Discs for Dogs was another success!

Scores are posted! We raised a total of $2,482 after expenses for the puppies at A Soft Place to Land! Another huge thanks to all the players, sponsors, and volunteers. 2016 FCHS FUNdraiser Results

Thanks to all that came out and gave back to local disc golf! With all the funds raised ($426) we'll be getting the last two upgraded baskets in soon on holes 2 and 8! All our Mulligans put us past our goal! It was a fun day but not an easy one. Scores are posted. Congrats to all the good scores and all that had fun on the tough layouts. The Wellington Chamber of Commerce has graciously decided to donate more to the tournament, so our final total was $2,068. Thank you for helping us give back to the community with a great day of disc golf! Bird houses are going to be built, people fed, and we got enough for the disc golf basket at Wellington! We are also donating $300 to the city of Wellington towards bridges on the West side of the park for disc golfers and the park goers in ... more

2) Sidearm Sunday @ Heritage!

Anyone want some sidearm/forehand tips? Come out this Sunday the 15th at noon @ Heritage. It is a sweet lil 6 hole course, if you haven’t played it. We can go over grip, angle, snap, disc selection, focal points, hyzers and anhyzer’s, oh my! After we go over some basics we can play 2 or 3 casual sidearm rounds. Beginner focused, but all are welcome! It is a great tool to have for any course. We’ll focus on accurate, flat & level throws, with stable to under stable midrange discs and fairway drivers.

“Smooth is far”! My coach, Bruce Kettle, taught me well. I’ve got almost 20 years of sidearm experience, and 10 years of helping people out with tips. Whoever has the most fun wins. Peace, Love, and Disc Golf!

FCHS FUNdraiser Results!

Results are posted! We raised $391 which is a little over our half way point to buy the last 3 baskets, $750. We will take donations all year, but hopefully next year we can reach our total goal! So if you didn't make it, you can still support disc golf in your local schools. As soon as we get the last 3 baskets upgraded, we are talking about how to fit a few more holes in the future... 3 weeks away! FCHS FUNdraiser, see you then!

April 25th: FCDGA’s Fort Collins High 5th Annual FUNdraiser 9:30am-10am Sign ups 24 Holes @ FCHS $15, $1 Mulligans, $2 Muli's during play. The course has 12 baskets now. But we still need to upgrade the baskets on the 3 new holes. Thanks to Colin Hurley, President of the CSU Team for helping design the new holes, thanks to the rest of CSU Team for helping this event, Jon Boothe/NoCo for supporting this year, thanks to FCHS for allowing us to keep this great course playable, and most of all thanks to the players that show up to help keep this great course playable!

City Council Elections are next week!

Council member Gerry Horak played an instrumental part in ensuring that 18 holes remained at Edora Park. The city staff proposed a reduction to 9 holes when the new course was opened on Overland. He worked with the Disc Golf Community to focus the City Council and staff to utilize the land east of Edora and worked with the Fort Collins Electric Utility and Platte Power Authority to allow holes to be located around the substation. He has continued being involved in our Parks and Rec Meetings.

• Friday Night Handicap League @ Edora. Runs from April-September 5pm Spring and Fall. 6pm Summer. $1 dollar entry & $1 optional Ace pool. Fun prizes every week. Weekly pay outs, no series.
• Sunday Gaggle 10am @ Edora. No cost, just a smile and a disc is needed! New to the sport? The Sunday Gaggle is what you’ve been looking for. It is a great way to meet other disc golfers with a love of the game. Casual outing, no league director needed.


Tournament & Events:
• May 10th: Free Disc outing/Clinic. Grand Opening of Edora. 10am-1pm.
• June 21: 2nd Annual Buckhorn Classic. Not sanctioned this year due to flooding last year. 10am

All members must play at their own risk for all events. FCDG is not liable for any injuries, damages, or stolen items. All members must play with proper disc golf etiquette and respect! Always keep in mind peace, love, and disc golf!

PDGA’s (Professional Disc Golf Association) stats on the demographics of Disc Golf are extremely encouraging. There is a % 15 percent annual growth in the PDGA. There are about 50,000 Sanctioned PDGA disc golfers and the numbers keep growing. Our own research shows that many city’s with 150,000 people or more have around seven 18 hole disc golf courses. Currently we have one tournament quality course in town. It will take the city 10 or 20 years to get another tournament quality course installed. The FCDGA will be working on grants, land owners, and working with the city to get more courses in sooner than later. We need people to step up and meet the needs of this growing sport.

The FCDGA is for any person that would like to play disc golf from the casual beginner to the most professional disc golfer. We offer fun events and serious tournaments. We would like to see our local professional’s PDGA rankings go up, as well as for the numbers of new players.

Our local community is also very important to us. The city of Fort Collins is a beautiful town with great people. We are lucky to have such amazing parks and supportive citizens. FCDGA likes to give back in many ways from maintenance days sprucing up the courses in our park and schools. As well as running Clinics, Fundraiser’s, and charity events each year. More and more people are beginning to love disc golf. It is cheap, easy to learn, gives you some exercise, and you get to have a great time with friends in our gorgeous town.

If anyone would like to help in any area of local disc golf needs please get in touch with FCDGA. Sponsors, Land for courses, maintenance, and community outreach are just a few areas. “It is not who you were, but who you are that matters!” Please get involved and make a difference in the growth of local disc golf.

All divisions are welcome. $20 buck entry for all divisions & $2 Ace Pool. Buckhorn Classic scores are up!

I can't believe the turn out! I think everyone had a great time, the layout was awesome, and the owners had a blast. I have to give a big shout out to all the people that helped out with maintenance, sponsors, design, set-up, and clean-up. I had a long day moving baskets back and a clean-up round. Over all it was a great success. Thanks to all that came and shared the first big event at Buckhorn. Sorry the scores were not up earlier, but no internet up there... Bruce and I got the art finalized for our bag tags this year! They will officially go on sale at our first Friday night 7 week series stop at Edora on the 22nd, 5pm. $15 for the membership which includes: $10 Wrightlife gift certificate, %10 off disc golf merch, and an online Bone Tag. Met our goal for the FCHS Fundraiser

This year we raised $374 and last year $140. So a total of $514. That should pay for 2 baskets and FCHS will get at least one more basket. It will be a couple months before they get the baskets in the ground. I'll let you know when they are in. Scores are posted as well. Thanks to everyone that came out and supported. Thanks to everyone that came out. We all had a great day and got a lot of feedback on the suggested Am Tee Pads for Hughes. We might leave the flags in for awhile so please go out and check out the layout (Robert Moll & Meaghan Moll and friends...) It is not hard to find the Am Flagged Tee Pads. Let us know what you think. Again, we are trying to suggest that we install them so all input is welcome.

Looking for some feed back!

NoCo and FCDGA were talking about having some of the longer holes have Pro and Am tee pads. I just went out to flag some suggested Am tee pads for the Tourney tomorrow. I wil have all divisions play from these tee pads to get some feed back. The majority of use on our local courses are beginners and recreational players. It will be a great way to make Aggie Greens a bit more Am friendly. Peace, Love, and Disc Golf!

Terry's Private Horsetooth course

Terry's friend Jaimie invited us out for Thursday "League" at 3pm. The back 9 is in, so it is an 18 hole course. I didn't know they were holding gatherings through the winter... Remember it is play at your own risk, and we can only play during league days. It is a cool course and I'm grateful they let us play. We usually meet at Canyon Grill before so I might get there by 2:30... They cancel it if it is too windy as well. Peace, Love, and Disc Golf!

Reflections was bigger and better than ever this year!

Had a great day yesterday at the Reflections Doubles Benefit, had an amazing turn out, and record money raised for Reflections! Around 70 people, over $3,000 raised, and 8 people's first tournament! Bruce did a great job giving out pointers again this year too. Thanks to all that came out and supported our charity event.

Had another great week! Thanks for coming and facing the wind! Since I am not doing a series I will not have names in order of first place to last place. I hope in the future PDGA has a way to fix this. It looks a bit confusing but all the scores are correct. I don't know why it didn't give an unofficial rating for Dan Thoen and Will Norwood. I'll look into it and fix it if I can.

New course in Wellington!

2 new 9 holes in Wellington just installed. A 9 on each side of the highway. I guess they will build a path under the highway so u can walk to each one in the future. Great to see more courses! Peace, love and disc golf

Oxbow & Hughes

Had a great time at Oxbow, saw some traveling casual disc golfers and we were able to throw a bit, help them with their game, and tell them about the best courses near by. Thanks Bruce for your couching skills! Also, Yesterday's work day for Aggie Greens at Hughes Stadium went great. All the tee pads and tee signs look amazing. Thanks Bill Wright, Colin, Austin, Peggy, Sue, Vinnie, Shawn, and the city for the upgrade and redesign! Can't wait for Grateful Disc.

Edora looks great!

Thanks to Sean Taylor and the CSU volunteers for mulching edora. Thanks to the forestry service for removing the diseased trees and broken limbs. Hopefully they can plant replacement trees soon! Sad to see any tree removed :(

april 15th round cancled due to 40+ mh winds. make up rounds TBA

We will do a make up round at the end of the season like last fall league. What do we think of rescheduling Intel's league on may 13th. I will be playing Grateful Disc, but if there is any body unable to make grateful who would like to run it that day let me know. Peace, love, and disc golf.

FCHS course Update

Colin and I had a 2nd meeting with FCHS last week. They should have the missing basket replaced by the 15th of April when we play the course. They do have a basket in a hole 3's position, but have not put a new basket in at hole 9 yet. But it should be a solid 9 very soon!!!
