...

Perfect course for the beginner, yet challenging enough for any level player. This 9 hole course is about one mile around, and has a combination of long and medium length holes. The course is very open with green grass and there's not much chance of loosing a disc except for in the beautiful old trees that wind thru the course and make it such fun.

If you are in the Salem area, you definitely want to stop by and shoot this nine holer in a great setting on the grounds of an historic building. It is fairly open but not a lot of length, though there are a few chances to throw some long plastic. Big oak trees and pine trees create challenging tosses with plenty of opportunity for birds. They have also done a really nice job giving a nod to the old course that was set up on the grounds using bell posts instead of baskets. Each tee pad is marked ...

low trees and OB paths throughout. Hard to loose a disc here.

Great beginners course as it’s hard to lose discs. My kids and I can both enjoy and round or two

Ok so if you have a guide you will be able to play this course, BTW tone pole are very hard to hit(not forgiving). Not to long or short.
I don't think any course with no tee pads or some kind of signage should get a rating better then a C.

its a fun short course with a few technical shots. Tee pads are very tough to find. There was also a tone missing the last time i was there, which is only a minor problem because there is still a pole to hit.

Tones are always going to get a lower ranking due to the fact that well.......they are tones. That being said the layout is not to bad with some technical sides but there are no tee pads or even markers to know where to start or where to go next, there are some old 2 x 4s painted yellow pounded into the ground on end but by now they are hard to find even if you have seen them before. Put some tee markers in and tis goes up to a C+ put actual tee pads in and your looking at a B+ make a map or some alternate tee pads and its an A+.

Fun course.....but no tee pads or signage....First time on tones and had a blast. Up grade the course and this could be an easy A.

Beautiful lawn on this historic hospital, this tone course is weaved over several walk paths, and old tennis courts. Marked the tees with numbered stakes, so rate it higher now...

Weird course right outside the Oregon State Hospital (where One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was shot). Almost completely flat. Lots of old trees and a low canopy on a lot of holes, which makes some drives fairly challenging. You don't see too many tube tone courses, which is interesting. This would be a great lunchtime course if you worked nearby. Plus, as far as I can tell, it's barely used and there's almost never anyone there.
